About the Author

Before the universe assigned him the Diabetes project, Russell spent a fairly geeky 20 years in training and healthcare. His move to full-time writing in November 2011 was facilitated by a layoff after 10 years as Education Director at a community hospital. He also gained firsthand experience with the previous recession in 2002, when he closed his Boulder, CO based computer training business. If he was crazy enough to list on a resume other stretches of his odd path, it would include office manager, bookkeeper, taxi driver, framer, plasterer, ski instructor, and bugler at Santa Fe Downs.
Russell is currently taking his own advice, pivoting away from his high stress corporate and management experience. With their youngest off to college next fall, Russell and wife Kathy are selling the house, and proceeding with their plan to purchase and move aboard an east coast based sailboat.
