John takes you on a very personal and intimate story about his own life, showing you the ups and downs along the way as you work hard to achieve your dreams. Something we can all take away from his story is that life doesn't hand you many free passes, you need to work hard to accomplish the goals you set. The book is more tailored to the sports fan and more basketball specifically, but if you have any interest in basketball, this is definitely the book for you. Personally, my favorite part of the book was his focus on attitude and how a simple change in mindset can go a really long way. Using John's story as extra motivation, I started going to the gym and shooting hoops a few times a week and I'm even trying to eat better. I found the book to be very relatable to myself personally, but I would certainly recommend Walk-On Warrior to any sports fan, or anybody who just wants a great read from a very talented writer.
If you're in the Marquette for a high quality read then look no further. John shoots for the stars and takes you on a play by play journey into the reality of collegiate sports competition and dedication to one's craft. Apparently, John has been moonlighting English literature courses in addition to basketball as his story is both well organized, and passionately told. Creatively imagined storytelling that you'll lose yourself in. It's not until you finish the last page when you realize you should probably find the next best hobby to enjoy working on. When you find your passions in life and there's no limit to their power and motivating potential. This book is basically a well-designed play that John drew up during the timeout, and executed to perfection to win the game. Excellent read, I will definitely recommend to friends and family.
I enjoyed being able to relate to John's story in multiple facets. Reading this will demonstrate just how work and passion can push you toward success in your craft and life in general. John’s story inspired me and it will likely inspire something in you if you take the message to heart and apply it. Do yourself a favor and check out this motivating story and hopefully, it can help inspire improvement for your own life. I did my friends a favor and recommended them this book because everybody appreciates a solid recommendation, especially if you are a fan of Basketball.
