This book recounts Martha Summerhayes' experience of becoming a new wife of a military man and the hardships of settling in a newly explored Arizona. She rides ferries on the Colorado River, meets historical figures, crosses uncharted territory, faces death, and uncertainties of Indian attacks. This is truly a historical account of a woman who overcomes many diversities. I recommend this book to all adventurers!
