"Donnelle McGee finds the intersection of elegy, violence, and eros in Shine. His novella etches into language the longing, bewilderment, affection, and grief of lovers, family members, and strangers. For its sustained terror and love, SHINE is an utterly singular debut."—Patrick Rosal
