An Informal Approach to Poetry
"An Informal Approach to Poetry" is a reader-friendly introduction to the elements that comprise poetry, to the comprehension that results from a knowledge of those elements, and to the final apprehension of the wonder of poetry. It is not meant to be a text in the traditional sense, but a collaboration between the author and the reader, based on their mutual interest in poetry. The intent is to appeal to the novice, looking to establish an understanding of how poetry works, as well as the already ardent poetry-reader and/or poetry-writer who wishes to expand his or her horizons. While the chapters are somewhat incremental in depth, their headings provide an opportunity for the reader to pick-and-choose, or "jump around" as he or she sees fit. "An Informal Approach to Poetry" is not meant to be didactic; its goal, hopefully, is joy, and for those fortunate enough, bliss. Thank you for joining me.
