Overview

Newly married to his childhood sweetheart and happily settled in Glasgow, private enquiry agent Oz Blackstone is looking for some excitement. And when he's introduced to the seven-foot, granite muscled figure of Everett Davis, champion wrestler and head for the Global Wrestling Alliance, he knows he's found it.
The GWA's televised tour of Europe has been dogged by inexplicable technical hitches and terrifying accidents in the ring. Under the inspired disguise of Master of Ceremonies, Oz enters the extraordinary world of professional wrestling to investigate.
But as he begins to discover the dangerous reality behind the glittering façade, a string of accidents becomes murder, and Oz has to wrestle with the biggest crisis of his life.

Editorial Reviews

FEB/MAR 05 - AudioFile

To solve a crime in the Global Wrestling Alliance, PI Oz Blackstone goes undercover as master of ceremonies for the wrestling matches. Oz meets international wrestlers as he works for Everett Davis, the seven-foot American who oversees the alliance. While narrator Joe Dunlop skillfully presents most of the European characters, his American accents fall flat, but not enough to ruin the interesting experience of being inside the world of wrestling. Jardine's greatest skill is his well-drawn characters, who generally come alive as individuals, thanks to Dunlop's melodious Scottish and Irish accents. Those who enjoy an unusual venue or a Scottish setting are in for an entertaining mystery. S.G.B. © AudioFile 2005, Portland, Maine
