Fantastic book at many levels. Stories shared of what yoga has done for others and how the practice changes the author's life. Inspiration and insight galore. I love having the hard copy because there's so much to highlight or bookmark for future reference. Truly illuminates how we all have our struggles but have the power to transform from the. Yogis, a must read. Future yogis, if you need a push to get on the mat...this is the book to read.
Through beautiful imagery, Stephanie Spence collaborates with other spiritual gurus in Yoga Wisdom, to share the tools that yoga brings to our life journey. Yoga is much more than stretching and exercise, it is the way to peace, love, and a life filled with purpose. I highly recommend this book to anyone who is curious about the life-changing power of yoga. Our yoga mat is an island of peace to strip away layers of fear-based ego. It is there that we can recognize that a loving intelligence suffuses the order of all things. I enjoyed reading a page each morning as a part of my self-study practice, setting each truth as my day’s affirmation. In my daily life, when stress arises, I can come back to this framework, paying attention to my posture, deepen my breathing to awaken compassion for myself and others, notice my distracting thoughts and emotions, choose gratitude and love, and use that strength to create from my innate talents.
This is a gorgeous book filled with wisdom and guidance and most importantly, support. No matter what you're going through in life, you'll find at least one yogi who's been there, done that, and can speak to your challenge. Most importantly, you get the sense that you don't have to be alone--go to a yoga studio and find your tribe. Stephanie's story, that weaves throughout, is so inspiring. I suggest getting the hardcover--it's really a great coffee table book!
Wonderfully written and full of inspiring testimonials, advice, and sought after wisdom. Stephanie Spence (aka the Yoga Road Trip Girl) writes a wonderful testament to the power of yoga that is equal parts memoir, self help, and tributes from yoga teachers around the globe. This deeply personal and moving book is filled with beautiful pictures of yoga warriors exuding confidence, wisdom, humility, and hope. Stephanie Spence starts the book when her life hit rock bottom, and as she tells her story across the chapters she includes wonderful passages from yogis around the globe whose personal yoga stories tie into where Stephanie was on her path to fulfillment. There's lots of ups and downs, but through it all, yoga was her saving grace. I really enjoyed reading what yoga meant to Stephanie and to so many different people, the testimonials from other instructors were really uplifting, eye-opening, and personal. Like yoga, this book is perfect for everyone. Whether you are just getting into yoga, only do yoga once in a while at your local winery or are a full fledged yoga enthusiast, this book is a perfect read for you. It's infinitely quotable and each section contains so much to inspire you. Reading a page per day and then meditating on it would be an easy sell, or like me you can blaze through it in 24 hours. Either way, this book is a must and it's really opened my eyes to yoga in a whole new way! I can't wait to put what I read into practice and start implementing yoga into my every day, it's so more than just poses, it's a path to authenticity!
Yoga Wizdom: Warrior Tales Inspriring You on and off your mat by Stephanie Spence Love this book for many reasons: the beautiful pages of color photos, just simple things and at times the hard ones. Table of Contents has topics like Embracing Your wake up call, getting on the road, reading your life road map and staying real among others. Love that this is the journey of the author through rehab and beyond. This is not a book that shows you the physical movements at all, more the mental ones. There are many stories throughout the book from others telling you about their path and how yoga is an important part of their lives. Stories are from all over, wish there was a map with a pushpin showing them all. I'm sure it'd be covering the whole world. Ending chapter is a listing of acknowlegements and contributors and things about themselves. Love how you can read any of the stories included and just limit yourself to one thing you love about what you read and how you can incorporate that into your own life. It's hard to just find only one thing. What a TREASURE of a book! I received this review copy from the author and this is my honest opinion.
