This is an amazing book. I laughed, I wondered. I was amazed at some of the crazy things he talks about. This is one of my favorite books.

Jason Herkimer is the main charaecter of this book. He is a 7th grader he is no longer considered a boy but a young man. Doesn't like first day of 7th grade. He is afraid of the 9th graders. He does not like the fact that he has to take a shower in gym. Jason struggels with 7th grade and all that it brings new challenges dances having to deal with girls. He faces with pimples, puberty, school, girls, and dances. The setting of the book takes place 7th grade class and starting Junior High. Jason learns to deal with 9th graders trying to rule the school. Learning to figure out girls and why they think there better then boys at school. Jason discoverd his 1st pimple he discribed it as ugly red smooth and swollen, there was no way he was goging to school he tried to cover it with his moms makeup. He said it felt like it was growing in class he kept going to the bathroom to check on it. It was a very hard day at school with his pimple. I liked the story because it will tell me what I will face going into 7th grade. I will be going in to 7th grade next year and will face some of these challenges.

In the story Space Station 7th Grade a boy named Jason is in situations he hates except with Debbie Breen, a cute cheerleader. Jason's parents are divorced and his step-dad Ham loves his ice cream. 'Space Station 7th Grade' is a cool book. I'm in seventh grade and reading this book was like reading a real life story of a kid new to middle school. I really enjoyed the part of the book when Jason first had to take a shower after PE. Students having to run around in a huge shower room together naked as jay birds is many elementary kids 'worst nightmare'. My gym teacher has really good pointers, www.bganssle.com/tsshowers.html, for parents and kids who share this worry. Kids who feel awkward about their first showers at school, just be like Jason in the book and give it a try. Soon the discomfort will pass. Will Jason get the love of his life? Will he make new friends? We he make the baseball team? To find out read Space Station 7th Grade. I'd recommend this book to kids having difficulties in school and modern day life.

Please do not let your child read this book. While Jerry Spinelli is a well known children's author, he completely misses the mark in the this book. Whatever message he is trying to convey about the challenges of adolescence are lost in the excessive use of graphic and derogatory terms to describe body parts, racist stereotypes and profane language. This book is also a primer for bullying with bullying situations described almost gleefully . This can only lead to children so inclined to "try this at home" on their fellow students. I came across this book when my son was looking for a book report book and I was sickened and dismayed this is considered a children's book. I stopped reading it in disgust at page 80. Yes, do keep your eyes out for this book but only to make sure your child does not read it.

This book is not one of the best books I ever read. It was hard to see how the characters changed throughout the book. Also, there was some harsh language scattered about this novel. But, this book was Jerry Spinelli¿s first book, so I do understand why it wasn¿t the best book in the world. I would not recommend this book to other people because is hard to follow. It was originally written for adults, so it does have adult material in it. Also, Jason seemed to give seventh grade a bad ¿rap¿, when really I think seventh grade will be quite fun.

'Space Station Seventh Grade' is a really cool book. I'm finishing 8th grade (junior highs in our county are from grades 6 through 8) and this book is really great story about how junior high really is. I remember leaving elementary school and starting junior high for the 1st time and wish I had read 'Space Station Seventh Grade' before hand. Reading this book, kids realize junior high is a huge, huge change and it is 100 percent OK to be nervous and confused for the first week or so. New junior higher's need to be reassured that they will find all their classes, they'll remember their locker combinations and that they'll eventually get over the initial shock of having to take a shower after gym. The chapter in the beginning of the book on Jason's first day of gym was all to real to me! Like Jason, our school requires showers. Also just like Jason's school, our boy locker room just has one huge communal shower room. 'Space Station Seventh Grade' handles this topic very well. Like Jason and his classmates, I and most of the boys in my class were quite uncomfortable with the idea of showering in public at school. Most new sixth graders in my school are like Jason in the book, in that we were shocked when we found out we had to shower together in junior high! But as my Gym teacher Coach Mannering told our class on the first day, showering is a part of hygiene. And hygeine is part of physical education. And he says the school system policy is there is no better time to teach it than in real situations, such as at the end of school PE class. It is awkward to have to shower in front of everyone, but you do get use to it. You have to understand that almost all the boys feel the exact same as you, and you have nothing to worry about. After a few weeks, most students who did not like the idea of taking a shower after class usually convert to liking a shower and even demanding a shower after class. 'Space Station Seventh Grade' really teaches us about junior high and junior high helps teach us about life. I think elementary schools should have all kids read this book prior to entering junior high. Michael 8th grade Falls Church, Virginia

it's an okay book, but it's just more trashy which is okay, considering that this is from the viewpoint of a seventh grader, but there was no deeper meaning that i was hoping for.

i think this is a fantastic book about teenage life . i read this book when i was 9 years old. i recommend this book to 9 and up.jerry is a great author.he deserves a reward for every book ive read by him so far and thats alot. read this.

the book was great he told how it was to be a 7th grader and didnt hessitate to talk like one either. It was funny all over the book.I wish he would have made a sequal cause i love the book and didnt want it to end. (WARNING: Once you start reading you wont put it down)I started the book at 10:00 PM and finished at 12:30

Closer Look on Junior High Students Space Station Seventh Grade by Jerry Spinelli is a book that portrays the life of a junior high student named Jason Herkimer. I would give this book 5 stars because it made me laugh so hard. One part that comes to mind is when Jason and his friend were helping a deaf old lady carry her groceries home. When they got there, he had to use the bathroom. To show her that he had to go, he took ice cubes and went ¿plop, plop, plop¿ into the glass. I thought that was so funny. He also uses teenage talk. Spinelli wasn¿t afraid to let the swear words roll. I don¿t know why, but I enjoy reading books like that. It¿s more or less the way any teen talks anyway, so why not write like that. This is one of the main reasons that this book appeals. Spinelli also throws some romance in there. Jason is trying to get this really pretty girl named Debbie Breen to go out with him. One time they were at a dance and Jason was with his friends trying to get his nerve up to ask her to dance. That is par for the course for any kid in junior high school. This book would definitely be on my top 5 books that I have read because it is so funny and I can totally relate to it. I remember trying to get my nerve up to ask girls to dance. Those were the good old days.

Space Station Seventh Grade was one of the greatest books i have ever read. Mostly because i could totally relate to it. It includes friendships, romance, puberty(hehe), and all the other things that come to a seventh graders mind. All these great things are rounding around a space station(it doesn't give off the book) Even for people in 5-8 grades will be able to relate to it.
