About the Author

Ellen DeLange has been fascinated by picture books ever since she was a child growing up in the Netherlands. In the attic of her home she assembled a small library and shared her collection with friends and family. As an adult she started traveling and expanded her library with picture books from all over the world. Ellen also enjoyed inventing her own stories and was encouraged by her daughter to write her first picture book, A Story with a Tale. Ellen has a doctorate in medical sciences, and currently lives in Canada where she loves to walk in the woods with her Jack Russell terriers, drink lots of tea after a busy day, and sail on the ocean to clear her mind. When I Look Up is her third book.
Jenny Meilihove is a freelance illustrator from Israel. Her father first taught her how to draw and instilled a love of art by taking her to galleries when she was a child. Later she majored in Illustration at the Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design in Jerusalem. Now Jenny makes illustrations for games, home décor, and paper goods. But illustrating children’s books is what she loves the most. She wants her art to bring joy and happiness to everyone. When she’s not busy making art, Jenny loves to sleep and to have tea with cookies. Even when she’s asleep, she sometimes dreams about having tea with cookies.

It started out really cute, but then the colors dulled and without the effect of rhyme it quickly became boring. I wanted to like it, I loved the idea behind it but it just fell flat. The images became kind of awkward as the book progressed (especially the page with the rainbow, it looks like the rainbow is coming out of her head and why is she inside a hole in the ground?). Overall disappointed.

Full of wonder and imagination, just like most little ones! This book has adorable illustrations, and walks through all the curiosity and possibilities little minds conjure up when seeing a spectacular (or completely ordinary) sight. From clouds that look like animals, to wondering what it's like to be a giraffe, this book will spark conversations with your little ones about all sorts of things. **Thank you to NetGalley for providing a free copy of this book to read in return for my honest review.

This was a really cute book which encouraged creativity and imagination. It talked about wondering what different things you can imagine, see and dream about. It went through the entire book discussing how you use your imagination to make the world a larger place. However, in the end, it also says that you can still be happy for everything that you have "right in front of you." This line is so true and makes one also realize that even though it is good to dream, it is also good to appreciate what you have. Thank you to NetGalley for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
