One of the best reads I’ve had in a long time - Dennis McKay paints a picture of life in America back in the fifties through the eyes of Johnny O’Brien, a boy who seems to have it all, save one big secret that he takes forward into young adulthood and beyond. The author’s writing style is easy on the eyes and some of the scenes in the book are laugh-out-loud funny while others are so poignant that the contrast tugs at the heart. A well-written can’t put down book.
