Rhode Island, 1981

Ted Hollis is forty-two years old, and the brewery where he spent his entire adult life just closed its doors for good.

He's got a son he raised alone who's heading to college in a month, a rat terrier who won't stop barking, and a refrigerator with one egg in the carton.
