Worth the Wait (Guthrie Brothers Series #2) by Lori Foster

Ready or not…love will find a way

Single dad Hogan Guthrie is getting his life back on track, and working as the “barbecue master” at a local diner is just a temporary detour. He and restaurant owner Violet Shaw constantly butt heads…until one night they end up mingling other parts instead. Hogan thought he had the recipe for happiness all figured out. But loyal, carefree Violet is daring him to trust his impulses…and see just how sweet small-town living—and loving—can be.

Nathan Hawley traded his SWAT team credentials for a sheriff’s badge, but a gorgeous new neighbor is shaking up his orderly life. Nathan has a hunch there’s more to Brooklin Sweet than meets the eye—but given her caution about getting involved, he has his work cut out for him. Still, there’s something about the elusive beauty Nathan can’t walk away from—and helping her come to terms with her past might pave the way to the future they both secretly long for.

Worth The Wait has everything you could want in a book. Romance, Humor and a little bit of suspense. As luck would have it, Lori Foster treated us to two Heroines that are strong, smart, beautiful and full of independence to partner with two Heroes that will make your heart swoon.

Worth The Wait by Lori Foster Series: Guthrie Brothers book 2 2.5 Stars - I was really looking forward to this book. I totally enjoyed the first and I loved the potential the other characters had for their own stories. What worked for me: - 2 for 1 romance - Loved the side romance between Nathan and Brooklin. I actually liked it more than the leads. -In the beginning both couples have witty banter and good chemistry. -Loved Colt and his parts in this book -Happy to see that some of the chemistry was back near the end of the book. What didn't work for me: -As soon as the lead couple had sex, the tension and chemistry seemed to get lost and they focused too much on worrying that perhaps their relationship was only just sex. -Both men seemed a bit too overprotective, to the point that it makes the heroine seem like he thinks her an invalid. -From about just over halfway till pretty much the last chapter, it was mostly sex scenes, or what seemed to be scenes put in place just to lead up to sex. Just lost interest and skimmed them. I see there are a bunch of rave reviews for this book, so perhaps I am alone in my thoughts. For me, it was missing the tenderness and fluttery “romance" feels that I look for. That said, I am glad I finished the book, and honestly, if Colt gets his own story, I would like to read it. *I received and ARC in exchange for an honest review* ~Paragraphs and Petticoats~

Lori Foster is an author to be reckoned with. Her stories always pull me in and Worth the Wait was no exception! With two romances packed into one delicious read, you'll be pretty taken with this author as well. Single dad Hogan Guthrie and restaurant owner Violet Shaw have been circling each other since Hogan became her part-time barbecue master. Violet is one of those fierce, strong and independent women I love to read about, but she just can't resist teasing and tempting Hogan. Nathan Hawley went from a high-action career in SWAT to small town sheriff. When Brookline Sweet moves in next door with all the signs of someone trying to remain unnoticed, he goes into alpha protective mode. At first I didn't think I would enjoy having to separate romantic story lines. I didn't see how it could work because I'm so used to emotionally investing in one relationship. I didn't have to worry, though, because these two romances are loaded and Lori Foster doesn't miss a beat. Their stories flawlessly intertwine into one amazing plot with a little suspense on the side. If you're already a fan of Lori Foster, then you know what to expect: awesomeness. If you have yet to try anything by her, this is a great start along with her Body Armor Series. *Review copy provided in consideration for review*

Lori Foster doubles the pleasure with twice the sexy sweetness and a smidge of mystery. Small town reads are my addiction and Brooklin and Nathan with their penchant for unpredictability, stir up trouble, while Hogan and Violet spice up their lives with a bit of wicked temptation. Hot fun meets the danger zone making the tittle a perfect. Lori Foster is worth the wait.

4.5 Stars Worth the Wait is my favorite book thus far in this series. I loved getting to know both Hogan and Violet better, as well as seeing characters from the first book, Don't Tempt Me, in which we originally met both Violet and Hogan. Hogan has been through the ringer and has since developed quite the reputation for himself, and Violet is a force to be reckoned with. Fate kind of throws them together and lets just say things get hot and not just on the barbeque grill. I also really loved Hogan's son teenage son Colt, who plays a big part in the story as well. Along side Hogan and Violet's story, we also get to experience Nathan and Brooklin's story. Being the Sheriff, Nathan can't help but notice his hot new mysterious neighbor, and despite her reluctance, he is determined to wear her down. His persistance pays off and Brooklin warms up to him, but her past also threatens not only her, but her new friends. This adds a feeling of danger and suspense to the story, which interweaves into Hogan and Violet's story as well. Lori Foster does an excellent job telling the stories and knitting them together beautifully. I loved the romance and close friendship all the characters have, and the fact that they are all neighbors. There is just the right amount of humor mixed in with the suspense and danger, and enough sizzle to serve up a delicious feast for fans of Lori Foster, and contemporary romance fans in general. I enjoyed this book and definitely recommend it.

Another hit by Lori Foster. I LOVED this book. I loved reading Hogan, Violet and Colt's story. To see them all growing in different ways. Hogan trying to put what his wife did to him in the past, Violet working hard and getting Hogan to work for her at Screwy Louie's. Colt being a teenager trying to get through school and meeting a girl that he befriends and than takes as his girlfriend. Hogan went through a wild spell and Violet was jealous the whole time but he and her just made sense..I love how he woke up to the realization that Violet was the one and how good she is with Colt. I also liked how Nathan and Brooklin's story was weaved in with Hogan and Violet. How they all became good friends and how they stood up for each other and stuck my each other with the person that is stalking Brooklin. If you read Don't Tempt Me you MUST read Worth The Wait..It sucked you in from the first page til the last. You laugh, giggle and even shed a few tears as you go along. This is another wonderful Lori Foster book that I would recommend to any reader..If you have never read her books you most definitely should!

Greatly entertaining and edgy stories about life in a tight-knit community and love that grows over time, and blooms when you least expect it. I enjoyed each of the three couples, and their road to happiness, even the young-adult-potential-future-couple that was rather tender and sweet start of something possibly lasting and lifelong. Because Cole was just that smart, advanced, mature 17-year old, that he could be making those kind decisions even at that young age. My absolutely favorite thing in the book was the relationship between Cole and his dad, Hogan Guthrie. The open, honest, mellow connection between them was an amazing thing to witness. They talk, they tease, they disagree, a little, and they share life, the good, the bad, and the ugly. They respect and trust each other in an admirable way, that had me smiling and sighing through the tale. But don't get me wrong, the romance stories were very entertaining, as well. I read the book at one sitting, the story mesmerized and pulled me in. The possible danger to the characters kept the story on the edge, with the emotional roll-a-coaster keeping the feelings in a turbulent state. Of course, when two (and a half) love stories are put into one book, you might be left with the feeling that you wanted more insides of both the couples, more in-depth characters, more details of the development of the relationships. I didn't get that at the end of this book, even though I do recognize the fact that it was more of a charming tale than a deeply emotional, angsty story. Hogan was an outgoing, fun characters, a loyal friend and brother, and a great father. He used to be a hound dog but had redeemed his ways and the reasons for his behavior were well explained, and even understandable. I really liked him, he made it easy with his charm. Violet Shaw was the perfect match for him. I liked how it took time for the relationship to develop, how they had to figure out things before they made it public and before the commitment was made. Violet has worked since a young girl, she had been a loner, carrying a responsibility for the business and for her life. The growing feelings she has towards Hogan causes some turbulence at first, but soon the desire wins all obstacles. While Hogan and Violet try to figure it all out, Nathan Hawley goes straight to the matter with his new neighbor, Brooklin Sweet. Brooklin has secrets, potentially dangerous secrets. The danger is lurking around and everyone will be surprised how it plays out. The two romances are intertwined, and the stories overlap with each other in a natural way. The sexy scenes are steaming hot, yet they are well written and take the plot forwards, an essential addition to the tales. A community where I want to live in, friends I want to call my own, love finding its way through life's ups and downs, making the past acceptable and the future look bright. I enjoyed my time with the Guthries and their friends, I wish I could have stayed for awhile longer... A book filled with charming, engaging characters that you will miss! ~ Four Spoons

I really enjoyed this book. There's romance, humor and sexy times. Hogan and Violet are perfect for each other. Violet is a spunky, sassy independent woman who complements Hogan. The banter and chemistry between them was fantastic. I loved the relationship between Hogan and his son, Colt. Even get a little bit of story from Colt's perspective which was great. There is a second romantic storyline of Nathan and Brooklin. They are sweet together and she added to the intrigue to the story. Add Jason (Hogan's brother) and Honor, Sullivan and Lexie (from the previous book) into the mix and you have a yourself the makings of a fun, fantastic story. I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader copy of this book.

So worth the wait! Lori Foster is one of the best at bringing laughter and sexiness together in a wonderful story. Absolutely loved the glimpses back at the couples from the first book in the series, the way the stories weave into each other is just one of my favorite things about Lori’s books. Violet and Hogan are such a fun couple to watch find their way toward each other I wasn’t ready for the book to end. I would truly love a future story with Hogan’s son Colt as a main character he is just so adorable! Brooklin and Nathan’s story was the cherry on top in the book with the added suspense that it brought to the storyline. I just can’t say enough about how much I enjoyed this book and can’t wait to see what is next! I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Lori Foster has given us another great story and it was Worth the Wait. I love the all the characters in this town. They have been fun to get to know thru the great stories Lori has written. I do not want to give any spoilers. This is a story about Violet and Hogan as well as Nathan and Brooklin. These characters are amazing in how strong their friendships become. They are all there for each other to help out and support each other no matter what the need. This story has it all. It will make you laugh, cry and read faster to see what is happening. I can’t wait for the next book in this series. I received an ARC of this book for an honest review.

I received a digital ARC in exchange for an honest review. I loved the book. The main characters are Hogan and Violet. It centers on them getting a second chance at love hence –worth the wait. I like the secondary story line of Nathan and Brooklin as well. I see a book in the future for Colt’s story (hopefully). The book has everything -suspense, love, sexy alpha males, strong independent women and humor. You can’t go wrong with one.

I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review. There is nothing but praise for Lori Foster’s books! It definitely was “Worth the Wait”! Violet was what Hogan needed, a strong independent woman - someone who knew what she wanted. Violet bid her time with Hogan and he was the worth the wait. Hogan may have been a player at first but he turned out to be kind, thoughtful, caring and giving after all, especially when it came to Colt and Violet. Even though Nathan’s and Brooklin’s storyline didn’t get too detailed, they were still a funny and cute couple. Handsome, strong and upfront, Nathan never gave up on Brooklin. He knew what he wanted and went for it. Brooklin never had a chance! Would love to read Colt’s story!

The title of this book nails it! This book is definitely worth the wait and worth both your time and money. I thoroughly enjoyed the entire book from beginning to end. Worth the Wait is a great follow-up to the first book in this series, Don’t Tempt Me, and we not only get two great romances but we get to revisit the characters from the first book. This book has everything you need- humor, conflict, sexy guys, and strong women. I highly recommend both books in this series. You won’t be disappointed!

This series...Lori Foster has done it again. Is there anyone better at filling pages full of good old fashioned feels? In my opinion, NO. Lori Foster is the best. This new series reads much like Lori's earlier Buckhorn series. Family, doing what's right and protecting those you love, are what's most noticable in this book. Oh don't be disappointed because there's plenty of hot, steamy chemistry between Hogan and Violet. I love Violet! She's spunky and strong willed and I love how she stands toe to toe with hunky Hogan. Hogan is so lovable. Always wanting to do what's best for his son and trying to make up for past mistakes. He's torn and broken in a beautiful way. Worth The Wait also gives us a second story between Nathan and Brookline that will have you chewing your nails and guessing wrong. ( At least I did). And Hogan's son Colt. Only have questions concerning that young man's future. Hopefully this amazing author will write his story and put me out of my misery. Thank you for the chance to read and review this book Lori.

Too Late! I was tempted in book one and this one was definitely worth the wait! Whenever you read an author's stories and get pulled into that series world you don't want it to end. Such is the way it is reading Lori Foster's books. You CAN'T believe that you'll love her next series as much as you did the last one, I mean they feel like your family or friends. You can't wait to hear more about them. Then she starts a new series like The Guthrie Brothers. I LOVED the first book Don't Tempt me with strong willed Honor and Jason, and getting to know the characters for future books. I loved how you got two love stories in one in that book, and again in this one. When reading the first book you found yourself getting to know Hogan, Violet, and Nathan and couldn't wait to read their happily ever afters! If you haven't read the first one, do yourself a favor and grab it up. As always, I can't wait for Lori's next amazing story. There's humor, suspense, and of course an amazing love story. Plus, you know other characters you're introduced to will find their way into another amazing "Lori Story". What more could you want in a romance? I was privileged enough to get an advanced copy through NetGallery in exchange for an honest review..

Loved this book. I had many laugh out loud moments. There is great chemistry between Hogan and Violet. Nathan and Brooklin add a little more spice and suspense to this book. I am looking forward to another book and hope it is about Colt. I received an ARC copy of this book for an honest review

Hogan is a single dad that is a really great single dad, but there is a past that is not so great and it's one reason that Violet is taking her time about being in a relationship with him. This truly is one of those just cannot put it down until the end books. Then when Nathan and Brooklin are added, it gives you another couple to cheer for and more secrets to be revealed. Of course, you can't have romance without someone trying to cause trouble between the main characters. There is love, laughter, mystery and family that blends so great in this must read. Or even can be called, a must read more than once. I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I received a free copy for an honest review so here is my opinion and I have to say that I loved Hogan and Violet. I loved how Hogan and Violet together. I would love to give a spoiler but I can't but you need to read for yourself about Hogan and Violet along with Hogan's son Cody. I recommend this book for anyone who likes Contemporary Romance and this one had a hint of suspense concerning Brooklin the new girl in town and Sheriff Nathan her love interest. I cannot wait to read Lori Foster's next book in this series.

Lori Foster has crafted two spicy, radiant love stories in one stellar book! Worth the Wait explores the relationship between Violet and Hogan as well as Nathan and Brooklin. This is the second book in The Guthrie Brothers series. I adore the first book, Don't Tempt Me (you should totally read that book as well), and I enjoy picking up a few months from where we left off. These are standalone books but I prefer to read them in order. Worth the Wait is a small town romance with scores of big personalities. I truly enjoyed getting to catch up with the characters from Don't Tempt Me and Lori Foster definitely ramped up the intrigue and romance with Worth the Wait. The only thing that could please me more would be Colt Guthrie getting his own story-- hint, hint, lol. I received a complimentary ARC in exchange for my honest review.

As the title reads, this most definitely was "Worth the Wait" I thoroughly enjoyed seeing the story unfold as much as Violet and Hogan seemed to enjoy teasing and tempting each other as they found their way from casual caring and mutual enjoyment of each other to a deeper, meaningful, all-encompassing passion and love. Lori Foster does such a good job of bringing her characters to life that I felt as if I was part of the community of friends and family that surround and support each other. The secondary characters and story lines support the main story while also making me cheer on those characters as well. This story was one I will long remember and I am glad I got the chance to read it. I was given an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

In Don’t Tempt Me we were introduced to Hogan Guthrie and Violet Shaw. In Lori Foster’s Worth the Wait, we get to see their story come to life as well as a secondary story with Sheriff Nathan who makes a connection with the new mysterious neighbor. Hogan is a single dad trying to get his life back on track and Violet is an independent diner owner who knows what she wants. The awareness between Hogan and Violet simmers below the surface and keeps readers wanting more. Without looking up, she asked, “What do you want, Hogan?” “How’d you know it was me?” She tipped her face and one vivid blue eye peeked up at him through that fall of incredible hair.”Honey,” she drawled, “I know the sound of your walk, the way that you knock, and I know your scent.” His brows lifted. “My scent?” Sitting back with a grumpy sigh, she asked again, “What’d you want?” Ignoring her mean mood, he said “Besides you?” He heard her growl and his grin widened. I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
