Thought provoking and insightful! An excellent read for every working professional! I thoroughly enjoyed reading 'A Saint in the Boardroom'. The book is unique in that it delightfully weaves business philosophy into a fiction format. The book navigates across many daunting questions that bother the minds of today’s executives. The author Dr.Durgadoss, based on his extensive experiences gathered in management consulting and many entrepreneurial assignments across Asia and Middle East, has been able to skillfully raise the right questions and provide convincing answers. Many a times one faces a dilemma when a choice has to be made between two routes that both seem ‘right’. This book lists many such situations that we face in our professional environment and tells us how best such situations can be handled. The initial chapters talk about an Indian born CEO of a failed global bank who returns back to a village in India to take part in the funeral ceremony of his dead father. In the ten days that follow, incidents that happen in the village set the stage for the CEO to learn about values, sinless wealth generation, competence, ego management, success management, happiness management, failure handling and many more. The final chapters are gripping as they present a simple model for building character into corporate DNA. The book analyses many past ethical disasters of the business world and what went wrong in these cases. It offers motivation to professionals, self-improvement tips, management and business ethics fundamentals and many insightful case studies. Overall, the book cuts across cultural boundaries and can be hailed as the next generation bible for every business executive focused on winning without sinning! The powerful story telling effect and the simple yet insightful and well-articulated thoughts conveyed in the book call for a definite read!
