By day, bashful wallflower Emma Duffy works at her family’s bed-and-breakfast. By night, she secretly pens erotic romance hot enough to melt the snow in their cozy Rockies town.

But Emma’s real life is about to heat up when her mother books the entire inn to a professional snowboarder, hoping the publicity will put them on the map. In a karmic twist of fate, that guest is Wyatt Lawson, the man with whom Emma had shared the secret one-night stand that became the inspiration for her novel and its dreamy hero. Worse, a film crew is documenting his comeback just as her debut is about to hit the shelves. Emma’s only saving grace is that Wyatt doesn’t remember her—and hopefully he never will.

When Wyatt arrives in Sterling Canyon for several weeks of intense training, the last tumble he expects to take is falling for a girl, especially one as shy as Emma. Unlike groupies with their hidden agendas, she isn’t using him—or so he believes…until the film crew uncovers Emma’s pen name and steamy novel.

Wyatt’s comeback run can withstand a fall or two, but can his heart recover from this crash and burn?

I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book. Another great installment to the Sterling Canyon series! Unexpectedly Hers by Jamie Beck brings sweet and naughty to the mix and made me crave honey in the most unconventional way, but you have to read to find the book to find out why... While I’m thinking about naughty... I think Unexpectedly Hers was unexpected....in a good way! The author sure wrote the perfect balance of character growth and scenes full of hot sexiness. I mean, really! Emma’s and Wyatt’s romance sizzled! She’s got a secret... Emma is probably my favorite heroine from the Sterling Canyon series. Not only because she has an interesting back story, but her secret was totally fun! Shy by day, kinky by night or should I say kinky by writing? Well, by night is right too. However, maybe shy isn’t the right word now that I think about it. She’s more orderly and reserved. Both because of her daddy issues and her mother, who puts some restraints on Emma’s personality. “Even if Wyatt’s nearness had made her deliciously lightheaded for two or three seconds. Of course, that carefree feeling was exactly the kind of thing that got people like her dad into trouble-that caused them to hurt and disappoint each other. Emma never ever wanted to hurt or disappoint anyone.” Her writing erotica seems cathartic for her. She can live within her fiction world, while her real life doesn’t provide that for her or does it? “Had she now confused her book’s hero with the real man, who would surely be more flawed that the fictional character? Still. she felt like the heroine in her book now, walking beside Wyatt, her pulse kicking about, her skin prickly with heat.” Oh but I forgot about Wyatt.... Well, how can one forget about Wyatt after reading this book? He has the sexiness, sweetness, and somewhat cute factor going on. By cute, I mean his random trivia’s that he mentions every now and then. “Why do you know all this trivia?” “I’m curious, and Google makes it easy to learn weird facts about everyday stuff.” Cutie. I seriously could not stop thinking about this book after I put it down. I kept thinking about the other characters as well. Like Wyatt’s brother Ryder. I sure hope he gets his own story. If you like stories with character who have secrets and family issues, with friends who provide support systems, then this book and this series is for you!

This is the third book in a series about three best friends. In this book you have Emma who runs an inn with her mother. The hero is a famous snowboarder named Wyatt with whom Emma had a one night stand a few years earlier. She went by a different name and so when Wyatt comes to train in Sterling Canyon and stay at her Inn with a film crew he doesn't recognize her. Emma hides behind her baggy clothes not wanting her mother or anyone knowing she has a different side to her personality. She writes erotic novels under a pen name loosely based on her one night with Wyatt. Even though Wyatt doesn't remember her he is attracted to her and they decide to have a relationship while he is there both knowing it will end when he leaves. The book had great chemistry. I really liked both Emma and Wyatt but I really liked Wyatt's brother Ryder. He is suffering from a brain injury that has changed him and watching Emma help and understand him was touching. This is a great book and series.

This is the second book of Ms. Beck's that I have read. I enjoyed this book a lot. The characters were all very complex. Several different issues in the book made for many side line stories. The family dynamic aspect of it was very relatable. The main characters of Emma and Wyatt were very likeable. I really enjoyed the relationship Emma developed with Ryder. I have to admit I didn't like Emma's mother very much! But that didn't detract from all the other likable characters. I will continue to look for more books by Ms. Beck. She is a new to me author that I have just started reading. This book is part of a trilogy but can easily be read as a standalone! I hope you enjoy this book as much as I did! I received an advance copy of this book from Netgalley in exchange for my honest review.

I enjoyed reading Unexpectedly Hers, the third book in the Sterling Canyon series, by Jamie Beck. Ms. Beck truly knows how to create a wonderful story between two people with Emma needing to figure out how to balance the demands of her life and the inner desires she has for her own future, without embarrassing her mother or not living up to her demands. Then there is snowboard hotshot, Wyatt, who just wants to repair the relationship with his brother, and mother, after his brother is injured in a snowboard accident. While staying at Emma’s mom’s bed and breakfast, all the recording for a documentary about Wyatt’s comeback ends up infringing on Emma’s need for privacy. There’s all of this while these two find love along the way despite the many obstacles. I love how supportive Emma’s friends were in helping Wyatt in his comeback and her girlfriends having her back. I also loved the kindness and insight Emma shared with Wyatt and his brother. This was a fun and entertaining story with loveable characters that you want to support and cheer on hoping for that happy ending. The characters were well written and complex. The story line was riveting and kept my attention to the very end. I genuinely enjoyed reading this book and had trouble putting this book down. I highly recommend this book to other readers and can’t wait to read the next book in this series. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

Emma cannot believe that the man who is her inspiration for her erotic romance novel will be staying at her family's bed and breakfast while he training for an upcoming competition. When Emma meets Wyatt, she can tell that he obviously doesn't remember her from their one night together 3 years ago. Initially, she hopes that she can keep it that way. However, when Wyatt is determined to seduce her, Emma decides that maybe he can provide some new material for her next novel. I really loved Emma & Wyatt and it was fun to catch up with Trip and Kelsey from Secretly Hers. Trip and Kelsey are one of my favorite couples. I love this series! I hope there will be more Sterling Canyon books. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

There are a lot of dynamics throughout this story; Emma and Wyatt’s blooming relationship, Emma helping Ryder find his new place in society after the accident, both Emma and Wyatt’s stressful relationship with their mothers, the film crew and Emma and her friends Kelsey and Avery and should Emma tell Wyatt about the book or just enjoy the month she has with Wyatt, lastly, what reaction will her mother and the town have if they find out about the erotic book “good” Emma wrote. I found the story a little slow in the beginning, Emma avoiding any real contact with Wyatt and Wyatt wondering why Emma didn’t like him. The story picks up as Emma finds out about the “real” Wyatt and that he is really nothing like the hero in her book. As the story progresses, we see Emma, Wyatt and Ryder realize that it is ok to not have to make everyone happy and that they are entitled to some happiness themselves. Eventually there is the blowout when it is revealed that Emma wrote a book loosely based on her one night with Wyatt. Wyatt leaves the bed and breakfast angry, Emma’s mother is angry, and Avery and Kelsey are proud of her. There is a HEA to this story for all of the characters involved. This is the third book in the series but can be read without reading the first two books. I look forward to other books in this series.

Emma never thought that using Wyatt Lawson, the snowboarding, gold medalist, as an inspiration for her debut novel would hurt anyone. But, that was before Wyatt decided to stay at her Inn for a month. Emma tried her best, to keep her book fantasies, work and Wyatt’s flirtations separate and under control. Sterling Canyon was a small Colorado town, and it wouldn’t do to have gossip buzzing around, especially if anyone discovered that she was writing an erotic novel. Emma was tired of being responsible for everyone else’s happiness. What about her own? Writing, was her way, of letting her wild side run free. But, what if Wyatt found out that he was the main character in her book? Emma would die of embarrassment; Wyatt would be furious, and their budding, more than friend's relationship, squashed. Unexpectedly Hers is a very enjoyable read, captivating and well-written. Thank you, Montlake Romance, and NetGalley, for my advanced review copy.

Well, I had high hopes for this book, since I am a fan of Ms Beck’s St James series. Sorry to say, I was disappointed. The premise of the story is that Emma and her flaky Mother own a rundown Bed and Breakfast. Her mother is leaving town to take a cross country trip with her sister, and as she leaves , Emma is informed the B and B has been reserved for a month as a training facility for a snowboarder. Emma, a gal who, unbeknown to her mother , writes erotic novels and has been trying to work on one at the moment, is shocked. Especially , when said snowboarder, is her one night stand a couple of years ago . He doesn’t recognize her because at that time she was dressed up in her “ alter ego” character. On an aside, she is 6 years older than Wyatt. I didn’t particularly connect with the main characters and almost didn’t finish the book. Emma , for me , was not a likable individual, Wyatt was arrogant and just not my cup of tea. That said, I wanted more on Ryder , to whom I was drawn from the beginning. Will he have a story of his own? I was gifted this copy. The opinions expressed are solely my own.

A nice addition to the Sterling Canyon series. Emma, Wyatt, and Ryder were all fantastic characters each dealing with their own issues. I really connected with each of them and I enjoyed how the relationship between Emma and Wyatt developed. I hope Ryder returns to Sterling Canyon and we get his story to enjoy. This is a book I recommend for the must read list.

Beneath the timid dutiful daughter lies a vixen waiting to break free. Jamie Beck's mixes the element of surprise with sweet sensations of love in Unexpectedly Hers. Emma has a dream that wants to keep hidden from the people in her small town. However, a chain of unfortunate events may expose her secrets before they get the chance to come true. Can a stranger from her past be the hero of her dreams and save her from ruin? Unexpectedly Hers uses a light hearted way to emphasis an important motto. Happiness can only shine through, only if a person to themselves stays true.

Emma has always been a "good" girl but three years previously had a hot one night stand with a champion snowboarder in Aspen. The encounter led to her writing an erotic romance based in part upon her experience but she knew her mother would be horrified by the book and she would be the subject of salacious gossip in her small town if word got out and so she kept quiet about the fact that her book was to be published. Her mother goes on a month long holiday and Emma is pleased as she has promotional work to do plus a deadline for her sequel novel however unbeknownst to Emma, her mother has booked the Inn which they own and work in, to a film/documentary crew and she is expected to cook and look after them for the duration of their stay. Emma is a bit disgruntled about this but worse is to come when she finds out that the star of the show is Wyatt, with whom she had the one night stand. I enjoyed this story, though found it a bit slow about one-third of the way through and it was interesting to have three separate story threads running through the book; the secret novelist, the snowboarding comeback and the recovery of Ryder (Wyatt's brother) from a life-defying accident. Though I liked all the characters I didn't really feel the connection between Wyatt and Emma, hence the 4 stars. HFN ending. I received a complimentary copy of this book from NetGalley. I was not compensated for my review, and I was not required to write a positive review. The opinion expressed here is my own.
