Deloris Lago Young was born in New Orleans, Louisiana and reared in Plaquemine, Louisiana. After having graduated from Iberville High School, she obtained a B.A. in Elementary Education, a Masters +30 from Southern University. In addition, she did further study at both Louisiana State and Nicholls State Universities resulting in 30 hours of continuing education.
