About the Author

When the author was in high school, it was suggested by his English instructors that any career, other than writing, would be 'a total waste of time'. He went on to become a Certified Public Accountant and successful businessman, with a thriving accounting firm in the Chicagoland area. After a thirty year marriage and a lengthy divorce, it suggested that he take up writing again as a 'form of therapy'. He has written a countless number of short stories and poetry, and has finally completed his first novel, "Of Bread & Wine".

His next novel, "A Rose from the Executioner", will be completed in early 2019. Detective Philip Dorian of the 16th Chicago Precinct is called to investigate the serial killing and mutilation of retired, former pedophile priests in the Chicagoland area. It becomes later discovered that Monsignor Joseph Kilbane, chief of staff to the Cardinal, had previously approached his childhood friend, Anthony 'Little Tony' DiMatteo to lend him a "hit man' to commit the murders of these pedophile ex-priests for their insurance money. Although the plot sounds interesting, Little Tony isn't interested, and the Monsignor abandons the idea. During the reigns of prior Chicago bishops and cardinals over the last fifty years, many of these former pedophile priests were allegedly, forced to resign and sheltered away from criminal prosecution, with the caveat that they allow the Archdiocese of Chicago to be the beneficiary of their large life insurances policies. These policies were taken out on these former priests 'as a form of penance for their lives of being sexual predators'. With the innumerate sexual child abuse lawsuits that have been currently filed and settled by the Archdiocese, they are now on the brink of bankruptcy. A serial killer is now out there, and Monsignor Kilbane has no idea who is perpetrating these gruesome homicides, essentially framing him and the Archdiocese for these "Pedophile Priest Murders".

This book is about a Chicago Detective in search of a serial killer of retired pedophile priests in Chicago. From the opening scene to the very last sentence, this book will have you on pins and needles. The characters are well developed and the storyline pulls deeper and deeper with every chapter. The author writes this novel with vivid detail, and will only have you wishing for the movie version of this book. A great read!

“Nobody kills like this anymore”. This is just one of the many single-sentenced power lines that this author delivers at each chapter end! Each one lures the reader deeper into the story while leading the reader to the same question “what will happen next?!” I especially like the development of his characters. Little Tony is the typical mafioso only with a comical side (I envision Joe Pesci!), Phil Dorian - the detective with “a heart” and Olivia Laurent – a temptress turned opportunist. All carefully thought out and brought to life. Ed has an amazing flare for detail in his writing which makes the reader feel like they are in the story with him. I loved this book! I loved it’s twists and turns – and all perfectly brought together for an astonishing end! Ginette Piagentini
