I was a bit disappointed in how this story progressed. I guess the build up with Vance had me expecting a little more drama from both the humans that were after Vance and Butler who was after the McCade clan for the dragon. The character of Vance throughout the past 5 books built him up as this bada$$ kind of guy who had a tough exterior and would do whatever necessary to protect his country and family. He was a shell of a man who had seen and done too much for any woman to want him. I felt that when Mickey came along, he just gave in and accepted the fact that his mate was now in his life while he was still trying to clear his name. I guess I was hoping for his mate to have to fight her way through Vance's tough exterior. On the other side, it was nice to see the final journey of the McCade's and the conclusion to a century long prophesy that has been in the making.

This book made me laugh, cry and wanted to be there with them. Vance and Mickey met at the perfect time. There was so much going on in this book I just can’t find the words to explain how GREAT this book is. There were many surprises in this book that you would not expect. I can’t wait to see what’s next.

Another series comes to an end and we say good by to some fantastic characters. I was pleased to see that Vance received a mate that complemented him as he was such a multifaceted character. Mickie was awesome, she brought out the human part of Vance, made him smile and laugh while keeping that Bad ASS persona. Since it was the ending, there were a lot of things going on and several twists that kept things interesting. I really enjoyed the sections that dealt with bailing grandma out of jail, I just kept laughing. The story was easy to read and follow even with the influx of information coming our way. The characters were fun, the situations were interesting, and the storyline was just awesome. As with all her endings, Ms. Barton gives us closure but always throws something interesting in at the end. I look forward to the next adventure and wonder what kind of series we will be getting next. I volunteered to read this story for my honest opinion.
