Twice Shy (Hammond Brothers #2) by Suzie O'Connell

Five years after his wife died in his arms, Aaron Hammond doesn't think he'll ever be ready to love another woman, but Skye Hathaway's arrival in Northstar will test that theory.

Skye is still reeling from walking in on her philandering husband and his mistress, and with the ink not yet dry on her divorce, the last thing she needs is to get tangled up with a handsome widower and his charming daughter. With those sad eyes and a patient attentiveness, Aaron could be exactly the soothing balm her bruised heart needs, but she has every intention of steering well clear of him... until his adorable little girl decides to take matters into her own hands.

Wounded and wary after her failed marriage, Skye immediately captures Aaron's attention. As he coaxes her out of her painful memories, he finds himself facing an intriguing possibility-that life may yet have a lasting love in store for him. But can he let go of his wife and open his heart fully to Skye? Because Skye won't compete with a ghost for his heart. She has been competing with other women for her husband for too long, and she deserves better.

About the Author

Suzie O'Connell is the USA TODAY bestselling author of the Northstar romances. The series is the product of a love affair with Southwestern Montana that began with a two-week adventure at her stepsister's rustic cabin in her teens. That love affair shows no sign of abating.

She has been writing stories for as long as she can remember, and her love of writing and of Montana pushed her to earn a Bachelor of Arts in Literature and Writing from the University of Montana-Western. What else would you expect from a self-professed mountain-loving nerd?

When she isn't writing, you'll probably find Suzie in the mountains with a camera in hand and enjoying the beauty of Montana with her husband Mark, their daughter Maddie, and their golden retriever Reilly.

Really liked everything about this book, the characters, the interaction between the characters and the setting. A little different story line, an unlikely pairing but it all works. I will definitely be reading the other books in the series!

Even though I enjoyed the story I felt it appeared hastily written. The text was full of typos. Need to get a better proof reader as some details were skewed. Example she wore slacks then skirt in same scene. really!

Great storyline and cast of characters, from beginning to end I was hooked. In reading the book, the characters came to life and it felt more like spending time with a group of friends. Sky's and Aaron characters were perfect for each other. Aaron's little girl, Jessie, so sweet. The storyline was excellent. HEA. Enjoy. Happy Reading! *****vrnb*****

What a Pollyanna story! It was a deal breaker for her if he talked about his deceased wife, yet she constantly compared him to her ex-husband. The book was so fraught with typos--nearly one on every page--that it was difficult to follow the story. The writing style was so clumsy at times that I had to re-read the sentence over again to understand what the author was trying to say.
