Overview

The “unparalleled romantic adventure”* of Nalini Singh’s New York Times bestselling series continues as a new dawn begins for the Psy-Changeling world…

A staggering transformation has put the Psy, humans, and changelings at a crossroads. The Trinity Accord promises a new era of cooperation between disparate races and groups. It is a beacon of hope held together by many hands: old enemies, new allies, wary loners.

But a century of distrust and suspicion can’t be so easily forgotten, and it threatens to shatter Trinity from within at any moment. As rival members vie for dominance, chaos and evil gather in the shadows and a kidnapped woman’s cry for help washes up in San Francisco, while the Consortium turns its murderous gaze toward a child who is the embodiment of change, of love, of piercing hope: a child who is both Psy…and changeling.

To find the lost and protect the vulnerable—and to save Trinity—no one can stand alone. This is a time of loyalty across divisions, of bonds woven into the heart and the soul, of heroes known and unknown standing back to back and holding the line. But is an allegiance of honor even possible with traitors lurking in their midst?

I have been a fan of the Psy/Changeling novels from the beginning. Ms. Singh creates a world that is do imaginative, yet feels so real that you just get lost in it. This story was an amalgamation of the other books to date and you would think that having do many characters in the book would have been confusing and hard to follow. Somehow, she found a way to catch us up on the characters while continuing the storyline flawlessly. The characters are deep and complex and they almost become a part of you. This writing was absolutely superb. I don't often give reviews but I could not resist. Thank you Nalini Singh. I look forward to the next installment.

The mark of a really excellent author is keeping her readers engaged with stories which always continue to delight and enchant with each addition to a series. Nalini Singh proves once again her talent and skill in writing just such a book as Allegiance of Honor which is truly an epic achievement. It’s difficult not to use superlatives such as amazing, exciting, heartwarming, and awesome without sounding like a flattering fangirl, but this book is truly a wonderful accomplishment that should immensely please fans of the Psy-Changeling series. Skillfully woven together into a perfect whole, Allegiance of Honor has an ensemble cast. It’s comprised of chapters featuring most of the major characters from the previous books and focused around navigating this brave new world since Silence has fallen and the nascent group Trinity Accord composed of Psy, Changelings, and Humans who are struggling to hold the world together and shape a new future for the races. I would have to say an overarching theme of this book is family and reminds me of the phrase, “and a little child shall lead them” because much of this book centers on children, especially those of the Changelings who would do anything, even to the extent of sacrificing themselves, to protect their young. And because not everyone is happy with the new world order, there are dark forces working to extinguish the fragile new alliance between the races. The Consortium seeks to destroy and control by hitting at the heart of the alliance: those who are most precious and vulnerable. This book of many parts is interwoven together so seamlessly that it makes one large story with many facets. It is a story that is a true treasure trove for readers of this series. I feel Nalini Singh must have had a lot of fun writing this book because it brings so many of her wonderful characters into one big party. The Trinity Accord is a huge learning curve for races who have traditionally drawn strict lines between themselves, some of whom were enemies, and now have become allies, especially Lucas and Hawke. These Alphas may have to go against their very natures in order for their packs to survive and thrive in the rapidly changing world which is no small thing. Humans, who have struggled for a long time to have their voices heard and not be overwhelmed by the powerful Psy and Changelings, are fighting for their place as well. The Psy are still reeling from the huge changes to the Net and the continued problems with the parts that are failing. The Arrows most especially have had a vast paradigm shift to deal with while Aden continues to lead the way to a previously unimagined way of life for his extended soldier family. Some important storylines come to fruition which adds even more pleasure particularly for readers interested in the pupcubs. As the synopsis states, the members of the Accord are trying to make sure they have their own power. When it’s discovered a member of Black Sea, who as a group are perhaps the ultimate Changeling loners, has been kidnapped, each faction takes tentative steps in their new and delicate working relationship to rescue her. The book has tremendous heart that really touched me in unexpected places so don’t be surprised if you shed a few tears. Allegiance of Honor is above all a celebration of life, and the bonds of families whether they are created by birth, blood, or association. The individual parts come together in a beautiful tapestry woven of the very best of the beings i

Allegiance of Honor is the fifteenth book in the outstanding Psy-Changeling series and serves as an ensemble book as well as marking the beginning of season two of the story arc. There was so much story packed in this book. We re-visit with meet many of our beloved characters and witness the dawn of a new world were the three races are on the cusp of forming a tentative alliance, after spending one hundred years with each tribe closing ranks against the others. This book felt like visiting family as we see communities merging and growing. One of the most moving scenes was the celebration event of the birth of Riley and Mercy’s pupcubs, wherein a myriad of friends from every pack… human, Psy, and changeling were invited as friends and family. This type of union was unthinkable in the first book, Slave to Sensation. I was brought to tears when, at this same event, Annie recognizes Kaleb as the boy with the cardinal eyes that used his TK to lift a train off her following a terrible wreck where she was badly injured when she they were both children from different worlds. This reunion was long in the making and it felt like they, Annie and Kaleb, had come full circle. It was also heartwarming to see the wary and nervous rat alpha, Teijan, and his people invited and welcomed as allies and friends to this momentous celebration. It was heart-warming to the non-predatory pack included and accepted as friends. Despite the tentative peace, the Architect and Consortium cast a dark shadow over the budding alliance. The unknown Architect is determined to destroy the delicate Trinity accord. I hope that the second finally deals with dispatching Ming Le Bon, Shoshanna Scott, and Tatiana Smyth so that the story can be done with the oppressive, former Psy power structure. Though 100 years of Silence is dead, all is not well with the NetMind. The healing process cannot take hold because there are still missing essential “organs” that were torn out at the implementation of Silence, the human factor, and the return of emotion is still not enough to make the PsyNet whole. The Net needs all of its missing parts restored…Psy, changeling, and human. But the three races…Psy, Changeling, and Human are barely learning how to work together after 100 years of hostile separation. I have a feeling that The Forgotten will play a more prominent part in the second arc, their powers are starting to evolve into something quite unique form their long-ago Psy ancestors. Overall, Allegiance of Honor continues the excellent storytelling, character development, and world building that makes this series the gold standard of fantasy romance. Ms. Singh’s vision for the series weaves a brilliant tapestry leading to a poignant second arc.

I’ve loved the Psy-Changeling series from the very first book and I do have my favorites. I like that I can pick up any of the books and become immersed all over again. Allegiance of Honor was cleverly done. Ms. Singh has taken threads from fourteen books and woven them together into a story that is sensational and enchanting. It’s heartwarming to read about these characters I have come to love and a little sad at times. I was on the edge of my seat and my emotions where all over the place. We get to revisit old favorites, go deeper into the BlackSea changelings, learn more about father Xavier (loved how this was done), and get a feel for the hops and dreams of all the different races (Psy, Changeling, Humans, The Forgotten.) We also get answers to many questions. Allegiance of Honor is the changing of the guard. While one story arc ends a new one is made to move us forward. It was all masterfully done, had my emotions in turmoil, and it’s a roller-coaster ride unlike anything previously seen in this series! Many interesting things happens in Allegiance of Honor. It’s phenomenal, sweet, and emotional. Fans will not want to miss out. Rated: 4 Stars

I absolutely LOVED this book. One of the things I love about Nalini Singh's writings is that the whole universe that she invents matures. It's not just a revolving door of romance set to a specific formula. The communities, the people, in her worlds mature and change. And, I love the changes in the Psy Changeling world.

I have enjoyed all the books in this series. I loved how intertwined all of the characters were in this book. I think everyone should read this and put the motion of a unified world into motion.

It will be a difficult read if you are unfamilar with the series. This book is about how all the prior events, which you would only know about if you had read the prior books, have formed bonds outside their norm. Sweet is the best description I have for the book.

This was a nice opportunity to catch up with all of the old characters. It reminded the reader of how everyone was connected in the series. It is not a stand alone read. It is a great set up for the next books in the series.

I'm back with a review of another Nalini Singh book. Surprising, is it? I really tried to read this critically. I even read other reviews before I started to read the book, and I found some interesting and actually harsh opinions, negativities. But it seems that it is hardly possible for me to not enjoy a Singh book and to not give it 5 stars. Some people found the ensemble casting boring, saying the same happened over and over again - just the couple changed, as we visited all the known heroes and their heroines. But as I turned the pages, I simply couldn't agree with this point. Yeah, everybody is in love, everybody is happy... but what did the critics expect? The cast is full of characters who have already found their happily ever after. Why would we read romance with happy endings if not for this? I think we didn't buy a pig in a poke, anyone could see from the blurb how this book would be. It may have started a little slow, but I think that there were so many happenings and stressful events that the book didn't turn into a sap party. So despite all the happiness, it still was interesting and I could not put it down. Various problems and questiions kept popping up, and I could almost feel the frustration the characters felt when they couldn't easily solve some of them. I always enjoy when a writer returns to some heroes, or even mentions them, giving the reader a glimpse into their lives. And while being ensemble, there still was a heavy emphasis on the very first couple in the series, Lucas and Sascha, and their adorable cub, Naya. They played roles in many of my favorite scenes, for example *SPOILER* Naya's first change, the meeting of the three Duncan generations, the party starting scene at the end, or even when Sascha 'showed her claws'. * SPOILER ENDS* And of course, the arrival of the pupcubs will be an all time favorite as well. One other thing I love about Nalini Singh is that she can keep in mind every big event that happened while already plotting what will happen next, she doesn't forget the details, the tiniest informations. I could say that I missed a little more Hawke and Sienna, or Kaleb and Sahara, or other couples I love, but in the grand scheme of things, as they happened in this 'season' of the series, they understandibly didn't get bigger roles. All in all, while I expected the book to be similar to being in a theatre at the end of a show, when all the actors come in one after the other to bow and wave, and the spectators applause - it was that, and so much more with all the new twists and turns. I didn't expect so many emotions, I knew I would be smiling and laughing sometimes, but I certainly didn't expect to even cry and be stressed. There were many very touchy scenes, so well written that I just kept finding my heart squeezing with the characters'. The book was another example of Singh's greatness, and I can hardly wait for 'season 2'. Lucky us, Wild Embrace comes out in August with four new novellas in this world!
