With This Man by Jodi Ellen Malpas

Jesse Ward is back in the newest novel in the #1 New York Times bestselling This Man series!

"The raw emotion and vulnerability is breathtaking." - RT Book Reviews

"Super steamy, emotionally intense" - Library Journal

Life is good for Jesse "The Lord" Ward. Perfect, actually. He still has the charm, he's in great shape, and he still reduces his wife, Ava, to a pool of desire with a mere look. He's in full control, just how he likes it.

But Jesse's perfect world falls apart when a terrible accident lands Ava in the hospital with a life-threatening head injury. Devastated and angry, he feels like his entire existence hangs in the balance. He cannot survive without this woman's love. So when she finally comes around, his shaking world begins to level out. But his nightmare doesn't end there. It's only just begun. Because his wife can't remember the last sixteen years of her life. That's all of him. All of their time together. He is a stranger to her.

Now Jesse must do whatever it takes to find her memories . . . and help her fall madly, passionately in love with him all over again.

About the Author

Jodi Ellen Malpas was born and raised in the Midlands town of Northampton, UK, where she lives with her family. Working for the family construction business fulltime and with the prospect of taking it over once her father retired, she tried to ignore the lingering idea of writing a novel until it became impossible. She finally found the time and courage to release her creative streak and in October 2012 self-published This Man as an e-book. She took a chance on a story with some intense characters, notably Mr. Jesse Ward, the Lord of the Manor, and sparked incredible reactions from women all over the world. Two months later, Jodi made the decision to give up her day job to concentrate on her new and very unexpected career in writing.

I loved the This Man series and was so looking forward to this book, but it was so disappointing. I honestly wish I hadn't read it, it's now tarnished the series too much. There was virtually a non-existent plot, other than to re-cap the first 3 books and re-write the same pathetic plot of the same pathetic characters. No imagination whatsoever. Then to pathetically kill off the one great, beloved supporting character, was utterly asinine. I've recommended this series and the other JEM books to so many friends. It kills me to have to write a negative review, but it's honest.

5 Star Review With This Man by Jodi Ellen Malpas I have been anxiously awaiting the release of the latest book in one of my favourite series ever since it was announced. With This Man by Jodi Ellen Malpas was everything I hoped for and so much more. Jesse and Ava have always held a special place in my heart, but now I have to say that Jesse Ward is now one of my top book boyfriends of all time. Until I read and listened to this book I had no idea just how much I have missed these characters and his wonderful Jesse-isms. With This Man had me laughing out loud so many times and sobbing too. Jodie wove together a true masterpiece that absolutely did justice only to the Ward family but also their extended family of friends. Not only did I read this one but I immediately also purchased the audible version to listen to it as well. The audible addition was great to listen to. It brought across the angst, worry , frustration, humour and fear so much that my heart was palpitating at times. For fear of saying too much and to be honest I do not think any words I write will do this book justice, I am not going to say any more, other than to state that if you are a fan of this author and her series, then this is a must read. Jesse "The Lord" is back. Five years after the release of This Man Confessed, we have a new book where we can keep track of what happened to Jesse and Ava. With a leap of thirteen years, we see what happened to the Wards, how their lives are. And I can say that after so long, this is wonderful. Jesse and Ava are still married and have retained all that passion that has always marked them. The twins, now teenagers, are part of the plot, the family interaction is an important part of the narrative. At age 50, Jesse still fret about the age difference between him and his wife, though he does not admit it. He remains explosive, controlling and above all, very passionate. All kinds of "lovemaking" still exist, as does the fact that Ava is his life. When she suffers an accident, Jesse's well-calculated world comes down. The book will make the reader cry. If you, like me, are a fan, watching what happens to them and being unable to do anything, after so many things that they have already gone through, is pure torture. I cried for Ava and I suffered with Jesse. Unable to do anything to help her, Jesse then decides to fight with the weapons he has: he'll show Ava why she fell in love with him. He will guide her on a journey through ancient memories. And at this point we see what bright Jodi Ellen is. She was able to merge important facts from the series in this new book, which added a beautiful tone to the plot. Being able to revisit and remember all these scenes was very special. And more special was to witness how much Jesse and Ava love is really epic. The two not only fell in love in the past, but in the present with everything that happened, they fall in love again. Ava loves this strange man and Jesse fortifies his love for her, proving that he loves her no matter the circumstance. The classic scenes are a great bonus for the reader: the meeting at The Manor, the purchase of the infamous short dress, the drunkenness with the girlfriends, the calla lily, John's rides, the peanut butter, my favorite - the jokes at Jesse’s age, among others. All this served to connect the original trilogy with this new book. The other characters also give their faces: Matt, Sarah, Kate, Sam, Drew, Raya, John. All are part of the story and gain their own highlight. A threat from the past returns to disturb the couple already so fragile by all events. And in the midst of so much drama, so many memories of the past, the reading is blended between joys and sorrows. The final unfolding of the climax, I confess I did not like it. I did not like what happened to an important character. It was not necessary for Jesse to finally realize that he can not control everything, detach himself from the past, and finally walk with his own legs. That was the only fault within the work in my opinion. Jodi Ellen once again managed to deliver to readers a beautiful book involving Jesse and Ava, proving that Jesse is really her main character, the most important of her career. As a reader I loved another new book of my favorite characters. As a fan, I was ecstatic with the brilliance of the book, how all the original material was honored and how this new book completes a brilliant trilogy. But deep down, I wish I had kept the sweet illusion of the end of the third book.

If I could have given With This Man 10 Stars it still wouldn’t be enough, I finished this book a while back but I needed to find the words to do Jesse and Ava and off course Jodi Ellen Malpas justice. I never released how much i missed the lovable, cocky, hot man we have come to know as The Lord until I read this book, well I have actually read this book a couple of times because the first time I was up all night reading I devoured it but the second time I took my time and I fell in love with Jesse all over again. In this book we get more of the tender side of the man who will do what ever is needed for the love of his life and yes I cried infact I would go as far as saying I sopped but every tear I shed was worth it because this book is one of the best books I have ever read, a love story second time around for Ava and it brought back all those memories of falling in love with this couple from way back when this series first started with This Man. Jodi Ellen Malpas gave us what we needed she gave us a book that not only brought back memories but a book that created new memories of the Ward family. Thank you this is my book of 2018 !!!!

I fell in love with Jesse Ward ever so long ago and as many times as I've read the first three books in this series it always brings a smile to my face when I think of these characters. With This Man just made it that much more of an amazing series. I loved every minute of this book, every smile, tear and laugh (both the happy and sad ones) I look forwarding to including this book in my binge reads for many years to come.

With This Man by Jodi Ellen Malpas is the fourth book, and a standalone, in the This Man series. Get ready for the countdown, twelve years later... Told in dual POV this book is an in-depth view into Jesse and Ava's life twelve years on from where we left them last. Nothing has changed, only gotten better. More loving, more emotion, more love, more peanut butter. The twins are twelve and rambunctious and awesome. They deal with their parents "gross" displays of affection as best they can (LOL) and are great kids. The book is detailed and I'm going to leave my review vague so as not to spoil anything but as you know from the blurb, there is an accident and Ava loses the last 16 years of her memories. Jesse, the kids, everything. These two falling in love again - working through all the massive issues a traumatic injury and event like this causes is detailed and emotional. Not a quick read but an absolutely fabulous one. I switched between audio and ebook on this one and the narrators are amazing too. Loved it! Enjoy!

Jesse Ward is getting older even though he doesn't want to accept it, he is still in great shape and he is still the Lord, but he is looking at fifty and not real happy about it. Other than that, life is perfect for the Lord and his Lady, of course Jesse is still Jesse just a more mature version. When a horrible accident lands Ava in the hospital, Jesse is terrified that he will lose her. Just when things start looking up Jesse finds out that Ava doesn't remember him, their life together, their twins, nothing, the last sixteen years are just blank. Well Jesse is having none of that, he will make her remember him and love him again, end of. If you are a fan of this series, this is a must read. It has all the feels, laughter, tears, heartbreak and joy. The twins are great, all the old characters are back, and even a couple of new characters are entwined in the story. I have thoroughly enjoyed this series and feel like this is the perfect ending. Five-ish stars for this one!!

WOW! Yes, I feel like I’m still on Central Jesse Cloud Nine. I fell in love with Jesse and Ava in This Man. This couple is captivating and Jesse is this amazing, over-the-top, control freak who loves Ava with every cell in his body. When his world is challenged with Ava losing her memories of him, well, Jesse shows that determination again as he woos Ava all over again. The family dynamic is wonderful, Jesse is an amazing Dad even as his children challenge just like Ava did at every turn. The love is felt on every page as Ava rediscovers her love of Jesse. The road is not easy, it never is for Jesse and Ava, but it is such a beautiful journey to experience.

Jesse Ward. The Lord. I fell in love WITH THIS MAN and this series all over again! Jessie trampled my heart…but will he trample Ava’s? This book is not a retelling of everything that happened in the first three books. With This Man, takes place years after Jessie and Ava’s story ended in This Man Confessed. Ava is in a severe car accident and sustains a brain injury. She wakes up not remembering Jesse and her children. They are erased from her memory, and now Ava believes that she is a single 22-year-old. Jesse has to make Ava fall in love with him all over again. He is determined to get Ava’s heart to remember him. Let's face it, Jesse can be an acquired taste, so he has his work cut out for him. But who can forget The Lord? There is no one like Jesse Ward. With This Man is primarily told from Jesse’s point of view, which was brilliant in itself. JEM seamlessly peppered this story with the right amount of history, without making this book feel like it was just a regurgitation of the earlier books in this series. She created a brand new, fresh, sexy, and captivating romance. Getting into Jesse's crazy, cocky and demanding brain was everything! Before I picked this book up, I wondered if I was going to feel lost since I started this series in 2013. Let me tell you there is no way you will forget The Lord and Ava’s roller coaster ride of a romance. Dare I say, this might be one of my favorite books by JEM! FIVE stars!

OH MY GAWD - JESSE WARD IS BACK!!!! I was soooo excited to read this - The This Man Trilogy is one of my all time favourite reads, I just couldn't get enough of Jesse and Ava and their unique relationship. But I was a little nervous, could Jodi pull off the massively difficult task of making Book 4 just as good as the other 3?? The Wards are now owners of an elite gym, the twins Maddie and Jacob are now 12 yrs old and are quite used to their Mum and Dad's unique style of relationship. Jesse is about to hit the big 5-0 birthday, and he's less than impressed by this!! But in general life itself couldn't get any better, Jesse and Ava have everything they have ever wanted and are still blissfully happy. But tragedy strikes out of the blue, sending their world into a complete spiral. Ava is involved in a car accident and suffers from a horrible head injury. Jesse and his children are devastated and their world hangs in the balance as they wait and see if Ava recovers. She regains consciousness and Jesse heaves a massive sigh of relief, only to be plunged into the depths of despair as it becomes apparent that Ava has amnesia, and cannot remember the last 16 yrs of her life - to Ava, Jesse and their twins don't exist, she has no memories at all, and Jesse has the fight of his life on his hands to get Ava to fall in love with him all over again, after everything they have been through!!! Oh my goodness, within the first few pages of starting this I blissfully back on Central Jesse Cloud Nine and loving it!! The family of the Wards was just as I imagined it would be - Jesse still is domineering, possessive, dirty and beautiful self and Ava is still as sassy as ever, loving Jesse with everything she is, pushing all his buttons, bringing light to his world. Their twins Maddie and Jacob and like mini me's of their parents - Maddie is just like Ava - sassy, fiery, mouthy, knows how to push Dad's buttons and knows how to wrap him round her finger. Jacob is just like Jesse in looks, but is very laid back in his temperament, very supportive and loving. They are used to Mum and Dad's spontaneous showings of affection, in keeping with Jesse's saying to Ava of "Wherever, whenever". I loved it!! I was laughing out loud at their antics and had a permanent smile on my face. Until I didn't. Until Ava has her accident. Then I was heartbroken. Jesse was heartbroken, completely lost, vulnerable. And then you find out she has no memories of their life together - I was floored, I could only imagine how Jesse felt!!! Jesse has the battle of all battles, trying to making Ava fall back in love with him, when he was always of the opinion he didn't deserve her love in the first place, how the hell was he supposed to get her to love him and his ways a second time!!! What an emotional read this is!!! I went through a massive range of emotions reading this, being brought back into Jesse's world, but under such heartbreaking circumstances - you get ALL THE FEELS HERE - love, laughter, passion, angst, heartbreak, anger, frustration, hope - I was a wreck!!! Saying that, this was an utter pleasure to read, to be back full circle in Jesse's world. The writing is phenomenal, the story immersive, completely captivating, and the characters are an absolute joy. I couldn't put it down and was utterly invested in their story. If you've read any of JEM's books, particularly This Man Series, you will love this. Told mainly from Jesse's POV, which is a bloody treat in itself,

The Lord is Back !!!. There's a reason he's still the number 1 alpha Hero of all time ! He's passionate, he's drool worthy, he tramples resistance, but his heart is a bottomless pool full of immense love for Ava. Only her. No other woman dead or alive will turn his head or his heart. And his little peanuts- Maddie and Jacob.  "I've still got it. I suddenly feel like the God she thinks I am . The God I know I am "  No truer words have been spoken or written ! Of course he's arrogant and full of cockiness, because HE'S A GOD !! And even at 50, he's all muscle and raw sexuality, I still drool at the sight of his naked torso ( did I say that out loud !?) I meant Ava....Ava!!. Anywho, he's like in the prime of his life. Beautiful, gorgeous wife, two adorable kids -Maddie & Jacob, and his best pals around him.life couldn't get any better , could it ? My wife. My children. Their love. It’s pure bliss, ladies. Total gratification.  Absolute, complete, Earth-shifting, universe-shaking love.  Don’t tell me there’s anything more perfect than this. I wouldn’t believe you.  And then life flips over and crashes badly. All is broken and all is forgotten........ I cried so badly for him. He climbed the Everest to get Ava to fall in love with him the first time, does he have time to do it again? . What's the guarantee that his ferocious love will be enough again to dissipate the fog around them!! But he's not persistent, if nothing else. My Lord Of The Manor! Woe is me! “It’s been consumed by me for thirteen years, lady. I’m not about to let you forget our story. I will make you remember. It’s my mission objective. I’ll do anything.”  The book is full of helpless love and overwhelming despair, yet there's also insurmountable, fierce determination to reverse the tides of fate, Cause wth Lord Of The manor doesn't give up so easily!!. Even if he has to fight the Almighty God himself!!! And the fight is hard, and exhausting , and debilitating, and excruciating. It's like learning to walk again, feel again, learn again, operating washer again. Jesse is at breaking point multiple times but he has a goal to work towards -getting his life back. His life with his Love and family. The usual Lord's humour is intact...Thank God  I can be reasonable. I don’t know why everyone constantly barks on about my unwillingness to flex. I flex every day of my damn life. And  Red flag. Bull on the loose. That's all I'm saying  I jumped when i heard that Lord is getting his book again. And I couldn't wait to meet him and ogle him. Jodi has been very generous with Jesse in this book. There's a whole lot of him to love, admire and support. Mostly in his POV,The book is enjoyable journey of Jesse who learns to breathe deep, give a little space and hang in there. Being a rock solid for his family to hang on to while the rough storm rocks their Family Boat. The end slayed me. At one point I was like , thank god for divine intervention and the other I was oh god why didn't you interfere sooner.. I'm officially in Paradise with the Wards, floating gently on #CentralJesseCloudNine  Life is better already 5 gently-gently stars
