Overview

Imagine a strong single woman with a thriving career as a physician. Sport calls all the shots, with no ties other than three cats and an immigrant mother who desperately wants her to get married. The male compatriot is an agent for the CIA. Sean has sworn to protect his country from foreign invasion, and he is serious about his job. Sean is Caucasian and Sport is African-Japanese. They are both fiercely American. The last thing on either of their minds is romance.
Sport witnesses the murder of a family friend, and escapes into Sean’s protective custody. When a plot by Russia to infiltrate our nation is uncovered, Sean finds out too late his direct boss is the enemy . . . Sport has the evidence to prove it. The dilemma is how to keep Sport safe and resolve the escalating danger to the country. When they realize the President is the next target, they join forces with a rag-tag team of patriots to stop the assassination.
The scene unfolds at a swift pace as Sean and Sport struggle with internal and external conflict. They bicker, yet love continues to grow in spite of their differences. With murder, romance, humor, and intense action at every turn they learn to depend on each other

It was a fun read with lots of twists and turns. The characters were fun (or detestable!), but certainly interesting. The scenic descriptions were easy to picture in my mind's eye. The plot had me going from the beginning. I think this would make a great movie! Can't wait until Heidi's next book comes out.

This was a wonderful well thought out book that had you guessing to the very end. I also loved the ending, most writers end their books when the plot is resolved but the author didnt do that. He gave the best ending of all. The best part this book was free, I would have paid for this novel.

I am about halfway through this book and while its a pretty good plot, I feel like the book is not as well written as I would like. The words get redundant sometimes ("adorable" comes to mind), they often seem trite, with a somewhat restricted vocabulary, and there are a few wrong details in the book. (For instance she prescribes antibiotics for a virus????) I feel like the writing style is a bit too simplistic. The plot itself has good thought to it, and would be an excellent book if the reading level were to go up a few notches. I do plan on finishing it....and can't complain too much since it was free....but not really as impressed as I thought I would be from the other reviews.

Awesome book. Could not put it down. Initially thought that 700+ pages intimidating but i read it in same amount of time as a 300 page book. Would make an EXCELLENT action movie with all the twists and turns and wondering who is good and who is bad. All around fantastically written. Can't believe it was free! Loved it!!!!

This was a great read! Like others I looked at the 733 pages and thought it might be too much, but I found the pages flew by. Very enjoyable! Frightening premise, but that's fiction for you! Getting the reader to realize what could happen, and hope that it never does! I look forward to reading the sequel!!

This story is pretty good. It has a unique, well developed plot. I thought it was wrapped up a little too neatly and easily in the end. I enjoyed the setting. Ive lived in the Sacramento area for years and its fun to read a book with a very familiar setting. Her description of the area was quite accurate. There were a few typos throughout the story but they didnt detract too much. Definitely a good book, especially if you can get it free like i did.

This 733 page book about an assassination attempt on the President of the US held my attention to the end. The story was credible, but sometimes the author seemed to be struggling to find the right tone. (The romance passages were a little awkward, the banter between the guys was sometimes crude, sometimes sounded more like women bickering, etc.) There are alot of characters and it was easy to get confused over who was good or bad. There is political intrigue, romance, humor, etc.; but overall it's a decent story.

Maybe, based on most of the other reviews, I was in the wrong mood when I read this, but I didn't find it at all engaging. I could not finish it, only got about 1/3 of the way through before putting it down. I think what ruined it for me were the lengthy passages of syrupy sweet romance that had no depth and little intrigue. There was too little mystery overall, and I gave up when the plot started taking an absurd turn. I also found very basic medical inaccuracies annoying from a character who is supposed to be a doctor. Not my cup of tea, but if you like plain romance, you might enjoy it. JRB

Very interesting plot and lots of action. The story and characters held my interest throughout. A 4 star adventure-romance, but needed some fine tuning from a good editor.
