About the Author

Arthur Samuel Peake (1865-1929) was an English biblical scholar. After graduating from St. John’s College, Oxford, Peake was the first to hold the Rylands Chair of Biblical Criticism and Exegesis at the University of Manchester, and served as a lecturer at many other institutions.  He is also the author of A Guide to Biblical Study (1897), The Problem of Suffering in the Old Testament (1904), and A Commentary on the Bible (1913).
