Yellowstone Awakening (Yellowstone Romance Series Book 3) by Peggy L Henderson

A tender, heartfelt love story . . .

A man willing to risk everything, including his life and all hes worked for, to free the woman he loves from an impossible situation.

Kyle Russell has worked with prominent men, led scouting expeditions through the Yellowstone country, and irritated more than a few Indian braves, but he will never duplicate his fathers legendary accomplishments. Captured by a group of Crow warriors, his plans of escape are derailed when a lone white woman is brought into camp.

Kate Ellen Devereaux is on the run. Her guardian is dead, and she is lost in the Yellowstone wilderness. Found by an Indian war party, she is brought into their camp and thrown at the feet of a white captive. If he has plans of escape, she wont be left behind.

Kyles father may be a legend in the territory, but he never had to deal with an eastern lady full of secrets, a woman who disrupts Kyles plans to see the Yellowstone area turned into a national park. Convincing her that they are destined to be together may be a greater challenge than gaining support for the park movement. Kate cant afford to show interest in any man, regardless of her growing attraction to her backwoods rescuer. Will her ultimate reason for rejecting him spell doom for their growing love, and the national park idea, or can Kyle find a way to rescue both?

About the Author

I never thought I'd be a writer, much less publish a book. I always wanted to be a veterinarian. I guess life just had other plans for me. When my husband and I decided to start a family, vet school pretty much went out the window. I used to work with a vet who had three children while going through vet school. To this day, she is my hero.

Two years ago, I began writing a story that, for whatever reason, was stuck in my head for almost a year. I have been an avid romance reader for a long time, and the idea took hold to - why not? - write my own!
It has been a long and difficult journey from my first sentence to a completed, and hopefully polished, manuscript.

The story, titled Yellowstone Heart Song, is set in the Rocky Mountain region which today encompasses Yellowstone National Park. It takes place decades before the area was even known to white men, a time just after Lewis and Clark, before the mountain man era was in full swing.

The story has turned into, what I'm calling the Yellowstone Romance Series. Book 2, titled Yellowstone Redemption, was released soon after Book 1. The third, titled Yellowstone Awakening, is set for release on March 1st, 2012, and I am currently working on my newest title, Yellowstone Dawn. I have one more book planned in the series, with a tentative title of Yellowstone Deception. Also, a short novella is in the works, as a prequel to the entire series. The working title for that is The Sky People.

Loved this book! Love this series! Love this author! Some books in this series are a bit better than others, but I really enjoyed them all. I'd also highly recommend the other books by this author. I've read most, but not all. I've enjoyed all I've read very much. I will continue to buy this authors books.

Wonderful story of the early days in making Yellowstone a national park. And of course our favorite characters are here, the Osbourne and Russell families. I have so enjoyed this series! Can't wait to read the rest!

** spoiler alert ** Although there was no time travel in this story, it was an action packed adventure. I have a difficult time with stories that contain domestic violence. I was also not pleased that the judge who ruled in her favor didn't award her any damages for her ordeal. Her vile mother and Deveraux went unpunished for the harm they caused her. I really enjoyed the way that Kyle's family rallied around Kate immediately after finding out her secret. Kate's bit of espionage in honor of her lost love was very well written.

Good read, enjoy the series. Upset that Nook still hasn't fixed problem of the first page of every chapter being blank. Don't know if worth the frustration to get rest of series.

The first 2 books in this series I would give 5 stars, but this one only receives 3 stars because the heroine was weak and cried constantly. She cried when sad, cried when happy, cried at any of her thoughts and was just weak in general. I prefer a book when the heroine has a backbone! The heroine underwent spousal abuse, but in my opinion she was just too whiny. I am looking forward to the 4th book in the series because the heroine looks to be a strong woman in personality.

Yellowstone Romance Series by Peggy L. Henderson I love the way Peggy L. Henderson describes her characters and their interactions as well as the scenery in such vivid detail. I could hardly wait to read all the stories in the Yellowstone Romance Series. It took me two days but I set aside time and read them all. I recommend reading in order as prescribed below as the series does build on previous books: Prologue to Yellowstone Heart Song (located free at author's website) Yellowstone Heart Song #1 1/16/2012 Yellowstone Redemption #2 2/3/2012 Yellowstone Awakening #3 2/29/2012 Yellowstone Dawn #4 4/15/2012 Yellowstone Deception #5 7/17/2012 A Yellowstone Christmas (novella) #6 11/18/2012 A Yellowstone Promise (novella) #7 7/21/2014 A Yellowstone Season of Giving #8 11/19/2014 I highly recommend this author as one of the best writers of romantic western history and time travel. I am currently starting on the next two sets of her books the Teton Romance Trilogy and Second Chances Time Travel Romance series. I have read other recommendations that these stories are just as good and some even better than the ones above (will let you know my opinion at a later date).

This is book three of the series. I felt sad to learn that Daniel and Aimee had passed and that Chase and Sarah are... older. The book was a good reminder that our idea of progress is not always beneficial. Kyle grew up in the shadow of his father -- not because his father ever thought him less. Rather, it was how people talked around him about him. (A reminded, people, that we should speak positively to our children!) Kate Ellen/Katelyn was also repressed. It is, after all, 1871. The book talks about how they overcame this to be their own person. (Persons?) It was wonderful how right from the start they conquered obstacles together.

It was great reading how Yellowstone was preserved and not turned into some commercialized money making fiasco, because that's what it would have been, instead of the beautiful park it is today. I was sadden to see that by this book Daniel and Aimee were already deceased but their children and grandchildren are all mentioned and a few make appearances. It was amazing to see a grown up version of Chase and Sarah and seeing them interact with two of their four children. Kyle was a strong character, he definitely took after his father and grandfather. He worked hard to prove himself but I felt that wasn't necessary because he really didn't need to be just like his dad, he was his own man, with his own beliefs. He fought hard for preserving his home in Yellowstone and he fought extra hard for Katelyn! Katelyn...well she started off so weak, I just couldn't stand her. I felt horrible for her because of what she had to endure at her husband's hands, no female should ever have to fear a man like that. It took almost the entire book before she actually found her backbone and began to stand up for herself! I couldn't have been happier for her b/c she was genuinely a really sweet girl, but she literally cried throughout the whole book and that just frustrated me to no end. She was so different from Aimee and Sarah... That's why this time I gave four stars instead of five because I hate weak heroines, as a woman, I just can't fathom the idea of crying 24/7 and just being so weak all the time, I commend her for her bravery towards the end though, she definitely did begin to grow a pair... Reviewed by Sarah L. Book provided by the author for review Review originally posted at Romancing the Book Yellowstone Awakening is book 3 of the Yellowstone Romance Series by Peggy Henderson.  I enjoyed revisiting with our old friends the Osborne family.  I realize due to the timeline of when the story is based that Dan and Aimee (book 1) have since passed away but I still had to wipe a tear upon learning of their loss. This story involving Kate and Kyle was a sweet, gentle romance with no love scenes.  The story starts off with a bang with first Kyle and then Kate being captured by the Crow War Chief Laughing Badger.  The plot does slow down for a few chapters in the middle but soon the storyline picks up and it starts to get dicey for Kate and Kyle.  We are left wondering for most of the story if these two will ever get the happily ever after they richly deserve. I loved watching Kate come out of her shell and grow into a strong, determined woman.  Kyle was extremely gentle and patient with Kate and helped her to grow into the woman she became although I must say a scene later on in the story between him and Samuel was well deserved.  I won’t spoil the story for anyone but let’s just say in my opinion, Kyle got off way too easy. Overall, Yellowstone Awakening is another great installment in the Yellowstone Romance Series and I cannot wait to read about Josh and Danica (both of whom we meet here) in Yellowstone Dawn.

Ms Henderson continues the Yellowstone series, giving us Kyle and Kate's story. While there are no time travel elements in this book, it was great to read about another member of the Osborne family. I loved the interaction between Kyle and Kate. Kyle ignites a feisty side in the shy and quiet Kate that might be more than her family can handle. I nearly cried during one scene in particular. Thankfully, Ms Henderson delivered an ending that had me cheering. I'm anxious to read about the next member of the family.
