About the Author

New York Times and USA Today Bestseller/contemporary romance writer Samantha Chase released her debut novel, Jordan's Return, in November 2011. Although she waited until she was in her 40's to publish for the first time, writing has been a lifelong passion. Her motivation to take that step was her students: teaching creative writing to elementary age students all the way up through high school and encouraging those students to follow their writing dreams gave Samantha the confidence to take that step as well.
When she's not working on a new story, she spends her time reading contemporary romances, playing way too many games of Scrabble or Solitaire on Facebook and spending time with her husband of 25 years and their two sons in North Carolina.

Owen is a rare mixture of intelligence and shyness, and although he lacks self-confidence when it comes to social interactions – especially with beautiful women – he has a certain strength about him that will make women swoon. He’s absolutely adorable in a very masculine kind of way, and I couldn’t love him more. Brooke used to be the mean, popular girl in school, but she’s nothing like that now. Readers don’t get a first-hand glimpse of her past life – it’s mentioned -so there’s no hard work involved in liking her. She’s genuinely nice, sweet, and talented. She, too, sees in Owen what he continues to overlook, and the heat that simmered beneath their vulnerable surfaces added a lot of spice to their union, despite the low heat level of the book. Now, that’s some talented writing – but this is Chase, so I’m not surprised. I have loved the Shaughnessy’s since the first book, and my affection grows with each addition to the series. I love the way each story begins with a story about the hero/heroine and a memory with their deceased mother, who’s already passed at the start of the first book, but who has a big presence, nonetheless. Owen is a twin, and he’s a lot more tame than his brother, but they’re both very honorable. All of the Shaughnessy’s are. The way Brooke and Owen took care of each other, and they way they just naturally fit despite their differences had my heart fluttering, my eyes watering, and my attention hooked. Owen is science, where Brooke is art, but they supported and took a genuine interest in each other and their professions. They are both very forgiving, mild-mannered, and honest. I rooted for them the whole way. This is pure magic!

What a wonderful read! Samantha Chase has crafted a romance so full of the feels that you can’t help but sigh in satisfaction when you turn the last page! Owen has always been the shy, quiet, nerdy Shaughnessy brother. The Clark Kent to his rock star twin brother’s Superman. He’s a bit socially awkward and still carries around a lot of the same insecurities that plagued him during his childhood. He’s been so wrapped up in his work that he often doesn’t even notice that life is happening around him, and if it wasn’t for his family he probably would never get his head out of the stars. Brooke was once a mean girl beauty queen who was never given credit for her intelligence since that credit was always reserved for her brother who was a certified genius. After tragedy struck her family she was forced to take a hard look at her life and is trying to be a better person. She’s trying to find her passion in her painting and create a life for herself that is just that – for herself. She's still haunted by her past, but with the help of her Uncle Howard who is her biggest supporter, she is coming to terms with who she is and who she wants to be. Owen and Brooke share a connection from their first meeting – but neither believe that the other could truly be interested in what they had to offer or was willing to take a chance to find out, but when fate has these two spending time together it isn't long before these two realize that the heart wants what the heart wants. Owen also isn’t thrilled that thoughts of Brooke are distracting from his work, something that has never happened. She’s so distracting in fact that he wasn’t even aware the he was distracted...! I loved that these two pretty much said what was on their mind and they didn’t play games. There were a few bumps in their relationship that were mostly caused by their own insecurities – yep, looking at you Owen for that move near the end – but each and every one of these bumps made them both stronger as individuals and as a couple. And what would a Shaughnessy Brothers novel be without getting to spend some time with the entire family? I loved catching up with everyone and, even though they got me a bit angry at how the treated Owen, I loved watching him stand up to his over-protective family and redefining his relationship with them. There are some interesting dynamics going on with the family so it will be interesting to see where the next installment takes us. Overall, this was a well-written book that moved a little bit slow to start as the groundwork for Owen and Brooke’s relationship was laid, but once the pace picked up it was hard to put down. There’s not a lot of heat in this book, but the emotion, passion, and heart more than make up for it. And although this is book 5 in a series, it can easily be read as a stand-alone, so nothing but missing out on some other great books would be missed by starting the series here. This is one that definitely belongs on any romance lover’s bookshelf!

Samantha Chase's "A Sky Full of Stars" is a sweet romance between two complete opposites who fall in love-at-first-sight. The Heroine quickly brings out the Hero's inner badass surprising his friends and family alike. Dr. Owen Shaughnessy's the last of his brothers to find his perfect mate. The only person to accept him for who is was his mother, who passed away when he was ten years-old. Owen's convinced no other woman will accept him as he is. Brooke Matthews's a converted "Mean Girl". She was the "popular cheerleader" who made fun of shy and awkward kids like Owen and her own brother. But she's changed she sees the special qualities those people bring to the table. When she meets Owen, she doesn't see a Weird Geek she sees a handsome, kind and intelligent man. A man who's too good for her; one she doesn't deserve. "A Sky Full of Stars" is a wonderfully poignant and sweet romance. The main characters are charming and engaging. Although Owen's continuous falling back on the labels of "weirdo", "strange", "odd", and "geek" grow old; it is understandable. Yet mildly irritating. Both Owen and Brooke do undergo a lot of emotional growth making them quite intriguing. Owen's siblings are a lot of fun especially Darcy and Quinn. In fact, Quinn's downright hilarious. There are tender moments and just plain tear-jerking scenes. They are more "pretty cry" scenes as opposed to an "ugly cry" ones. Samantha Chase creates an interesting storyline pairing a pop-culture and unaware astrophysicist with a former beauty queen and aspiring artist. "A Sky Full of Stars" is a lovely and sweet romance which is a pleasure to read. Wahoo the Shaughnessy's are back! A Sky Full of Stars is book 5 in the series. This could be a stand alone but I highly recommend you read the books in order. You'll get better appreciation of the story. Owen Shaughnessy is a brilliant young man. Because of his intelligence his struggles with interacting with others outside of his family. There is a special place in my heart of Owen. Brooke Matthews is the niece of Howard, Owen's mentor. She is an artist that loves to paint the night sky. Howard feels that she can assist Owen on an upcoming trip he is leading to study a meteor shower and to also meet her want to paint the night sky. This is a true story of opposites attract. They struggle in their relationship because of their insecurities but they also gain more confidence as individuals because of the others' support. This is a real heartwarmining story. What I really liked about this story is that we get to revisit and catch up with the other Shaughnessy's and their significant others. We also get examples of how the 'twin' connection (almost like telepathy) works between Riley and Owen. Being a twin myself I found that very enlightening as being a twin myself my twin and I have experienced some of those type situations too. That made me connect more with the story. I'm really looking forward to revisiting with the Shaughnessy's in the future. Love this family!

I just knew Owen would require a special story for a very special man. This book did not disappoint. Owen has always felt a lot different from his family. He has the brains, but has never been very good at the social things in life. He's always preferred his books and solar system to making small talk. Sure, he's dated some here and there, but always with women who were just like him. He's never met someone who's pushed him past his comfort zone. Until Brooke Matthews waltzes into his lecture hall. She is the niece of Owen's mentor, Howard Matthews. If it wasn't for his relationship with Howard, I don't think Owen would have given Brooke the time of day. He's set to take a group of students and colleagues to Red Rock for a lecture. Brooke is an artist who wants nothing more than to paint in Red Rock. Howard comes up with the idea of having Brooke be Owen's assistant so she can also earn some money while being with a group of people while she's painting. The only problem is Owen feels a strong connection to Brooke which scares him. He's a man of science, not a man who acts on his feelings. I loved that it took a free spirited person like Brooke to bring Owen to his knees. It was a great read and a great way to see how Owen dealt with things. I would highly recommend it.

Samantha Chase has a gift. A gift for creating families and developing a series of books about them. The Shaughnessys just may be the most special fictional family I have ever met! I have loved reading about all of them to this point. Aidan the control freak, Hugh the uptight one, Quinn the flirty one and Riley the sexy musician. I had been counting down the months, weeks, days, until I could read Owen, the super smart one's story, A SKY FULL OF STARS, and let me tell you, it was definitely worth the wait! Owen Shaughnessy, an exceptionally intelligent, very literal, astrophysicist, has been temporarily working as a faculty member at a University in Chicago, when Brooke, a beautiful, artsy, engaging, whimsical woman is introduced to him. The seed of the idea of Brooke assisting Owen on a student trip to Red Rocks, to view the eta aquarid meteor shower was mentioned to them by a mutual party. Owen would go and discuss the science of the stars in the sky with his students. Brooke would go to paint the night sky. What neither of them counted on was the strong attraction they had for each other, a pull that was hard to resist. Samantha Chase took me on an emotional, fun, desperately romantic ride. I wanted Owen and Brooke to see the promise each of them held, in themselves and in each other. I was impressed that Owen broke out of his comfort zone on occassion. I was glad to go back to North Carolina for a bit. I was completely torn up over family dynamics that had me bawling like a baby one minute and laughing my butt off the next. And of course, any time we saw a glimpse of Lillian Shaughnessy, I was grateful. So, I thank you, Samantha Chase, not only for creating The Shaughnessy Family(that I want to somehow become an honorary member of), but for wrting A SKY FULL OF STARS. Owen's story is incredibly meaningful, realistic, heartfelt and romantic! You are a true STAR!!! Congratulations!!

What a wonderful story of complete opposites! Each coming to one another with their own past memories & insecurites. Brooke and Owen's story was so poignant overcoming those insecurites and their family issues. It was wonderful to see how the other Shaughnessy brothers and spouses are doing! I love the continuity of these stories of this deeply entwined family! It is hard for me to pick a favorite of these books, but Owen and Brooke's story is right up in the top couple!!!! I hope you enjoy this book as much as I did! I can't wait to read Darcy's story. She is a firecracker and I know Samantha Chase will do her story justice as well! “I received a free, advance copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for my unbiased review.”

WOW !!! WOW !!! WOW !!!....Author Samantha Chase has outdone herself on this one. A Sky Full of Stars is the 5th Book in The Shaughnessy Brothers Series. This story is based around Owen Shaughnessy and can be read in the series or as a stand alone. Every book in this series is wonderful but A Sky Full of Stars is the best by far in my opinion. It was such an emotional and touching story with so much feeling and depth to it. Samantha knows how to set the stage in such a way that you feel like part of the story and family instantly. Owen Shaughnessy is the shy, brilliant & "nerdy" brother in the Shaughnessy family and he has always felt different from his outgoing, popular brothers. Owen is temporarily teaching at a Chicago college when his mentor introduces him to his beautiful, quirky,"artist" niece. He wants for his niece to assist Owen on " The Nevada Project" and in return she can paint the Meteor Shower. In the short time they were together and got to know each other feelings started to happen and emotions started to change. Thank You Samantha Chase for never disappointing. Thank You for getting better and better each and every time. I would definitely recommend this book to everyone.....it is a smooth read. I can't wait until the next one comes out.

This story was phenomenal!!! We've seen Owen in the previous Shaughnessy books, but the Owen we get in A Sky Full Of Stars will have you falling in love with him and staking a claim. We still get the quiet, reserved Owen, but we also see a side of Owen that is sexy and swoons. Brooke is beyond perfect for him. She brings him out of his shell, and is fierce when it comes to anyone teasing him or playing in to his insecurities. I was in tears throughout some of this book, and cracking up at other parts. I loved catching up with one of my favorite family's, and can't wait for Darcy's story!! This is definitely a must read!!!

Oh my goodness! What a beautiful story! Owen and Brooke...Owen is a college professor and renowned amongst his family for being a genius. When he meets Brooke, he is shocked that she is actually talking to him. Like I said, such a beautiful story that Samantha Chase has written and from the beginning it makes the reader want to cry it is so well done. I couldn't stop reading it.

A Sky Full of Stars is a delightful, highly entertaining, feel-good novel. This book made me smile and fall in love with Owen and Brooke. Although they were not teenagers, their love had an innocent feel to it. I’ve read several novels by Samantha Chase, and I’ve loved every one of them. Brainy Professor Owen Shaughnessy is falling in love with Brooke, a beautiful woman, who was once the type of girl who had tortured him in school. He couldn’t help but wonder, why a woman like Brooke was flirting with him? Was he just another project for her to try and fix? And what would happen to him when she was finished with him? His heart would break into a thousand pieces, that’s what. Brooke did tease socially awkward guys in high school, like Owen Shaughnessy. She was the mean popular girl back then, but not anymore. Regret was a terrible thing to live with, Brooke knew because she felt its painful sting every day of her life. This book is a beautifully crafted story with natural dialogue, raw emotion, and fully developed characters. I loved every page of this, superbly written, emotionally charged character-driven novel. Highly recommended. Thank you, Sourcebooks-Casablanca and NetGalley, for my advanced review copy.

OMG!! I don't normally cry when reading a book but this one got me! This is a beautiful story that will pull on your heartstrings! This story swept me away on a beautiful journey of love and heartbreak and then dropped me off on a cloud of happiness! Owen and Brooke's story is heartfelt, loving and will give you a smile or two along the way!! I LOVED it!!

Another exciting visit with the Shaughnessy's has Samantha Chase doing what she does best ... making us laugh, pulling on our emotions and etching another Shaughnessy brother onto our hearts! A down-to-earth family who are all super supportive of each other, but know how to tell it like it is when they need to. Owen Shaughnessy has alwasy been the over-the-top smart brother. He might be socially awkward and far from the life of he party, but he's real. He's smart, he's shy, he loves knowledge. Now he's about to undertake a meteor shower excursion that forces him way out of his comfort zone and having to interact with his students/colleagues in a different way than he's comfortable with. Brooke Matthews is a struggling artist trying to find her way in the world, but she's also the niece of Owen's fellow scientist and mentor, so when she's pitched an idea to go along on Owen's excursion as his assistant, she's excited for the chance! Neither of them expect the zap of attraction they both feel the instant their eyes meet though ... this could make for an interesting situation!

A SKY FULL OF STARS is the fifth installment in Samantha Chase’s contemporary, adult THE SHAUGHNESSY BROTHERS romance series focusing on the Shaughnessy siblings of North Carolina. This is astrophysicist Dr. Owen Shaughnessy, and artist Brooke Matthews’ story line. A SKY FULL OF STARS can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary. Owen is rock star Riley Shaughnessy’s twin brother. SOME BACKGROUND: Approximately twenty years earlier the Shaughnessy’s lost their mother to a drunk driver that left six siblings (including a one year old infant daughter) without a mother. Fast forward to present day where the now adult children continue to struggle with the loss. Owen’s connection to his mother is their love of the stars, and the memories that remind him of everything they lost Told from dual third person perspectives (Owen and Brooke) A SKY FULL OF STARS follows the building relationship between astrophysicist Dr. Owen Shaughnessy, and flamboyant artist Brooke Matthews. With the department’s upcoming trip to Red Rock, Nevada Owen’s mentor Dr. Howard Shields asks a favor on behalf of his twenty eight year old niece Brooke Matthews. Brooke is an artist and her specialty is the night sky. A meteor shower would be the perfect muse for our heroine’s talent but Owen’s nerd-like, painfully shy, and emotionally withdrawn personality is not a match for the out-going Brooke Matthews. What ensues is the building relationship between our leading couple, and the fall out when Owen’s issues of trust come to the forefront. Brooke Matthews is an outgoing, exuberant young woman whose past is shrouded secrets and pain. Raised on the pageant circuit, our heroine walked away from her life to focus on what she loved and what she lost. Owen is the socially awkward, quiet but brilliant genius who prefers to work alone without the distraction of human interaction but his relationship with Brooke Matthews brings out a distinctly different side to our leading hero-a side that is willing to step up and take a stand. The $ex scenes are mostly implied and fade to black. All of the Shaughnessy siblings and their significant others play secondary and supporting roles. With the arrival of the next generation there are some awkward moments for the family patriarch Ian Shaughnessy, and his lady love. The world building continues to follow the Shaughnessy sibling dynamics: Owen’s struggle to accept his position within the family; and sister Darcy’s need to get out from under the protective bubble of five older brothers. A SKY FULL OF STARS is a sweet, clean romantic story line that sees another Shaughnessy brother find his happily ever after. The premise is emotional and realistic-I truly felt for Owen’s predicament. The characters are passionate; the romance is intimate. A SKY FULL OF STARS is an encouraging and delightful look at family and love.

A fantastic story that touched every corner of my heart. It was so exciting to see Owen Shaughnessy shed his nerdy shell and become the man he was always meant to be. Owen has dated before but never has he known a woman who understands him the way the feisty free spirited Brooke Mathews does. He will never be able to thank his mentor and Brooke's uncle enough for introducing him. This is one of the best opposites attract stories I've read. Owen is serious, lacks social skills, and feels a little lost in world. Brooke is artistic, outgoing, and appears confident and strong. Together they are explosive. I highly recommend this book to everyone.

This is the perfect love story. I have fallen in love with each and every one of the Shaughnessey brothers, and Owen is certainly no exception! In fact, he is my very favorite!! I was halfway there before he even got his own book. Owen is just everything I knew he would be and even more that I had secretly hoped for. (wink, wink) I adore him!!! He is such a sweet, sensitive soul and a beautiful person. He is an introverted astrophysicist who is a little nerdy and has an innocence and vulnerability about him that it pulls at your heartstrings. Think Clark Kent. (smiles) Samantha Chase wrote such a wonderful story for him and Brooke! It is most definitely another on my re-read list!

Powerful. Emotional. And beyond moving. And I still don't think that clearly expresses the depth of this book. A Sky Full of Stars is an amazing opposites attract story about a brilliant astrophysicist - Owen Shaughnessy - and a former beauty queen. One of the greatest things about this story, is the way Ms. Chase shows that no matter what we are or how people think they see us, we all have our own insecurities and that we should not judge anyone based on how they look or what they do. The romance is breathtaking, the time spent with the Shaughnessy family is exactly what fans of the series want. All in all, this book hits a perfect score on every scale.

A Sky Full of Stars (The Shaughnessy Brothers Book 5) is the beautifully emotional story of Owen and Brooke. Owen is super smart with a brilliant career as an astrophysicist but he is socially awkward and shy. Owen is scheduled to lead a trip of students to view a meteor shower and although the scientific part of the trip will come easily to Owen the social interaction with the students will be difficult. Howard, Owen’s mentor, and friend recognizes that and introduces Owen to his niece Brooke hoping she will be of help to Owen in breaking the ice with his students. Brooke is Owen’s complete opposite – she is an outgoing, confident artist that can carry on a conversation with anyone. Although Brooke is beautiful and leads Owen down a path of self-doubt, the attraction between the two of them is almost at first sight. Owen and Brooke begin to spend time together doing things that each of them enjoys. They take the relationship slowly but when it moves to the next level – the setting could not be more perfect! So what happens when opposites attract – pure magic that leaves the reader breathless! I love how sweet and thoughtful Owen is – the way he thinks everything through and chooses his words carefully. My favorite lines from the book are Owen’s - “ You never have to worry about anything with me Brooke”…”I will never ask anything of you that you aren’t willing to give, and if anything about my being her with you makes you uncomfortable, I’ll leave. Your peace of mind, your happiness, are all that matters.” This story touched my heart and in true Samantha Chase fashion, it left me wanting more of the Shaughnessy Brothers!

Creativity is a trait that continues to draw me to author, Samantha Chase. Never has her understanding of the heart been more obvious than Owen Shaughnessy. I knew A Sky Full of Stars would be special and Ms. Chase did not disappoint. In Owen she dreamed up a unique hero that is as clueless as he is unforgettable. He's book smart but emotionally he's like a baby bird learning to spread his wings. He feels deeply, yet doesn't fully ascertain how to express what he feels. In Brooke, he finds his total opposite, but he also learns to not overthink life, LIVE IT. In no way should this couple work but they do. They bring out the best in each other as each learns how to be true themselves.

Exquisite Romance! A masterful emotional story full of pleasure, pain, heartbreak and love. Starting a new Samantha Chase story is always an emotional experience for me, her stories forever touching my heart and making me fall in love with her characters. And the Shaughnessy's clan seem to have jumped off the page and captured my heart and soul that I feel that I know them personally. Owen Shaughnessy's story is definitely my new favorites. filled with angst, love and laughter. Owen and Brooke's story was fantastic. I thoroughly enjoyed watching Brooke and Owen's growing connection and their chemistry. I liked learning their history and watching them come together. They had a playfulness and flirtatiousness to them. I enjoyed smart, shy, kind, Owen opening up and being so honest caring and sweet. While Brooke was so up beat, understanding and loving at all times with Owen. It was great watching them work through their struggles as they figured everything out. I thought they were made for one another. This was really such an excellent story. Reconnecting with the whole Shaughnessy's family is always a treat and catching up with all their news is icing on the cake. So go buy this book! If you like reading, laughing and heart wrenching good stories you will fall in love. Loved it! Highly Recommended! Received an ARC from the author through NetGalley and voluntarily wrote an honest review.

Favorite Quotes: I don’t even know how to describe it. Honestly, just the sight of her left me speechless… she walked in and… the entire room was brighter… Studies have shown that this is why you used to get wedgies… When you are out with a beautiful woman— to whom you are attracted— the last thing you should be thinking of is whether you’re going to get seven to eight hours of sleep! Superman and Clark Kent… I always wanted to be Superman… Riley always took the cape… It was who we were destined to be, I guess. Owen, you and I are not men who believe in whimsy or things we can’t prove. We’re practical and realistic. But I can tell you this— that day when I first laid eyes on your mother, I believed that dreams come true. I believed in love at first sight. And I believed in the power of wishing on a star and the possibility of fairy tales. I like how you engage in the geek talk. My Review: I savored this charming story from beginning to end. Owen and Brooke were an endearing, adorable, and delectably sweet couple. I relished the gentle and considerate nature in how they treated each other, even when they weren’t together. Their relationship developed rapidly with an instant attraction and their blossoming relationship was fun and enjoyable to witness. The storyline was highly eventful and full of feels with occasional bits of steam. Owen was a brilliant astrophysicist who was reserved, overly focused on his scientific field, and generally uncomfortable in social settings. Brooke was a former beauty queen/cheerleader/mean girl with a scary smart yet nerdy brother whom she had tormented most of her life, until he was no longer around. Brooke and Owen had both reached a crossroads in their lives, both grieving past and present losses and dealing with unusual family dynamics and I adored how they supported, respected, and comforted each other. The writing was engaging, entertaining and emotive, and was deftly laced together with thoughtful insightfulness that squeezed my heart and may have stung my eyes a few times as well. A Sky Full Of Stars is not only my favorite of the series but is also my favorite Samantha Chase book to date. Owen is definitely the cream of the crop as he is not only the best and the brightest but also the sweetest of the entire Shaughnessy clan.

Once again I have a new book boyfriend!! Samantha Chase has outdone herself with how opposites finally find their HEA!! Owen is a genius astrophysicist, the sky is his life. Brooke is known as the "mean girl" artist. As their worlds collide, they both take off layers of emotional baggage to find their HEA. This book will leave you smiling at the end, but will shed a few tears through the way. I love the Shaughnessy family. Such closeness, even when they have their differences. Don't we all wish that we could be part of this family. I now want a Chicago hotdog, lol!! I highly recommend this book along with the rest of Shaughnessy family stories.

First off CONGRATULATIONS to the spectacular Samantha Chase on another totally fabulous book in the Shaughnessy “Brothers” series. Yes, Ms. Chase I have a question about this, for which I will ask at the end of the review. This is the story about the “Brainiac” in the Shaughnessy family, Owen. I absolutely LOVED Owen. He is the sibling that I relate to most. No, absolutely not in the brain category, but, in the backwards, painfully shy description. I was ecstatic when Ms. Chase paired him up with Brooke Matthews. She is the “free spirited” outgoing, artistic person that I felt Owen needed to bring him out of his shell. I tremendously enjoyed watching Brooke and Owen learn to understand the other and first become friends and then lovers, and finally fall “in love”. I LOVED how Owen was blown away the first time….. Stop, I am sorry I do not give spoilers in my reviews. I think the reason I am so absolutely fascinated about this series, is the sense of family, and how any one of the members of this family will drop everything if one of their siblings, or their father need something. You can see the love that they share between each other even when one sibling is angry at another, when Riley…... Woops, I said no spoilers. OK, Ms. Chase, here is my question: Why did you name the series, “The Shaughnessy “Brothers” Series, when I know for a fact, from a VERY reliable source, that the last book is this series is about the Shaughnessy “Sister” Darcy?
