Brain Jacques Use of Diction In Brain Jacques¿ Taggerung, Jacques use of diction is exquisite. He creates a different persona for each of his characters. These personas are easily identified through each characters speech. We the readers can easily recognize the different attributes that are expressed through the characters specific dialogue. Jacques through his diction creates specific molds of characters that are easily identifiable to his readers, thereby adding a layer of depth to his writing through his diction. Consequently, the most easily recognizable character because of his diction is the mole. The mole speaks with a lovable accent that is very heavy. ¿Hurr, easy furr ee t¿say, moi booty, but this choild bain¿t nuthin¿ but ee pore molebeast, not fitted furr cloimbin¿ oop sturrs wot goes `round an¿ `round!¿ This passage translates into; Yes, easy for you to say, my beauty, but I am nothing but a poor mole, not fitted for climbing up stairs that go around and around. Just reading this makes us feel a homey feeling that makes us want to love this type of character. In conclusion, Brain Jacques¿ use of diction adds another layer of depth to his writing. It enables him to make characters that people can love but also is another way for him to express how the character is feeling. The way Jacques uses diction makes his writing more fun for his readers to read.

Overview
Years ago, the vermin clan of Sawney Rath kidnapped one of Redwall's own-a baby otter, destined to become their "Taggerung," a warrior hero of ancient legend. But as young Tagg grows, he rebels against his destiny. The young otter journeys in search of his birthplace, a member of Sawney's clan always near, out to destroy the deserter. With the feisty mouse Nimbalo, Tagg fends off the avenging vermin, but can he find his way back to the Redwall family from whom he was separated so long ago?
