World Outside My Window

If imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, then Stevie Wonder should feel very appreciated by neo-soul vocalist Glenn Lewis. In fact, Lewis sounds uncannily like his idol on the breakout single "Don't You Forget It" -- first included on the 2001 compilation Red Star Sounds, Vol. 1: Soul Searching. But there's more to this burgeoning Canadian lover man than his Wonder-ful tendencies. Full of lushly orchestrated ballads and slickly produced mid-tempo tracks about love (the acoustic guitar-driven "Something to See"), loss (the syncopation- and harmony-driven plea to reunite, "Never Too Late"), retribution (the tale of a best friend's betrayal, "It's Not Fair"), and forgiveness (the bluesy "Sorry"), World Outside My Window establishes Glenn Lewis as a formidable artist in his own right.

From 99 on down to now, the world have been priviledged to have such refined artists shine through what we now call neo-classic soul. Artists such as D'Angelo, Angie Stone, Jill Scott just to name a few have blessed us with their style of smoky yet refined taste of soul bringing back flashback of old school grooves. Such can be said about Glen Lewis, a new kat setting the stage for new young talent to emerge on the scene for 2002. His vocal talents which is a mixture in my opinion from old school talent Stevie Wonder and new school Chico DeBarge gives the listener a soothing invitation into the World Outside His Window. Dealing with such topics such as betrayal(It's not Fair),forgiveness(Sorry), reaping what you sow(Lonely), and of course his first hit Don't You Forget It, which deals with a loved one dealing with pressures of the world by themselves. One may think after hearing this if Glen is really a disciple of the great Stevie Wonder. I recommend this cd to anyone due to the artistic approach into a new era of neo-classic soul that Glen is now taking us into.

Well, Lionel Rithie was recently reported to have said that most of the artists out there today(Black, of course) sound like Stevie Wonder. But as U read D'Angelos comments in Voodoo... there really is nothing wrong in young artists paying 'tribute' to their favourite artiste.. Afterall how can anyone re-write the greatness of Donny, Curtis, Marvin, Sly and of course Stevie. So of course when U hear so many of the albums today.. there are many reminisence of those timeless classics. WORLD OUTSIDE MY WINDOW is definitely no difference. It's pure STEVIE WONDER! But with a new name GLENN LEWIS. All love and respect to GLENN. A lot of people seem to be taking credit away from him. I think he has done a terrific job with this. I absolutely love, Lonely, Don't U Forget It, It's not fair, Sorry, Something to see... The album is just terrific. Thank God for these blessed souls who are bringin back real music! Soul music. ONE LOVE! LOVE41ANOTHER. Check out his Philly Brothas Boyz II Men's Upcoming album Full Circle! Unbelievable Stuff!!!!! The single Right On Time!

Wow I was so impressed with this new artist. He can sound just like Stevie Wonder yet he has his own style as well. I like him a lot and hope he's remain around for a long time.

I read a review by Replay magazine the other day and they gave this album a 63 out of 100. But they turned around and gave a white female rapper a 91. I don't get it. Glenn did an exceptional job on this album and it is not being fully appreciated. USA Today gave it a 2 and 1/2 rating. Do this ''critics'' actually listen? Do they know good R&B music? Obviously not. What did they give Carl Thomas?, Musiq?, D'Angelo?, Mint Condition? People need to quit tripping and enjoy this jewel Mr. Lewis dropped on the world and get past the voice comparisons.

This album epitomizes the neo-soul movement. The parallels between he and Stevie Wonder are so astounding that it'd be easy to mistake some tracks for Stevie's own. The soul/funk/r&b blend is fresh relief from the pop that has worn out our radios the past few years. Lewis brings great, genuine, inspiring lyrics and amazing vocals (the vocals on ''this love'' are mindblowing!) to accompany the polished, well-orchestrated backgrounds on the album. Any Stevie Wonder fan will be excited for the potential of things to come.

First off, I must admit that the only reason I bought this CD is because I returned Jay-z's Blueprint (One very overrated CD). But don't get me wrong, I am glad that G. Lewis's CD is now in my collection. Lewis' album is HOT! With such tracks as Beautiful Eyes, Lonely (my personal fav), One More Day (very Stevie W.), and It's Not Fair (the intro sounds like Stevies' All In Love is Fair)I am sure it will be platinum in no time! If you loved Musiq Soulchild's Aijuswannaseing, Then you most def will enjoy this very successful debut.

Glenn Lewis is generally a new sound for American ears that will undoubtedly sway even the pickiest of listeners. Combining Rhythm & Blues with upbeat sounds, ''World Outside My Window'' delivers everything the R&B fan can enjoy and more. With his first single, ''Don't You Forget It'' already under his belt, Lewis' talent is beautifully orchastrated in this song reportedly about a problem his (ex-)girlfriend was facing. ''World Outside My Window'' is a must have and should not disappoint.

Ever since I've purchased Glenn Lewis's album, I just can't seem to put it down. I hardly listen to anyone else besides him because I feel that a lot of other artists don't compare to him. I get excited everytime I hear his voice. Glenn Lewis is a very talented vocalist and songwriter. Definitley purchase his album, you wont be sorry.

This cd is definitely unique. Each song has its own sound. You definitely can sit back and enjoy the music with this cd. Most of the songs Glenn Lewis wrote himself. He's definitely a talented man and I would highly recommend this cd to anyone. With a voice similar to Stevie Wonder, how can you go wrong? Believe me, you will not be disappointed.

Glenn Lewis brings a familiar old-school American sound to the table reminiscent of Stevie Wonder and updates it. The tracks are mostly very, very good. With funky synthesizer, catchy beats, and lush harmonies, Glenn Lewis brings the Philadelphia-based new soul revolution to exciting new heights. As we come out of the R&B era and back to soul, Lewis' genuine and inspiring lyrics are a breath of fresh air from the bubble gum lyrics and pop beats that characterize too much of the past few years' R&B. Glenn Lewis is one of the great vocalists of today and he does all the vocals and harmonies on this album. The comparisons between Lewis and Stevie are evident in the music style (including synthesizer, great drum licks, and complicated chord structures) and his vocals. Lewis' voice is often unmistakably reminiscent of Stevie's and the album sounds like a throwback to the sixties or seventies at times. This album is creative, well-produced, and features great talent. I haven't stopped listening to it and I'm sure I'll be listening for years to come.

Glen Lewis is in a word AWESOME. His voice is soothing his lyrics are real and heartfelt and he can REALLY sing!! About time we got some soul back on the charts!!! I feel like Glen is so SLEPT on...I hope that a few more of his songs are pushed before his sophomore release. I really appreciate him as an artist and I know that he will blow up like he should. He is a mix between Donnie Hathaway and Stevie Wonder!! what a treat!! :)
