CHAPTER 1

Jesus Christ this was a stupid idea. Stupidest goddamn idea he'd ever heard. And as president and owner of Mackenzie Marketing, the East Coast's most successful advertising company, Tyler Mackenzie knew a stupid idea when he heard one. So why the hell had he agreed to it when his best friend Chase Cooper suggested he and their other best friend Curtis Jagger all contact the girls from their past, the ones they thought had gotten away, to see if they could have a future?

Because I'd never gotten over that sweet kiss I shared with her, that's why.

Mac glanced at Coop and Jag as they all stood under a towering oak tree watching the small plane land on the ranch's makeshift runway. The warm afternoon sun broke through the canopy of leaves overhead; Mac fisted his hands and exhaled slowly, but it did nothing to ease the cold knot of apprehension tightening his gut.

Sure he'd thought of Jess Gray over the years, the shy, quiet girl next door he'd spent his high school years crushing on, the one who'd always listened silently, carefully, when he spoke, but had little to say in return. But having Jag's private investigative company track her down while Mac put together a proposal he'd hoped she couldn't refuse was a damn stupid idea. Shit. When this was all over he'd have to remember to kick Coop's ass.

Tessa Turner, the experienced ranch hand who ran things when the guys were back home in Nova Scotia, where they all held down full-time jobs, met the plane as it came to a stop. The door opened and Mac swallowed against the dryness in his throat as the passengers began to disembark.

Had he mentioned this was a stupid idea?

He shifted his weight from one foot to the other and rolled his shoulders, trying to ease the ball of tension building between them. Honestly, what were the odds that any of the three girls would show, anyway? An anonymous invitation to a working dude ranch in Springvale, Alberta, for a week of R&R would probably come off as a little sketchy to smart, educated women like them. Yeah, he had nothing to worry about. The chance of Jess actually climbing off that plane was slim to none.

Or not.

The second he saw a long set of legs touch the first step he knew it was her. As a yoga instructor, her body was lean and fit, and he'd recognize those sleek legs anywhere. His heart hammered against his ribs, and his knees damn near gave out on him as he waited in anticipation. Jesus, his palms were even sweaty. The world seemed to close in on him as he continued to watch her move down the steps. Off in the distance near the horse corral, he could hear someone calling out to him, but he couldn't make out what they were saying over the sound of his pulse drumming in his ears.

"Holy shit," he murmured, driving his hands into his jeans as he watched her pull her bag tight to her chest, her long dark hair brushing against her shoulders as she glanced around, trying to orient herself.

Jess was here. She was actually here.

Still trying to wrap his brain around the fact that she'd accepted the invitation and boarded the plane, Mac moved toward her on legs not quite steady. She turned curious brown eyes on him and he stopped to remove his Stetson, which shadowed the lower half of his head and neck. She studied him a moment, taking a good long look, then her mouth parted in an O of surprise as recognition registered on her face. When their eyes met and held, she gifted him with a smile. A smile so bright and disarming, this time he found his entire body breaking out in a sweat — and it had nothing to do with the scorching sun.

He put his hat back on and looked her over. Taking in the dress she was wearing, and the soft auburn highlights in her hair. Jesus, she'd been pretty back in high school, but now she was ... beautiful. Jess Gray had blossomed into a gorgeous woman whom he couldn't wait one more second to get to know better. Strides determined, and with the world around him fading to a dull buzz, he quickly closed the distance between them. His heart thundered in his head as everything about her set off a storm inside him.

But as he approached, her smile fell and panic moved into her eyes. What the hell? Hooves sounded on the dry ground and that's when he realized the thundering wasn't coming from inside his head. She looked over his shoulder and faltered backward, and the next thing Mac knew they were both flat out on the ground, his body pressing hers into the soil. He immediately came up on his elbow and brushed her hair from her forehead, wanting to protect her from his weight bearing down on her. He shifted to the side. "Are you okay?" he asked quickly, unease tightening his gut as his gaze moved to her face. Fuck, if he hurt her ...

"I'm okay," she said quietly.

Dust roared up around him, and when something nudged him he turned to see his horse Eleanor.

"Shit," ranch hand Blake Callahan said as he came running over. "Sorry, Mac. She got loose. I tried to warn you but you didn't hear." Blake grabbed Eleanor's harness. "She's been temperamental lately."

"It's okay," Mac assured Blake as the ranch hand started to guide Mac's pregnant mare back to her stall. "She's been a little possessive of me all week."

Blake ran a gentle hand over the horse's protruding side. "She's getting close."

"I'll check on her in a few," Mac promised, watching Blake lead the mare away.

When they were out of sight, he turned his attention back to Jess, and her body softened beneath his as their gazes once again collided. While he wanted to apologize — Christ, he hadn't expected their first meeting after ten years to go down quite like that — he couldn't say he was sorry that Eleanor had gotten loose and knocked him into her.

"You sure you're okay?" he asked again and slipped his hand around her head to lift it off the hard ground and provide a cushiony place for it to rest.

Jess nodded, her cheeks turning a pretty shade of pink. "I'm okay," she said breathlessly. "You?"

"Yeah. I'm okay." Warm familiarity curled around him and he couldn't seem to move — didn't want to move. He stayed on top of her, his glance moving over her pretty face, her mouth. Lips he'd kissed so long ago, and was dying to kiss again. Jess Gray. Jesus, he couldn't believe she'd actually taken him up on his invitation, or that he had one whole week to spend with her and explore the pull between them, one he felt now, every bit as much as he had all those years ago.

"Mac?" she asked.

He looked deep into her eyes, dark, expressive eyes that told him so much about her. He took a moment to recall that kiss from long ago — one he'd tricked her into — yeah, he was always the joker back in the day. The high school gym had been full of students and teachers, celebrating the last dance before Christmas vacation. He'd called her over to the doorway, and when she reached him, he pointed upward. He remembered the flush on her cheeks, much like the flush she had now, when she saw the mistletoe dangling over his head. She'd opened her mouth to say something and that's when he kissed her. So sweet. So fucking soft and sweet. That kiss, not to mention the journal of hers that he'd managed to get a quick peek at earlier that same day, had told him so much about the girl beneath the shy surface, so much about who Jess really was, and what she truly wanted. But when he'd pulled back she took off, leaving him standing there completely crushed and utterly speechless. Never before, or after, had any woman left him feeling so ... confused after a simple kiss.

As he looked her over now, it occurred to him he never wanted to frighten her off like that again. She might be shy and sensitive, bringing out the protector in him, but she also had a quiet strength about her. It was just going to take the right guy to show her she was strong, beautiful, and desirable. The right guy to coax her out from her shell and release her adventurous spirit, one he'd discovered that fateful night so long ago. There was no doubt he wanted to be the guy she needed.

Hell, he would be the guy she needed.

He looked at her lips, full, plump ... so damn kissable. Her hair splayed across the ground, and a bevy of fantasies rushed through his brain, mainly how she'd look spread out on his bed. He swallowed the groan of want rumbling in his throat.

"What ... what am I doing here?" she asked.

He touched a strand of hair, running it though his thumb and forefinger. "I needed to see you."

"You did?" she asked, confused. "Why?"

"Because we have some unfinished business, Jess."

"We do?"

He brushed his thumb over her cheek. "Yeah, we do," he said quietly, completely blown away that she was here, with him. Jesus, he was the luckiest man alive.

She went quiet for a moment, and then she said, "Perhaps we should get up, so you can explain it to me."

Shit, he hadn't even realized they were still on the ground. "Right." He inched upward and frowned when he noticed the dust caking her sundress. "And we should probably get you out of these clothes."

Her eyes dimmed with something akin to desire and Mac couldn't help but smile. This was the best goddamn idea Coop had ever had.

He'd have to remember to thank him when this was all over.

CHAPTER 2

"You can't be serious."

Jess Gray could hardly believe what she was hearing, what the boy from her past was suggesting. Surely he had to be kidding, playing one of his infamous childhood pranks on her.

Perched at the edge of the ranch's crystal-clear pool, Tyler Mackenzie, aka Wildman Mac, casually rolled to his feet and stretched out his long, athletic body with the same lazy ease Jess remembered from their youth.

There wasn't a hint of teasing in his voice when he answered with, "I've never been more serious in my life."

Jess blinked against the blinding glare of the late afternoon sun reflecting on the water and struggled to wrap her mind around this unexpected turn of events. Exactly when had the invitation for a week of R&R evolved into them getting reacquainted?

Good Lord, she could only imagine what he meant by reacquainted.

She sucked in a breath, letting the aromatic scent of fresh hay and warm, country air soothe her soul. But the relaxing atmosphere did little to calm her nerves, not when Mac began to undress right before her eyes. Lacking any sort of modesty, he peeled off his T-shirt to expose a gorgeous, muscular torso, one that instantly caught Jess's attention and quite frankly, aroused her.

In a nearby pasture, a stallion whinnied, followed by a chorus of crickets. The sounds caught on a breeze and drifted past them. As she listened to the cacophony of ranch noises, Mac gifted her with a lopsided grin full of sensual promises.

"So, what do you think?" he asked as heat pooled between her thighs. He tipped his Stetson, his eyes full of fierce determination when he added, "Are you up to spending one full week here on the ranch with me ... my rules, my terms?"

His rich voice trickled down her spine and elicited a shiver from deep within. It became glaringly apparent that she was no longer staring at the class clown from her childhood, a lawless ruffian known for his practical jokes. No, the Tyler Mackenzie standing before her had grown into a man — tall, gorgeous, hard in all the right places — and while the rebellion from his youth no longer colored his personality, the Mac looking down at her now still had stubborn resolve written all over him. As she entertained his question, shocked that he'd gone to so much trouble to arrange this reunion, it occurred to her that this Mac wasn't quite so different from the one she'd known in high school after all, because when he set his mind to getting what he wanted, he'd go to extreme measures to get it as well.

And this time, he wanted her.

With her voice lodged somewhere in her throat, she didn't answer him. Instead, Jess averted her eyes, lifted her face to the sky, and drank in the sun's warmth as she mulled things over and fought the urge to gawk at his magnificent body. It was a difficult task, considering how badly she wanted to let her hungry gaze trail down the firm ridges of his abdomen, to follow the sexy line of hair that disappeared into the faded jeans that hung low on his hips and did little to hide the huge bulge pressing insistently against the zipper.

Unable to help herself, she stole another peek at him, registering every delicious detail of his fine body as sunlight spilled over him. Awareness soared through her bloodstream as her gaze shifted to his face. She took in his hard angles and noted the way he towered over her, confidence and sex dripping from his every pore as he haphazardly tossed his shirt and hat onto a lounge chair.

Her breasts grew heavy and full, highly sensitive inside her suddenly too-tight demi-bra, the telltale hardening of her nipples letting the world know what the half-naked — half-hard — cowboy was doing to her libido. Jess crossed her arms over her chest to hide her arousal and pinched her thighs together in an effort to get herself under control.

Publicly lusting after a guy was so uncharacteristic of her. Everyone knew she was shy, quiet, and conservative — a good girl who never had the nerve to put herself out there sexually, even though she'd always wanted to. This, of course, was why she kept her naughty fantasies to herself, secretly writing them down in the private journal she kept tucked under her mattress. But there was something about Mac, something from the way he moved with self-assurance to the perceptive way he looked at her, like he could see beneath the surface and read every desire that tempted the vixen inside to come out and play. The truth was, everything about him made her think about sex. Hot. Hard. Toss-me-onto-the-hay-pile kind of sex.

Her mind took that moment to careen in an erotic direction, urging her to step out of character and bring a few of her written fantasies to life. Honest to God, she'd be crazy not to, considering the boy from her youth had grown into a drool-worthy cowboy, one she'd likely never see after this week. She had no doubt getting reacquainted was a euphemism for sex, and when it came right down to it, wasn't he presenting her with the perfect opportunity to break free and indulge? She knew Mac, trusted him ... well, she trusted the boy she remembered from her youth, anyway. So why the heck shouldn't she spend the week bedded down with him? Mac was just the guy to help her play out her fantasies and take her beyond her wildest imagination.

Jess sucked in a quick breath, both shocked and excited at the direction of her thoughts. She panned the wide expanse of ranch and took in the corrals, the horses, the man-made lake off in the distance, the lodge that sat in the shadows of the towering Rocky Mountains, and the large homestead near the lodge that looked empty.

A week ago, she never would have expected to find herself smack-dab in the middle of a working dude ranch, thousands of miles away from home. But when the anonymous invitation had arrived by courier and promised a week of rest and relaxation at an all-inclusive ranch in Springvale, Alberta — a far cry from her beloved one-bedroom condo and yoga studio on Canada's East Coast — she couldn't help but be intrigued. Nor could she help but think there was a mix-up of sorts. She didn't know anyone out west, or even outside Nova Scotia, for that matter. But after a bit of research, she discovered the invitation was legitimate. She went to the airport out of curiosity, and when she recognized two women from her high school days and they all exchanged similar stories, the next thing she knew, the three of them were boarding the plane to embark on a cross-country adventure.

The last thing she expected to find was Mac and his proposal waiting on the other side for her.

4.5 Stars Wild Ride is Tyler "Mac" MacKenzie and Jess Gray's story. Mac gives his all to Jess and it's up to her to believe the Playboy or not. After all the years that passed since they last saw each other is he really the settling down type? Can he put love before work? Will she stick around to find the answers to all her questions? This is such a fun and sexy read! This series is all about second chances. Wranglers was a pleasant surprise I didn't expect to find near the ranch. These men have thought about these women for the past 10 years and they're making the most of their second chances. I can't wait to read the next book in this fantastic series! Received a copy via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. I was not compensated for my review. I was not required to write a positive review. The opinion expressed is my own.

It’s sexy hot! Tyler Mackenzie has accomplished a lot in his life. He’s the President and CEO of the most successful advertising company on the East Coast. The one thing he feels is lacking though, is that he has never forgotten one woman. Jess Gray has known Mac since they were kids. They were friends until the pressure of being cool reared it’s ugly head in school and they went with their separate groups. But she’s never forgotten him either. When he asks her to stay for a week at the dude ranch, she’s intrigued … and when he says she has to do everything he says, she’s in! ** Received free in exchange for an honest review **

4 star Jag, Tyler, and Coop decide to send invites out to the one that got away. Jag’s private Investigative Company will track down the girls and they will come up with plans to win the girls over. What could go wrong? Each woman gets an anonymous invite to working dude ranch for a week of R&R. Will the woman even show up? If you have not read the below I would recommend reading these books(s) also as they are part of this series: Slow Ride (Playing for Keeps, #1) This is Jess and Tyler (Mac)’s short story. Mac sends an invite to Jess. She lived next door to him and all he ever got was a kiss. He always wanted more but she ran from him kiss. Now all she has to do is take a chance. Once she gets to the ranch she has to do everything Mac wants her to. Is this going to be the best time of her life or a disaster in the making? Can she trust Mac with her fantasies? Can she trust him with her heart? Can Mac prove to Jess he is all she will ever need? Or is she just in this for the fun? I was able to connect with the characters and the story was a great read. I recommend this book.

Tyler Mackenzie has always cared for his childhood friend, Jess, but nothing happened in the romance department. Now he plans to change that, he invites her to his dude ranch. He plans to show her how good they would be together. Can they be lovers forever? Tyler and Jess are a perfect couple. They both care about the other and want to be both friends and lovers. The pathway to true love is filled with white hot passion. The ranch and the isolation provide a perfect backdrop for seduction. I enjoyed watching these two find their HEA. Just be aware that Wild Ride is very sexually explicit. Cathryn Fox burns up the pages with this scorching romance.

Okay, this was one sizzling hot and erotic number! Cowboys, ménage and outdoor sex, oh my! The previous book in the series, Slow Ride, was romantic and sensuous but Ms. Fox definitely upped the heat factor in this one! Tyler Mackenzie has always wondered about his high school crush Jess Gray, the girl that got away and even though he's had his fair share of female companions, she's never far from his thoughts so when the chance to explore the connection between them arises, he grabs at it with both hands. Jess Gray is in need of a distraction while she contemplates the future of her business and an all-expenses paid opportunity to visit a working ranch may be just what she needs, but she's very surprised to find that the invitation came from Tyler, her dream guy in high school. This is Jess's chance to cut loose and indulge herself and with Tyler determined to give her everything, it's the perfect time to explore some of her fantasies, no holds barred. I really enjoyed this book and in spite of how short it was, Ms. Fox did great with the characters. Tyler was easygoing and fun but he was also genuine and sincere and he pulled out the stops to give Jess what she wanted and convince her to give a relationship with him a try after their weekend at the ranch. Jess was quiet on the outside but needed just a little push to break out the naughty side she kept hidden under her good girl persona. I like that even though the heat is almost off the charts, Tyler and Jess had moments of tenderness where they explored their feelings for each other. Their bit of history was cute and gave their romance a foundation. WILD RIDE is one steamy read! Disclaimer: I received this book for free from the Publisher in exchange for an honest review. This was one really sexy story that I had to devour in one sitting. I had to know what kinky, naughty, sexy as all get out things Mac would get Jess to do. And oh momma were they hot. But underneath it all, there was a genuine, sweet, endearing heart of a man known for his wild ways. I totally adored Mac, total complete package of a man. Then there is Jess. She is an introvert, quiet and calm, only with quite a few fantasies. Reading her letting go and giving up her control to Mac was a treasured bliss. He took such excellent care of her and in return, she calmed and soothed him. They truly were a complement to each other. And their honest confessions from their youth were very heartwarming. I received this book in exchange for an honest review from the publisher.

Three weekend cowboys invite the girls they can't get off their mind to a week of R&R at their ranch. Coop has found his happy ever after with Julia. Now it's Wildman Mac's turn to find out if Jess is his one that got away. He kissed her once, and it haunts him still. Mac is nervous as the plane carrying Jess and the other girls arrives at the ranch. He knows all about Jess's darkest fantasies...he once saw what she writes in her journal at night. Mac would love nothing better than being the man that fulfills those sexual desires from now on. Jess remembers the boy who kissed her, having thought of that kiss often over the years. Can she cut loose and let Mac give her the ride of her life? Does she dare? Their week together begins, and man oh man, it's a wet dream! All Mac asks of Jess is that she trust him completely, give herself over to him without question. He plans to fulfill her every lust filled desire - even the one that has him growling in jealousy. Wild Ride is one hot, sexually explosive read! There's no doubt you'll need a cold drink or something very sexy & warm to curl up with. The sex scenes (& there's plenty of them) in this one are erotic to say the least. Fox really brings the heat as Mac & Jess explore her every fantasy together. As much as I love a good hot scene, I would have liked a little more relationship development outside the bedroom. They went from 0 to 60 very quickly, and it almost felt like too much too soon. But there are some peeks of who they both are at heart, and given the short length of the book, it's not unexpected that it would be one hot, fast, erotic read. A Must Read!

One week can change someone for a lifetime. Tyler Mackenzie has always known that his childhood friend Jess was the perfect woman for him and has harbored deep feelings for her since their high school days together. Tyler convinces Jess to come to his ranch and spends the week showing her exactly all the ways he is as perfect for her as she is for him. And of course, he is the only one who is able to fulfill all her shy, dirty fantasies she's kept hidden from the rest of the world. Wow, wow, and wow! What a fun and naughty read! I loved this novella from start to finish and really wish it could have been longer. In true novella fashion, Tyler and Jess fall into bed pretty quickly, but this was somewhat believable knowing these characters had a long past together. The sex is steamy and even kinky! This is the perfect book for those looking for a quick read that may spark some new ideas for your own bedroom. *I received an ARC from Entangled Publishing in exchange for an honest review* Mac and Jess were best friends in school but lost touch during the years after. Although Jess had a crush on Mac, she was too shy to become part of his wild high school life even though he tried to to include her. One kiss was all they shared but Mac never stopped wanting her. Now Mac is determined to see if there something real and lasting between him and the girl that got away. Jess is willing to let him fulfill her fantasies but is afraid to believe that it's more than a fling. This is a second chance for love story. I liked this book. It's an enjoyable quick read.

Wild Ride is a sexy second chance romance. It is part of a trilogy but can be read standalone. Tyler Mackenzie has made his bones in business. Now he wants more. He wants a chance with the girl he never forgot. The quite one he lusted after in high school. He has gotten her to come to a working Dude Ranch for a week and he has that long to convince her to cut loose and give him a chance. Yoga instructor Jess Gray has lusted after Tyler since he was BMOC in high school but she is the shy type and he was way too wild for her. Now she has a week away from her life and is ready to take a walk on the wild side, now if only she can keep her heart safe. Wild ride is an improbably sweet and sexy story. Mac is hot and sweet and does what he has to in order to make Jess his. This sexy read will heat you up and make you want to take a wild ride of your own.

This is a wonderful story of romance, love and a sexy good time! I really enjoyed Mac and Jess's story. They are meant to be together and you see it from the minute they see each other again after so long.

Mac has decided to contact the girl that got away, Jess is a good girl who wants to shake up her boring life and Mac is the perfect guy to experience it with. This is a fast paced steamy read with plenty of chemistry between Mac and Jess. I really liked the story as well as the characters.

This is the second book in Cathryn Fox's Playing for Keeps series. It is a HOT romance that takes place on a working dude ranch located in Springvale, Alberta. Tyler Mackenzie, Chase Cooper and Curtis Jagger came up with a plan to get the girls that got away from their past to visit their working dude ranch for a little R&R and see if they might have a future, but while waiting for the girls to get there Mac was struggling with how stupid this plan sounded until he saw Jess Gray getting off the plane. Jess had thought a free week of R&R on a working dude ranch was some kind of trick until she got there and recognized two other women from high school along with Mac, Coop and Jag. This week looked to be both relaxing and interesting the more she heard what Mac had to say. This series is a fun and hot read by Cathryn and I'm definitely looking forward to reading Jag's story next. I was given an ARC for an honest review. All conclusions are mine and mine alone.

If you're looking for a short read that will set your sheets on fire, look no further. I made the mistake of starting this at the park ..... I don't recommend it. Save it for alone time. The sexual exploration and chemistry is oozing off these two. As Jess accepts Mac's naughty proposal to see what might have been, Ms. Fox gives us a tantalizing look into the kinker side of life.

I seriously LOVED Wild Ride! Reviewed by Kim Rating: 4.5 Stars I wasn't overly crazy about the first book in the Playing for Keeps series, Slow Ride, but I had to read Wild Ride. And oh my gosh, I seriously love this standalone story. The title fits this book perfectly. Tyler “Wildman Mac” Mackenzie and his two best friends from high school have a drunken conversation, where they reminisce about the one who got away. Mac, Coop, and Jag all decide to send an anonymous invitation to the girl they can’t stop thinking about and invite her to their ranch retreat. For Mac, his girl is his childhood crush and former neighbor, Jess Gray. Growing up, Mac and Jess were always close, spending time together and understanding each other. Things changed when they got to high school. Tyler became loud and wild, in order to standout in his large family and at school. Jess continued to be the shy, introverted girl she always was. Now ten years after high school, the two are finally getting a chance to explore their feelings that have always been just buried under the surface. There aren’t enough words to express how much I loved Wild Ride. Due to her shyness, yoga instructor Jess isn’t too experienced. She does have a very vivid imagination and likes to write her fantasies down in her journal. When Mac discovers her journal, he’s determined to help her fulfill a couple of her wishes. With voyeurism, MFM action, self-discovery, and love, I found Wild Ride to be a fantastic book to lose myself in. I loved that you could feel Jess and Mac’s feelings through the pages. There’s no doubt they love and care about each other. Mac isn’t one of those male heroes who have “duh” moments who seems to be unaware of something he’s done wrong. He’s gentle and caring and truly wants what’s best for Jess. While I loved Wild Ride like crazy, I did want just a little bit more. If you read the book, then you will more than likely know what I’m talking about. I’m looking forward to the third and final novella in this series, Sweet Ride. **Received a copy from Entangled Publishing in exchange for an honest unbiased opinion.**

Whew! A wild ride indeed! This super steamy novella (beyond sexy, really) is the story of Jess and Mac. It's the second of a trilogy of books, each standalone and featuring a different couple, all about 3 guys who run a dude ranch in Alberta (though they have lives in Nova Scotia too) and their intention to bring the 3 girls they crushed on in high school to the ranch to give them a second chance at a relationship. In the case of Jess and Mac, they were friends but she was an introvert where he was an extravert, and they just gradually drifted apart. But Mac has never gotten over his crush on Jess and this is his chance to show her that she's always meant more to him than he could say. And, having peeked at her high school diary, he knows there is a sexually explorative woman hiding inside, one whose fantasies he wants to fulfill if she'll give him this week to show her that they could have a real future together. The Brazen book line is definitely moving in a kinkier direction with some of their latest stories, and this one definitely is one of those! For a novella, it packs a punch in a short amount of time, giving us the intro into Jess and Mac's history, and quickly bringing us up to speed. And by up to speed I mean indulging in some of Jess's sexier fantasies, including a visit to a sex club, a menage scene that will light your ereader on fire, and some backdoor action. But even with the emphasis on hot sex, the emotions between Jess and Mac are easy to see and I loved the two of them together. While Mac might be all about indulging in Jess's desires, he's really quite the sweetheart too and obviously cares for Jess. Jess isn't quite sure how to take this week with him, and assumes it's just going to be a no strings attached affair, not realizing until midway through that being with Mac, not just in bed but enjoying his company and his care for her, is striking a chord deep within her. She's falling for Mac and vice versa, and in the end you get a sweet love story to go with the hotness. Very enjoyable. 4 stars.

Jess Gray has always had a crush on her friend Tyler MacKenzie, but has chose to never act on it for fear of having her feelings hurt, because Mac is a no strings attached kind of guy. For the most part she lives a very neat and orderly life, and has never really been known to walk on the wild side. The closest she has ever came to being wild and daring is letting her imagination run wild, and jotting down some spicy sexual fantasies in her journal. So, when she receives an invite to stay at a ranch for one week she decides to throw caution to the wind and do something wild and unexpected for the first time in her life, and take this mysterious host up on their offer. What she doesn't expect to find is the sexy cowboy that's had a starring role in her journal fantasies, and he's making her a offer too tempting to refuse... Question is wis she ready to walk on the wild side? Tyler MacKenzie is a business tycoon during the week, and enjoys his little escapes to the countryside on the weekends. He, along with two of his friends, run a working dude ranch, and while they enjoy what they do, they have all decided it's time to settle down once and for all and find someone to share their lives with. So, they each decide to invite the one woman in their lives that they feel like they let slip away, and for Mac that woman is Jess Gray. He has admired her from afar for years, but could never quite catch her eye, so he had to settle for being her friend, but now this wild cowboy is ready to show her he can be the man to make all her fantasies a reality, and win over her heart. Now he just has to convince her that he's not the cowboy Casanova he use to be... This is the second installment in the Playing For Keeps series, and I have to say that it was equally as entertaining as the first, I have been dying to see what Ms. Fox had in store for the other two cowboys in the series, and this one DEFINITELY surpassed my expectations, Mac captured my heart after right from the start and had me smiling like a fool the whole way through! Ms. Fox has created quite the literary treat for readers with this series, I HIGHLY recommend you acquaint yourself with the men of the Playing For Keeps series, their sure to satisfy all your reading needs. . . and then some! I love Cathryn Fox's writing and this series just keeps getting better and better! These cowboys are Alpha Males that know how to make a girl happy and make them feel very special! Jess is a young lady that is a yoga instructor at her own place. When Mac send her an invitation to join him for a week on the ranch, she could never have imagined how good it was going to be. Mac has always had a thing for Jess but never acted on it. When he gets Jess to join him, he knows that he has to give her a week to remember in order to win her over. Mac makes one rule, she has to do what he says all week. Jess is not too sure about all of this at first, but when she learns to let go and let Jess lead her and treat her to some of her fantasies that she has always had, she is shocked to realize how good someone can treat her. Mac is a true cowboy and that alone in itself is a fantasy for Jess. I love how this short story shows that a guy can treat a woman with everything she wants and still be the Alpha Male as well. When the week comes to an end and it is time for Jess to head back to her life, she doesn't want to leave Mac at all. Their feelings have developed and become so strong for each other that Jess doesn't know how she is going to make it without Mac. Do Mac and Jess get their HEA? You need to read this short story to fine out. I read this one in one sitting because one you start, you won't want to put it down!! Thanks Cathryn for another great read from you and I can wait for more in this awesome series!

Wow, what a hot and steamy novella! Wild Ride by Cathryn Fox is a quick and easy read, with two main characters that are instantly likable, interesting, and have a ton of off the charts chemistry. Yoga instructor and studio owner Jess Grant, and Tyler Mackenzie, a very successful marketing guru, have known each other since grade school. They were neighbors and friends for many years, and shared a single, unforgettable kiss at their high school's Christmas dance. Now years later, Tyler and his two buddies are feeling nostalgic and decide to contact the women that "got away" for a chance at happiness. Tyler and his friends own and operate a dude ranch. Jess arrives at Tyler's ranch completely bewildered. She is surprised to see Tyler and cannot believe that he remembers so much about her. They spend their time getting to know each other once again, while living out the sexual fantasies Jess has documented in her journal since high school. By the end of the week, they are madly in love and experiencing the best sex of their loves. This is an extremely passionate novella. I just loved how Jess and Tyler came together, as they slowly rediscovered their feelings that began as teenagers. This is the second book in Ms. Fox's Playing for Keeps series, and it can be truly enjoyed as a standalone. Complimentary copy provided by the publisher via NetGalley.

Good girl, meet bad cowboy... Marketing Tycoon Tyler Mackenzie, a.k.a. Wildman Mac, has a knack for knowing what people want and, more importantly, what they need…so when he decides to show sweet and sexy yoga instructor Jess Gray that she's the one for him, he puts a seductive campaign into motion. When Mac defines the terms for the week and insists she do everything he says, Jess can't help but be intrigued. Since this good girl wants to break free and do something naughty, she agrees to his terms and soon finds herself embarking on a sexual journey that knows no limits. For Jess this is one week of living out her fantasies, but Mac is determined to make this wild ride last forever. Review: This was a quick and sexy read. I have read other stories by this author and always enjoy her writing and her characters and this was no exception. This is part of a series about three friends who agree to a week of wooing the girl(s) who got away. I have not read the first book in this series and it in no way affected my liking or enjoyment of this story. It is a novella so without rehashing the whole story in my review, let me say if you are looking for some sexy, this book should be right up your alley. Seriously, I really got into the story and characters and the book was done before I knew it. 3.5Stars *Received a copy of this book from the publisher in exchange for a fair and honest review.*

Whoa! I think my ereader might still be smoking from all the heat in this book! When Tyler MacKenzie and his buddies hatch a plan to invite "the one that got away" up to their ranch for a week, never did he expect the connection with shy reserved good girl Jess to be as intense as it is. She may be shy but if her journal is any indication, she has a wild side as well and he knows just how to bring that side out!! Really enjoyed this one. It may be short but it packs some major steam! I definitely recommend it!

I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review... HOT, hot, hot!!! Can you stand it? Another amazing book by Ms. Fox!!! It was such a great read I finished it in 4 hours. Jess has fantasies that she writes in a journal. No one knows all the secret things she thinks about, except Tyler "Mac" Mackenzie read a little bit back in high school. He hasn't forgotten Jess in all this time. He hatches a plan to bring her to his dude ranch for a week of pleasure and relaxation. Not sure if she will come he sends the invite anyway. Shockingly she shows up not knowing that he plans to seduce her and never let her go. Jess agrees to let Mac read one of her fantasies when he promises to help her act it out, only problem is she doesn't know which one it is he reads. He along with his friend Blake make one of her dreams come true. Realizing he doesn't like to share he hopes this is the last time he ever has to do that for her. As the week goes on they grow more attached and things heat up! Hoping to keep her for longer than a week Mac sets out to win Jess's heart.

I requested a copy of Cathryn Fox's Wild Ride from NetGalley and Entangled in exchange for an honest review. The premise behind the story was actually quite sweet. Jess is the shy introvert scared to take risks. Mac is the guy with the extreme personality whose heart has always belonged to Jess. Although at times the story came across as too revealing, I got what Ms. Fox was trying to do. Wild Ride is a story about trusting your instincts and not making assumptions. There was so much more to each character than what they presented on the outside. Each character has hidden layers.
