I love this series. It shows women can be strong enough to rule the world and still stay feminine. The strong family ties are great. I especially liked the part where Elle get her revenge on those trying to take her company from her. I enjoy reading all of Ms Brooks' books and look forward to the next one.

This was a very fast, fun, timely contemporary romance. Yes, it has (appropriate and mutual) sex, but it doesn't detract from the actual story. What bothers me is the prologue kind of just sits there, and you've got to read almost the whole story before it clicks into place. Elle Simpson didn't get where she is the head of a global multi national corporation by looks. She learned how women do, by doing and learning. The fact she has "a head for business..." to misquote Melanie Griffiths in "Working Girl" has gotten her where she is. I love that she also has "....the bod for sex" ( the other half of that quote) but that she refuses to give into it. Example: her shoes; bunny slippers instead of "Satan's stilletoes". Comfort allows for presence and ability to flow. Then, she meets someone as reclusive as she is, and she let's down her defenses and falls for Drake. And as her former paramour returns to town with vengence on his mind, she sharpens her abilities and once again betters the sleazebag. I love Kathleen Brooks style and flair. This is a book challenging to some, and upsetting to others who can't see beyond the sensual to the cerebral. I, for one, will read anything I can find of this author in the future and encourage others to do the same

Starts off strong - reverse Cindarella, hard working and smart business woman Elle meets her would be prince, tech wizard Drake Charles, while in disguise at a charity masquerade ball. There's immediate attraction, discovery of true identities, corporate intrigue, and a host of likable family and other supporting characters, but about two thirds in the story takes an unrealistic turn with Secret Service agents acting more like foreign Secret Police under "executive orders" in response to potential threats. Not up to this author's usual standards.

Loved the Blue Grass series. This story started with a bang and then fizzled completely for me.

A 170 page free book and 1st in this series of a woman who steps up as executive of the family business with her brother and sisters, and the mysterious computer geek CEO she meets at a masguerade benefit ball. The story is rushed in spots with readers left to fill the gaps in the storyline; also, the dialog for love scenes is a Harlequin romance takeover. Power, angst, drama, family caring and sharing, and with explicit sex scenes from the story's start to finish. An entertaining read none the less.

This 186 page romance has intrigue, passion, excitement, deception, action, and challenge....and I doubt that covers it all. Really offers up a prospective on how the other half lives and struggles to find trust and love both inside and outside family walls. Very nicely done. ( FYI, for those who care...Language is very toned down and sex scenes are present but not offensive.). Thoroughly enjoyed this and am looking forward to the rest of the series! LGM

This is a very good read - one filled with a little of something for everyone. Business woman, CEO, of a large business decides to finally have a little fun. She seduces someone but in the middle of it has to run away because of a conference call previously scheduled. In her haste she leaves her phone. The man who was attracted to her and left behind discovers the phone by it is locked. I disagree with a previous reviewer in that I did find it creditable - and do believe the arrests could have happened in the way written. I have read mysteries for decades and 99% of the time figure out the "bad guys" but have to admit in this case I did not have it totally correct and that was a bonus for me. The story is about a family who has each other's back even when it appears one of them may have caused a great deal of trouble. I strongly suggest trying this book as I mentioned above it has a little of everything for everyone.

Best contemporary read I've had in a while. Interstitial characters & story line regarding every woman's attempt to rise in the corporate world with it's glass ceilings that every woman has to circumvent & destroy! Great read ,great characters & great storyline re a woman's rise to power against the glass ceiling erected by the good old boys. Loved it!

Disappointing. Seriously? Drake proposes to her while secret service is rounding up the bad guys in her small apt? He's on his knee while they are being cuffed? Can you say "Hokey"?

I loved this book. Thought it had lots of funny parts within yet it kept you wanting to know how she will get through the problems she was facing.
