A Question of Will (The Aliomenti Saga - Book 1) by Alex Albrinck

They murdered his wife and son.
They burned down his house.
They beat him within an inch of his life.

And then they realized they had the wrong man.

They should have killed him when they had the chance.

Will Stark is a thirty-five-year-old self-made billionaire. He's happily married and father to a young son he adores. He's well-loved in his community for his philanthropic efforts. He lives in a beautiful home inside a private, secure community designed to provide safety for his family from those who would do them harm.

His idyllic world is shattered when, despite his best efforts, men storm his community, murder his family in their home, and burn his house down. In his efforts to rush to the aid of those he loves, Will is seized, beaten, and nearly killed.

And as it's happening, the men who've attacked him realize they've mistaken him for someone else.

Will's rescue from certain death brings him into the midst of a battle between two factions of a secret society, one in which members learn the secrets of developing superhuman abilities. And it's a battle in which a man named Will Stark has been the focal point. Will seizes the opportunity to learn these secrets, and battle those who destroyed his family. His own rapid development, however, means he may become a target for attack of his own accord.

As he builds his new life, however, Will is faced with a critical decision. Will he use his new abilities to seek out vengeance? Or will he risk everything he has to save those he holds most dear?

This book is a bit too "wordy" for me. I found myself scimming some chapters. Its a good book but very much on the strange and far fetched side. I havnt decided if I'm going to buy the next book or not!

The book is very confusing to read. It changes the reasons why people are doing what they do so many times you get lost.  The end helps somewhat but there must have been an easier way  to get to the ending. If this review is confusing so was the book..

I thought this was a great book! I just finished it. At first, a little confusing, but it all clicks down the road, but opens a question for me that I hope is answered in the next book in the series.Looking forward to reading them to see if my question is answered.

The paradigm of "present, past and future self" , is a bit confusing, but overall really good read.

I found this book a great read. The plot is intriguing, as is the premise of the Aliomenti. The characters all have complex motivations and backstories. The author has done a wonderful job bringing those things to life. The book is not without flaws, though. At times passages are needlessly wordy, the plot sometimes overly complex, and there is not enough complexity in the villains for my taste. Overall, however, it is a great read and one I would recommend.

I LOVED this book. It starts a little slow, but it builds and becomes addictive. The author has built a whole world not too different from ours, and I am fascinated. Great characters, great soft SF. Great job. I want to keep reading the rest of the series!

I really liked this book. Though I "saw" some of the twists in the storyline coming (***I say SOME because there were some I most definitely did not see***), the author made me enjoy getting there. Interesting take on current events and possible futures. I will buy the next one to see if it can keep up the momentum started here.

Great read! I got it because I like the subject matter and love reading series books. I was a bit disappointed that there were some unanswered questions at the end, but guess that's what makes a person keep reading. I bought the second book in the series and loved it. I would highly recommend this series to anyone that likes science fiction / fantasy.
