Everyone knows the first time you meet that special someone: Your eyes connect from across the room, and you smile and work up the courage to say hello. It's a simple feat for most people, but not for Trevor Friessen, who struggles to fit into this world and thinks he always will—that is, until he meets a girl who is as different from him as she is the same.

While many of the other young people of this generation have been featured in books, Trevor has mostly been in the background. He is autistic, which makes his daily routine different. He has a strict schedule which works well for him. His sister Katy wants to expand his life with friends and shaking up his routine which doesn’t come easily for him. Katy decides to go to the bank on the way to take Trevor to work, which upsets him with regards to his routine. There is a robbery at the bank and Trevor has to deal with many things that he isn’t used to. Coincidently there is a young woman in the bank who has autism as well, but Jasmine is at a totally different place on the spectrum. While they have much in common, they also have many differences. This is a wonderful book that gives the reader a glimpse into autism and hopefully gives them some insight. One of the best and most insightful of the series!

I love that we are getting a look into the present day lives of the Friessen children and the parents we first fell in love with a few years ago. Getting a glimpse of Brad and Emily’s, Katy and Steven’s, and Becky and Tom’s lives is like visiting with old friends. But the real treat, and the main basis of the book, is Trevor’s story. This specifically struck a very personal cord for me so I may not be as impartial as some readers. One of the points that I particularly appreciated was addressing the matter that persons with Autism or on the spectrum, although may not be able to interpret or understand abstract emotions the way others do, they are still capable of feeling those emotions. I truly appreciated this story for that reason, but I also found this to be a very engaging and enjoyable read. It is fast-paced and entertaining and will keep you involved from start to finish. I highly recommend this delightful addition to what has always been a wonderful series!
