Rowena has made an art form out of making lemonade out of the lemons life keeps handing her. Ranuff is honorable and loyal and a total A hole at times. Throw in a cast of family and friends. Some very good and some very bad. Add some problems. Some large and some small. And you have a great story. Lots of layers to it. I'm not much into medieval and I've never read Denise Domning so it was a nice surprise on both counts. Fyi----It was 703 pages on my nook. Though I do set it towards a larger print.. Thought I'd mention it because counts seem to vary

Used so many emotions in this story. The hero got my blood pressure up so many times, especially where his wife was concerned. He finally became kinder near the end of the book. Our heroine was nasty at times, but you also felt so sorry for her because she wanted to be loved. There are do many unanswered questions, I suppose they are answered in the next book in the series. There is a somewhat HEA. There is mild descriptive lovemaking, not vulgar. Also, a lot of action, suspense and twists. The secondary character's are written so well too, that you feel like you know them. Some will make you want them as friends and others for enemies. (Ljb)

I had never read Ms. Domning work, but with winter heat I will forever be a fan. The story just flows (total of 703 pages!!!), it's better than watching a movie, there's no dragging or anything that I can't find fault with. I felt in love with Rowena and Rannulf story from the first page, not to mentioned that I paid $.99 for 703 pages full of history, love, and a great story that could have been taken from the pages of real life. Can't wait to read "Spring Fury"...already had a glimpse of Nicola and Gillian story and can't wait to find out what happens to them and the rest of the FitzHenry clan.

The book held my interest but I got pretty annoyed with the constant fighting between the two main characters. One was abusive the other started a fight over just about anything. These were not particularly likable characters altho some of the sub-characters showed promise.

This books sounds very familiar.  In fact, two of the four books in the current series seem like re-published books.  How come the publishing date does not disclose this is a re-issue?  I'm a fan and I'm sure if I dig through my old "keep" pile, I'll find this one somewhere.  Frustrated because if one or two in the new series is actually NEW, I'd buy them, but since the sales tactics are deceptive and not honest about when it was actually written, I'm not wasting my money on yet another book I've already read.  Thanks but no thanks!
