Patricia Lorenz has found the secret to a happy marriage, and in her case Paradise is "57 Steps Away." You'll have to read the last chapter to find out what, specifically, those 57 steps are, but I encourage you to read the book chapter by chapter for greatest enjoyment. Although Patricia tells us in the first chapter that she is writing the book for unmarried women in their 40s and beyond, her good-natured approach to life and her ability to laugh at herself make it much more than a "how to" kind of book. Patricia spent most of her life as a single mom trying to support her family. Husbands #1 and #2 just didn't work out. But along the way she discovered a career as a writer and speaker, and her independent spirit is not going to step aside for any man. You can learn from her mistakes, you can laugh with her along the way, and when you read her book, you'll feel like you've gained a new friend.

I have read many books on living single, dating (or not dating), as well as the man/woman dynamic; but this book puts it all into a realistic nutshell. Above all, the writings allow us to be human along with the author, to accept our flaws as well as other's, and then to make wiser decisions, dream wiser dreams, and really enjoy the days as they come. For someone to take on the midlife dilemma with joy is the perfect reading, perfect validation. Thank you so much for your courage and openness and honesty, and most of all, your crazy open heart. You did it; you brought us enlightenment and joy.
