This book is different from many of Diana's previous books. It captivated me on a different level because of the ice skating theme. I enjoyed reading about the trials of an ice skater and the determination of a young child excited about learning a new skill from one of her heroes. The characters are very believable. I loved this book!!!

Around her home town she's called the Wyoming Legend. An injured Pairs Ice Skater who thinks she'll never skate again. He's a hard as nails rancher/business man and always gone on business trips. He needs someone to take care of his daughter. Will they win each others hearts or will their similar tragic pasts, and a chance to compete again come between them? Karina needs to get this job she applied for. Watching a child on a remote ranch. After breaking her ankle while practicing at a Pair's Figure Skater she needs the money. Thinking she'll never skate competitively again. She hasn't been on the ice for 6 months. Karina arrives for her interview to meet a the little girl and her father. Micah kind of scares her with his gruff abrasive demeanor. The daughter Janey is a delight. Karina is trying to keep her skating in the past but when Janey is an avid fan and wants to learn, it brings Karina to a point where she must face her fear.. She makes Karina mad by the way she treats Janey been teaching the girl. Micah and Karina are attracted to each other but he intimates her. Once she gets back on the ice the fear goes away and she starts thinking about competing again. With the help of an old friend she works to get into shape while she's teaching Janey. Karina fits into the household very well. Micah tries keeping her at a distance by being abrasive. They almost kiss and she doesn't know what these feelings are that she's been having and neither does he. An old friend talks her into getting in touch with her longtime partner to get back to competing again. When Micah takes his snarky comments too far, he has to apologize so Karina won't leave. He keeps comparing his finance with Karina and doesn't want the fiance in his life anymore. When rumors start circulating about Karina and her skating partner it makes Micah jealous. And sends him back to the finance The fiance makes things worse with her demanding ways and lies. They realize that they have a similar past. When the finance starts to belittle Karina and Janey, her secret of her real success as a skater is almost revealed. Micah can't figure Karina out because she acts innocent but he thinks its an act. An ultimatum is made to Karina and she leaves the ranch to concentrate on competition Meanwhile, Micah is miserable and so is Karina. He goes to the ice rink to talk to only to realize how good they really are and is told the history by a couple near by in the stands. He goes home and breaks things off with the fiance. He & Janey and the cook go to watch them compete for a chance at the Olympics. Micah backs off so she can concentrate on getting ready. They go to the Olympics and Micah and his daughter and cook leave right away for home. Karina is disappointed because they didn't stay. Karina and her partner make plans for their future. Micah thinks she's continuing with skating for a long time. He send a unique Christmas gift. Karina comes home from her college classes to find Micah waiting with a surprise. A wedding and honeymoon take place. A few weeks later and going for her masters degree they get exciting news. Micah has changed his ways and is home more. Their future is bright. Diana Palmer returns to the Wyoming Men series with a book of love, and overcoming the odds to make your dreams come true. These characters are people who can root for and believe in. She's favorite author who I'll always buy.
