I'd give it 1/2 star. Although this book speaks about some basic steps, it in no way prepares a beginner with techniques for carving. It speaks of obvious steps but not really how to accomplish them well. Save a buck and spend on a real carving book by Lara Irish or Chris Pye for instance.
Short but inexpensive. Wish there had been a picture or two but still worth the money to read.
