For fans of Robert E. Howard, David Gemmell, and Raymond E. Feist, here is a new story of sword and sorcery.

Banished for fifteen years, the wandering knight Mazael Cravenlock returns home at last to the Grim Marches, only to find war and chaos. His brother plans a foolish and doomed rebellion. His sister hopes to wed a brutal and cruel knight. The whispers speak of living corpses that stalk the night, of demons that lurk in darkness, and a sinister snake-cult that waits in the shadows.

Yet Mazael's darkest enemy waits elsewhere.

Within his own tainted soul...

PRAISE FOR DEMONSOULED:

“…action-packed, fast-moving tale…a solid debut novel…”
-Fantasy Book Spot

“a gripping account of one man’s battle against both inner and external demons, and I would recommend it to anyone who desires an action-packed story riddled with twists . . . ”
-Sffworld.com

“Jonathan Moeller has written an epic fantasy in its classic form that all lovers of fantasy will embrace.”
-Love Romances

“Jonathan Moeller will definitely capture the attention of many with DEMONSOULED, a suspenseful fantasy novel that is not to be missed.”
-Romance Reviews Today

“Here’s a fantasy adventure with plenty of thrills and chills. After a gap of many years, a hardy warrior and his companions return to their homeland. One of them discovers that his sister has been kidnapped and that his brother is plotting an ill advised rebellion against a less than sterling local ruler. Throw in some malevolent magic including a small army of reanimated corpses, a secretive plot, lots of derring do, a sinister mystery, and a magical assault that threatens to turn our hero into an instrument of evil. Exciting, occasionally surprising, with readable prose and a diverse set of characters. What more could you ask?”

    superb fantasy

It has been fifteen years since Sir Mazael Cravenlock was thrown out of Castle Cravenlock so that his father¿s heir learns to rule unopposed. Now Mazael accompanied by his friend Sir Gerald Roland, the son of his liege lord, returns to his childhood home to find out if the rumors that people are disappearing are true and a wizard¿s power enables the dead to walk again under his control. --- When the two companions stop at an inn, they see his sister Rachel kidnapped by Lord Richard who is the liege lord of the Grim Marches. Mazael rescues her and returns her to the castle where his brother now the ruler of Cravenlock has a less than enthusiastic greeting for his long lost brother. He and his wife intend to go to war to regain the Grim Marches that once belonged to them. Mazael and his friend Lord Gerald allied with a good wizard who practices white magic sees for himself that the dead are indeed walking under their master¿s control. Mazael intends to put a stop to the evil doings that originate at the castle where a snake cult is worshiped and the dark arts practiced. --- The protagonist learns that he is Demonsouled, the blood of the Great demon who died three thousand years ago runs in his veins. Unlike most Demonsouls, he has the power to overcome the darkness that dwells within him and turn his back on his evil heritage if he can resist the lure of the dark powers which entice him with what they have to offer him. Jonathan Moeller has written a fantastic, spell binding and enthralling fantasy where the winner of the battle of good vs. evil depends on a dark one fighting for the light.--- Harriet Klausner

Worth the download because it's free. I enjoyed the story line once I was tnough the first two chapters. However, there were so many grammatical errors, it made me nuts. I purchased the second book in the series, and to my dismay, found that there were just as many errors, if not more, as in the first.

    Basic good v. Evil story

No creative twists, pedantic writing and stilted dialog. Not sure what bit of research has knights using "I say!" in every sentence. Still, it's worth free!

    This book surprised me.

This book, actually the series, surprised me. When I began reading, I didn't expect it to grab me like it did. I found myself beginning to care what happened to the characters. It won't be everyone's cup of tea, but it's right up my alley.

I enjoyed this but it took a little while to get into the story.

I enjoyed this but it took a little while to get into the story. I found the first couple of chapters a little predictable, but once the main character and the story got going it was well worth it. There were a mixture of characters which felt familiar with respect to other fantasy novels I have read, but in this case they meshed together well and meant for an enjoyable read.

    Must read!!

Let me start out by saying that this book well beyond what I expected from a free book feom B&N. As soon as I got my nook I loaded it with free books that just sat therw until my purchased reads where done. What a mistake that was because this is now my favorite fantasy book so far. I have already purchased book 2. Granted there are alot of misplaced and misspelled words but honestly the story over shadows that. Please if you're a fan of fantasy then read this.

    Very impressive fantasy story!

Zombies, knights, elves, & fair damsels...need I say more? This story has it all. I would compare it to a good Raymond Feist story with excellent duos & foil characters. I will be buying the sequel.

    Confusing!

Wa too many characters are introduced right at the beginning. They all have multiple, similar names and confusinng alliances. If you can get past that, maybe it would be a good book, I don't know.

    Great!

Surprisingly good for a free book. I am about to purchase the next in the series. However, the author would do well to find another editor. There were several mistakes, but they do not detract from the book as a work of art.

    Great Read

The characters and book were extremely captivating. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and plan to continue through the series. It did have a few grammatical/spelling errors, but nothing that wasn't easy to work through. I would indeed recommend this.

    better than i thought

I stated reading this because it was cheap and was pleasantly surprised. The characters were well defined as well as the story line. The writer draws you in and has you flipping the pages. By the second chapter there was action and you were pulling for the hero.I started reading the whole series and have not been disappointed. highly recommended.

    Great Middle Fantasy

This is perhaps not the deepest of novels, but it's really engaging and well done middle fantasy. I actually think there is a fair bit to it when you really step back to look at how the lead character changes over its length, quite visibly maturing into a new role as he decides his own fate. Bonus points for not compromising on the fate of a key character. Qualms about typos are overblown in other reviews. Recommended.
