Blue Horizon

A nice series to read

Wilbur Smith is the last of the great epic writers. His tales are mesmerizing and addictive. River God, Seventh Scroll, Birds of Prey... these novels are worth reading. I was caught off guard when I learned that Wilbur has a new release of 'Blue Horizon'. I am sure that it will live up to expectations. A 'good tree' such as Wilbur Smith cannot produce 'bad-fruit'.

The quality of his novels never faulters!

I started reading Wilbur Smith many years ago as a young women....his novels of Africa entranced me. Now his novels, especially those of the Egyptian era, keep me just as entranced. I can't put the book down once I start reading. He can't write fast enough to suit me.

Wilbur's The Reason I Can't Sleep at Night!

I first found a dog earred copy of 'The Angels Weep' Since that time I have tracked down every single book he has ever written. 'Just one more page',(this at 4 a.m. in the morning). I feel as if I am in the African Veld. I have never been disappointed in anything Wilbur Smith has ever written. Wonderful Author.

Loved it

Just what I have come to expect from a Wilbur Smith novel....wow... awesome... amazing... wonderful story with adventure love suspence it will even make you laugh out loud I loved it! You feel like if you know the characters. A must read!

Wilbur Smith at his best!

Blue Horizon is such an amazing read! The charachters are so rich and well developed that you feel as though you know them. You smile at their playful banter, you suffer along with them, you long for them to succeed, you celebrate their victories. This is my personal favorite of all Wilbur Smith books I've read. Wilbur Smith's descriptions of the vast scape of the African continent make you feel as if you are there within the story. I can't wait to read even more of the Courtney family exploits.

Cinematic, absorbing, mind blowing.

Smith writes cinematic secenes that just grab and draw the reader into the action.

First Time Reading One Of Wilbur's Books

I'm only on page 300 but i love it already! I work at an airport and found the book that someone put down from a flight. I will certainly get more of his books.

A Courtney clan follower...............

Even though this is an 800 page book, I finished it in no time at all! Smith makes the rigging on a ship,the capturing of natives, and the high sea battles, interesting for a woman to read. I can't wait to read what follows with the Courtneys.Little George seems to be a future, colorful character.

You must be kidding!!

It was with great hope that I looked forward to listening to a 12 cassette edition of an adventure story while commuting to work. I was awestruck by some of the ludicrous settings. An example is what horse in his right mind is going to charge into a raging sea to rescue someone? Not any horse that I have ever been around. I struggled with tape 3 and was blessed with sleep within a few minutes.

Wonderful and daring

This book has taken my breath away. Even though i usually don't read fiction I dared to read this one. I am intrigued by the discribtiveness of the country and the inclution of all the cultures involved. I have rarly enjoyed a story as this one.

Wilbur Smith has done better

I rated this book 4 because 3 1/2 was not an option.I have read twenty-six of Smith's books and would rate all but five as 4 or 5. Warlock was a real failure. Blue Horizon suffers from too many battles, man versus beast and man versus man with blood, guts and more blood with all battles ending up with the obvious outcomes. I look forward to more adventures of the Courtney clan, hopefully their goals will be achieved with less killing and more ingenuity.

Epic, Romantic, Enchanting!!

A master storyteller weaves his web. I thoroughly enjoyed drifting into the world created within these covers....it's my first Wilbur Smith but it will not be my last! The art of the thriller is not dead!

READ IT READ IT READ IT....then READ IT AGAIN

Wilbur Smith is not capable of writing anything that is less than outstanding and Blue and every other book is proof of that! One of the numerous qualities to his books is that he takes time to describe a lot about the culture and history within his stories....and he does it with great accuracy. Although he takes a small amount of libery with some timelines or historical figures, check history books and you'll find hime to be very very accurate and respectful of every culture, religion, or person mentioned in his books.

Non-stop Adventure!

I've read all of Wilbur's books and have never EVER been disappointed - and this book is no-exception. His words flow into picturesque scenes that allow you to float in and experience it. Once you've read a Wilbur Smith book, you will have a new standard to judge all others by. Through details, history and culture he takes you on a journey full of surprises, laughter and thrills. This book is a MUST READ!
