About the Author

Shelley Sommers has been writing stories since a small child. Taking side paths, she wrote hundreds of newsletters, newspaper articles, and web copy. Working for not-for-profits and schools, she trained leaders and children in life skills—and writing. She also served as a journalist and editor, ghost writer, book coach, college writing instructor, and film festival co-founder and director.

After teaching others to write for years, she decided it was time to write her own books. Focusing on romance, she found her genre! Who doesn’t like a “happily ever after?” Shelley now creates characters and puts them through hurdles until they reach their HEA. The characters are “real” and sometimes offer suggestions about what to write. They make her laugh!

When not writing novels, she writes screenplays, travels with her husband, and enjoys films, theater, reading, and cooking. Writing about vineyards required learning more about the winemaking process, which has been fascinating.

What a delightful read! In addition to the narrative, the realistic dialogue throughout carried the story forward and more completely defined the characters. I can see this novel rewritten as a screenplay and produced. There were a few secondary storylines that I'd like to see pursued (perhaps in the sequel?), such as Sophie's relationship with her family and Joe, John and Karin's fledgling romance, and the trajectory of Randy's life. Waiting for the next book to publish!
