This is a great meaningful story to read. Let's you see the less glamorous side of Regency society. Its a page turner, well worth your time. Thanks

Unmasking Miss Appleby is my first book by Emily Larkin. Ms Larkin has impressed me with this fantastic story. This book had threads of drama, action, suspense, paranormal abilities, sizzle, humor and phenomenal, lovable characters weaved together. Think it can't be done? It can, and Ms Larkin not only did it, she did it well. I totally enjoyed this historical romance and look forward to reading more from Emily Larkin in the future. Unmasking Miss Appleby is book 1 of the Baleful Godmothers Series but can be read as a standalone. This is a complete book, not a cliff-hanger. I'm giving this book 5 stars only because I can't give it 6.

So much angst, and shape shifting, and tears, and rage. Doesn't make me want to read more books of this series.

Yes, I read the whole book. As annoying as it was; I just have to complete a task. (There's probably a name for this behaviour) but I found the whole paranormal crap quite annoying.

I've loved all the books about the Baleful Godmother. I'm not sure how I feel about this one. On Charlotte's twenty fifth birthday she was granted a wish by a Fairy who owes a favor to the female relatives of the one who did the the favor. Charlotte is living with an aunt and uncle who really don't like her. She is called Charity so she won't forget her place. When she is granted her wish, it is metamorphosis. She can change into any animal she wishes including a different human. She decides to turn into a young man who takes a job as a secretary to Lord Cosgrove. She finds she is falling in love with him. She keeps getting aroused and her pego gets stiff. This is not acceptable so she wishes it to go down. This keeps happening. Lord Cosgrove likes the young man and answers questions that are inappropriate but never suspects he is not what he seems. Someone is targeting Lord Cosgrove by breaking windows and other acts of vandalism. Charlotte who is known as Crispin helps find out who and why he is being targeted. It has to do with Lavinia, the Lord's deceased, unfaithful wife. Miss Brown who is Charlotte begins an affair with Lord Cosgrove. During an attack on Lord Cosgrove, Crispin/Charlotte turns into a bear and chases the attack away giving away his secret as well. Crispin just tells Lord To strive that he was granted a wish, but not that he is really a woman. The Lord still doesn't know it is Charlotte/Miss Brown. Something Crispin does gives away that Charlotte is Miss Brown and Crispin. He throws Crispin out but he gets hurt and helps him heal. Will Lord To strive take Charlotte/Crispin/Miss Brown back? There are secrets that hurt, incest and much more going on. It was somewhat confusing unless you were really on your toes. I did not care for the changing back and forth and the deception. Just too much.

I had read a couple of this authors books and thought I'm not going to like this one. Boy was I wrong! Great story, got into it immediately and hated putting the book down even to cook dinner.

Charlotte Appleby is totally surprised to find on her 25th birthday that she has been granted a wish from her Faerie godmother - but can she choose wisely. Given her current situation she becomes a man, and applies and is given the position of secretary to Lord Cosgrove. Unfortunately someone is trying to destroy Cosgrove's reputation and kill him. Can they solve the mystery of who and why. Really enjoying this series though I have not read them in the right order. The writing style is very easy and enjoyable to read and I like the characters.

A little prepostrous but enjoyable. The biggest mystery was how the author was going to reconcile the romance between a human and a shape shiffter. Since I enjoyed the romance, l was happy with her solution.

I just loved this story. It has such an unusual plot to it. I read alot, so to have something a little different is great. I'm looking forward to the other books in the series.
