We Had a Great Epoch is the first book in the Kharkov Trilogy series, which also includes the novels The Teenager Savenko and The Young Scoundrel. The novel tells about the writer's parents and school years. Childhood, which fell on the first post-war years, was difficult, but happy in its own way. On the pages of this book, Limonov presents his own version of the Great Epoch, his own view of the Soviet empire, formed in spite of what was imposed from outside.
