The theme of longing in all its forms--for change, for redemption, for travel outside the bounds of daily life to realms where anything seems possible--unites this masterful story collection. In various settings, Egan's characters--models, housewives, schoolgirls--seek transformation of the body and spirit, and transcendence of the borders of desire. 192 pp.

Great stories, they flow well. They are on the edge of sbort sories, but when the "credits roll" you know they are over.
Who are these people . . . who am I? What are they missing and what have I found.
I enjoyed reading the stoies, all from a female first person point of view, they speak fluently to those who grew up in the 70's to more current generations. There was a thoughtfull realty in each one. I felt seperate from each charactor util I learned from them and then took away something. Very Enjoyable
