#1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER
ONE OF THE "BEST DIETS 2016" (NPR'S THE SALT) AND "10 MOST EXCITING HEALTHY BOOKS TO READ IN 2016," (WELL + GOOD)
Forget everything you've been taught about dieting. In the New York Times bestseller ALWAYS HUNGRY?, renowned endocrinologist Dr. David Ludwig explains why traditional diets don't work, and presents a radical new plan to help you lose weight without hunger, improve your health, and feel great.
For over two decades, Dr. Ludwig has been at the forefront of research into weight control. His groundbreaking studies show that overeating doesn't make you fat; the process of getting fat makes you overeat. That's because fat cells play a key role in determining how much weight you gain or lose. Low-fat diets work against you, by triggering fat cells to hoard more calories for themselves, leaving too few for the rest of the body. This "hungry fat" sets off a dangerous chain reaction that leaves you feeling ravenous as your metabolism slows down. Cutting calories only makes the situation worse-creating a battle between mind and metabolism that we're destined to lose. You gain more weight, even as you struggle to eat less food.
ALWAYS HUNGRY? turns dieting on its head with a three-phase program that ignores calories and targets fat cells directly. The recipes and meal plan include luscious high fat foods (like nuts and nut butters, full fat dairy, avocados, and dark chocolate), savory proteins, and natural carbohydrates. The result? Fat cells release their excess calories and you lose weight-and inches-without battling cravings and constant hunger. This is dieting without deprivation.
Forget calories. Forget cravings. Forget dieting. ALWAYS HUNGRY? reveals a liberating new way to tame hunger and lose weight . . . for good.

Dont buy the ebook. Embedded links take you to wrong places. Very hard to switch between recipes. And some recipes are just blank????? Annoying and hard to follow.
I can't say enough good things about the content of the book. It's a life changer! However, DON'T BUY THE E-BOOK! While there are supplemental materials on the website, I can't even print the lists of allowed foods, which are not available with the supplements. Very irritating. Yes, I know how to bookmark pages, but the ability to have it printed and on my kitchen counter or on the refrigerator just irritates me no end. As I've already bought it once, I am not willing to re-purchase it as a hardback. My mistake. All I can do is make others aware of the huge problem!.
For years, I have struggled with my weight. From the freshman 15, that mythical number which is actually so much more weight that we gain when we go away to college, to the weight that we gain during pregnancy, I feel like I have always been looking to lose weight. I was on every plan imaginable and didn’t lose a single pound in a struggle to lose about 28 pounds that my doctor suggested. Then, I found this book and I finally get it. I understand my problem a little bit better than ever before. In Always Hungry, you will learn that it is not the process of over eating that is making us fat, it is cutting back on how much you eat is the problem. Your body is holding on to the fat when it thinks you are starving yourself trying to lose weight. While I am only on the first phase of Always Hungry, I can honestly say I feel so much better. Sure it was a struggle for the first couple of days to cut out the processed foods, but you will feel better because of it. I’d also recommend another book. It’s called The Hungry Chick Dieting Solution that I actually found here on Barnes and Noble. It is a huge help in keeping track of my meals. The thing it says about getting enough water is also working wonders for my energy levels. The information in Hungry Chick really does work if you use it. Do yourself a huge favor and buy it or even borrow it from your local library, but try it. I am already down six pounds in the last week using these two.
Helped me lose weight after failing to on every other diet I could find. The suggested recipes are pretty bland and unimaginative though, so it takes so creativity.
I bought the book because I heard the author speak on Science Friday on NPR. My wife and I decided that we'd like to read the book. After starting reading, we decided to try the diet the book proposes. We're very early in the process but so far the testimonials in the book seem very consistent with our own experiences to date. The book is not just to read, its a guide to making a significant change of life.
This is a fantastic book, full of knowledge and scientific information that could change your whole way of thinking about your body and its relationship with food. I agree with the other reviewers - DO NOT BUY THE E-BOOK. While it's true that you cannot print your resources via Nook or desktop (which is no longer available - boo to B&N), there is a website for the book which allows you to save as PDF and print. Here it is: http://drdavidludwig.com/
This book is exactly what I was looking for. It picks up where "Good Calories, Bad Calories" and "Why we get fat and what do to about it" left off. It offers a very clearly explained plan and is very well written.
