Undaunted: Knights in Black Leather by Melissa Marr, Ronnie Douglas

Following in the tradition of Kristen Ashley, Joanna Wilde, and Jay Crownover, this first novel in a sexy, dark New Adult series tells the thrilling story of a young woman who finds herself drawn to a Southern motorcycle club’s inner circle—and a dangerously hot biker.

Aubrey Evans needs to get her life back on track after her father is indicted for embezzlement. She’ll save college tuition money, hightail it out of small-town Tennessee, and steer clear of hard-muscled boys on motorcycles. Yet there’s no ignoring someone like Zion. A knight in black leather, Zion looks like every bad idea she’s been told to avoid, but she can’t resist him. Whenever she’s in trouble, he’s there. Appealing as his rough exterior may be, it’s the protective, principled man beneath that tempts her like crazy.

Zion knows Aubrey doesn’t intend to stick around. She claims to want only friendship, but he senses there’s a naughty girl hiding on the inside—one whose intense desires match his own. For now, he’ll be patient and play by her rules. Though he knows it’s just a matter of time before he weakens her resolve.

As they join forces to figure out who’s behind a local crime spree, it’s clear that the danger goes deeper than Aubrey guessed. And when she needs someone tall, dark, and undaunted to keep her safe, Zion intends to be there—now and always.

It just fell flat. I did not like the main or secondary characters. I'll give the rest of the series a pass.

I did enjoy reading this book, it kept me interested from the start to the finish. I did feel like slapping Aubrey for her wishy-washy dithering though! Lol. Now on to book 2.

Do not waste your time if you like Kristen Ashley and Joanna Wylde. Not enough substance, choppy writing. Terrible dialogue.

Undaunted is the first New Adult MC Club novel I've read since Katie McGarry's Nowhere But Here that I have truly fell in love with. The suspenseful, intense storyline, the awesome characters, and of course the beautiful, steamy romance—I loved it all. I also enjoyed how the Southern Wolves Motorcycle Club are family based with fathers, Uncles, sons and cousins and the same goes for the main character, Aubrey (Red). She lives with her grandmother, Maureen, who's definitely not your sweet little old granny knitting your booties. With that being said, these MC club bikers are as bad as it comes. Aubrey is the good girl with bad parents. Aubrey has to go live with her grandmother when her dad is caught embezzling. Aubrey’s not upset with the part about living with her grandma, she’s mad about her frozen college fund. After she's done the right thing and lived by parent's rules her whole life, she’s now thinking maybe it's time for the bad girl to break the rules and a taste the sinful ways of life, and what better way than the gorgeous, dangerous MC Club Enforcer that was made for sin, Zion (Killer). Zion is known as Killer, the Enforcer of the Southern Wolves MC Club. And he has his eye on good girl Aubrey, who Killer calls Red. Zion knows there's a dirty girl trying to let loose in Aubrey and he wants to be the man who sets her free. Except, there's this one little rule: Aubrey is forbidden fruit to Zion. For Zion, rules are made to be broken, but this one is a MC Club rule. And with this MC club rule standing in Zion's way, it gives room for another to try and stake a claim on Aubrey. Okay, readers. I gave you a tiny sweet taste of the romance between Aubrey and Zion, but there's also an amazing hang-onto-the edge suspense storyline going on with some illegal stuff, and another romance between the MC presidents and Maureen the grandma. Like I said, she’s not the kind of a grandma who knits. Ronnie Douglas is another author that I have to give praise to and say well done for knowing how a New Adult should be written. I definitely love Undaunted MC Club New Adult Romance novel just as must as Nowhere But Here and I highly recommended it as a must read.

Undaunted was a fun, fast, entertaining MC read. Aubrey financial struggles send her back to live with her grandmother in TN. This is where she meets Zion, he is her rescuer during a drunken binge that could have gone very bad for Aubrey. Zion is the enforcer for the local motorcycle club. He is drawn to Aubrey but she plans on leaving TN so she refuses to accept a relationship with Zion. Working together to figure out who is behind the acts of vandalism in her grandmother’s neighbor, Zion and Aubrey find themselves drawn into a much deeper power play for the towns land and ownership. Sometimes you just need a simple, a flat out entertaining read, Undaunted just hits the spot becoming that read for me. Some mystery, a little heat and sexy bad mouth bikers just worked. I received this ARC copy of Undaunted from William Morrow Paperbacks - HarperCollins in exchange for a honest review.

An Amazing Book Williamsville, Tennessee After her father is indicted for embezzlement Aubrey Evans needs to get her life back on track. She has a Plan and all she needs to do is follow it by hightailing it out of small-town Tennessee, save up money for college tuition and stay away from hard-muscled boys on motorcycles. Though with someone like Zion there is no ignoring anything. Zion is a knight in black leather and she can’t resist him even if he looks like every bad idea she has been told to avoid. He is always there whenever she is in trouble. The principled, protective man beneath the appealing rough exterior is what tempts her like crazy. Zion knows Aubrey plans to leave as soon as she can. He senses the naughty girl that is hiding inside, one whose intense desires match his own even if she is claiming all she wants is friendship. He knows it will only be a matter of time before he can weaken her resolve but until then he will be patient and play by her rules. With a local crime spree going on they join forces to figure out just what is going on but soon it is clear that the danger goes deeper than Aubrey first thought. Zion intends to be there for Aubrey now and always especially when she needs someone dark, tall and undaunted to keep her safe. This is the start of a series that will have readers wanting the next book right now. The characters, suspense and action prove to be addictive and make for a book that readers will read in one sitting. They won’t want to put it down for any reason and will stay up late to finish it. It is a very satisfying read. It also has some wonderful secondary characters that readers will want to see have their own stories. This is definitely a must read.
