Overview

Vietnam Remembered Today, provides a provocative look at how two brothers were in Vietnam at the same time yet their experiences were vastly different. Mark was in a support function while Don was fighting in the jungle.

This book provides a background on key battles and events that shaped the military and political strategies throughout the war. Learn why we got into Vietnam and the steps that could have taken a decade earlier to prevent it.

The battle at Ia Drang Valley dictated the military fighting strategies for both sides.
Why the Siege at Khe Sanh was closely linked to the Tet Offensive.
How Hamburger Hill, the My Lai murders, Cambodian bombings and the Kent State shootings dictated political strategies that impacted military tactics.
The casualties of war were immense and remain today. More than 58,000 American soldiers died while another 150,000 were either permanently disabled or severely wounded.

Vietnam Remembered Today unveils the personal challenges of being in the service and the circumstances of that period of time. This account represents many of the 2.6 million soldiers who served in Vietnam.

The U.S. involvement in Vietnam spanned five presidents from Truman, Eisenhower, Kennedy, Johnson and Nixon. President Johnson escalated the number of troops under the assurances from the military that victory was going to be swift.

We dedicate this book to those who died, to the families of loved ones still caring for the injured and for those providing aid and comfort through the VA and other service organizations.
