Lester Morgan built the first sawmill on the White River in 1868. By 1873, he established the first post office at Morgan Station’s railroad depot. Morgan had a four-story building—known as the Morgan Inn—erected on North Street, which was the center of town. Sextus Wilcox and Lester Morgan platted the village of Morgan in July 1874.
