Let me start off by saying I have never read any Sherlock Holmes book. I love to read and I have always intended to read one of the Sherlock stories but I have yet to do it. I loved the movie and I am obsessed with the show, so I do have some knowledge on it. When I first received the book I had no idea that it wasn’t stories written by the original author. I always skip intros and all that stuff and go straight to the stories. When I was a bit into the 3rd story I was a little surprise that even though its the same characters and setting each story had a different way of being told. I even mentioned it to my husband that I was really enjoying the book because each story the author has a different style. Not until the fourth one did I finally go back and realized that this was a compilation of different authors writing their own Sherlock Holmes stories in a situation were he was never in. Now I know that the original stories were not paranormal. Even then I still really enjoyed each story. They are very well written and they are short enough that you can read in a leisure day but long enough to tell a whole story and not feel like it was compacted. They are set in the time period of the original story and follow the characters from what I understand, as a side note I can picture the characters from the show in these stories. Over all a very good read. Entertaining. And most importantly it has given me the push to read the originals works. I received this book at a discounted rate / free for my completely honest and unbiased opinion.
