This series is gonna be PHENOMENAL!!! This book has it all; fire, mythology, an alpha male, action, mystery, magic, emotion. It reinforced, yet again, why Felicity is one of my favorite authors, and I know that any book of hers will be nothing short of intriguing and intense. The stage is set for the rest of the series, and I'm beyond eager to see how it progresses with each brother, and to get more "pieces of the puzzle" to solve what is going to happen to the Underworld. This turns into sort of a "fated mates" story, and the love between Ares and Megan is perfect. I loved both of them, and I was so happy with the ending! I can't wait to get started on Valen's book next!!!!

Desire. Longing. Anguish. Action. Ares is book one in a brand new series the Guardians of Hades by Felicity Heaton. Oh my, what a tale Ms. Heaton has constructed. This was an exceptional start. We are treated to a story full of Greek Mythology that has been splendidly done. The author has added in some extraordinary new twists for the reader to explore. In this story we focus on Ares. I enjoyed how the author portrayed him. He fights a never ending battle; along with his brothers to protect humans. His duty and his desire war inside him. I love the battle inside; between duty and heart. It was beautiful done. Megan well she is not quite human. She knows she is different, but doesn’t know why. One decision will change her life and enlighten her. It was fascinating to learn about her, who she is, and more. Ares and Megan are good together. I like how they have this attraction, but don’t act on it until quite later in the book. The only thing that bothered me (probably only me) was the lack of showering/clean clothes for Megan. I think it was like two maybe three days. I have this thing about hygiene and well she had a bathroom with a shower their and didn't use it. We are also introduced to the brothers, each are unique in their own way. They are the protectors/Guardians of different gates in different places. The Guardians / brothers are all deliciously intriguing and I can’t wait to read each and everyone of their stories. It’s a surprise on who their family is and one you will enjoy learning about. Their is no shortage of surprises and reveals, but their is much more to come. The battle scenes are vivid and the action is non-stop on the go. A war is coming and only the immortal Guardians can save us and their world. If you enjoy Mythology, demons, battles between one’s duty and heart, and the lengths we go through for siblings and those we love, then you will adore this tale. I throughly loved the new twist on Greek Mythology, the Guardians, the plot, and romance. I’m enthusiastic to see where things go from here. Yummy is all I can say about this new series. The seven brothers with entirely different characters in looks, personality and powers fired up my imagination for their stories that will be coming in this new Guardian of Hades series. All the brothers are introduced and dispersed throughout the story with Ares being the main character. Like all siblings there is lots of tension and secrets between them. This book was powerful in setting up the series. A rollercoaster of emotions are intertwined with an intricate complex fast-paced plot. It had drama, death, fear, anger, hopefulness, loss, hopelessness and love. The reader will learn the purpose of the seven brothers and what drives them. Above all this is a beautiful love story. It won't drive you to tears but it will warm you heart. Megan's character evolves as you read and it finally becomes very clear towards the end of the book why she is part of this story. Her personality is an oxymoron by being fearful and fearless with this in mind the reader will appreciate what she does with her powers to protect those she loves. There were points in my reading when I got confused with all the brothers and the who, what, etc. I just wrote their names on a pad and made notes behind them. That did not take away from the story for me but it made me slow down my reading. The villain, Amaury was very cool. I know he was a villain but I actually liked him, well except that he wanted to kill them and steal their powers. He added additional tension to the story keeping the reader guessing how this plot was going end and he sets up the next book. This book is a 5 STAR read and I know the readers who love paranormal romance will love this story. Grab your copies at the following locations and leave a comment on how you liked the book.

Ares is the first book in a new series by Felicity Heaton. Ares is a Prince of the Underworld, his parents being Hades and Persephone. For reasons only completely known to Hades, Ares and his brothers have been banished from the Underworld. They live on Earth, each protecting a gate which leads to the Underworld. They each have a special gift, some obvious, some not. Ares has the gift of fire, Daimon has the gift of ice. These two are the only ones out of the brothers who are unable to touch other people, due to their body temperatures/gifts causing harm to others. They are constantly fighting daemons who are trying to enter the Underworld. It is in one such fight that Ares get injured, and his powers stolen. Megan is the one who is there when it happens, and she tries to protect him like he protected her. Their relationship is tumultuous as neither of them want to get hurt, but both feel like they have found the missing piece of their life. So, the goals are quite simple - gets Ares' powers back, help his brothers against the big bad that is coming, get an HEA with Megan. Simple... right?! This is a wonderful story, full of Greek mythology and action, both in and out of the sheets! All of the characters are believable and wonderfully written. With a smooth pace, there were no editing or grammatical errors to disrupt the reading flow. I am certainly looking forward to the rest of the brothers, and learning their gifts and secrets in more detail. Highly recommended. Merissa Archaeolibrarian - I Dig Good Books!

4.5 stars--ARES is the first installment in Felicity Heaton’s adult GUARDIANS OF HADES paranormal, romance series based in mythology, focusing on six brothers- the sons of Hades and Persephone -sent to earth to guard the gates to the Underworld. This is Prince of the Underworld and Lord of Fire Ares, and Megan’s story line. Told from several third person perspectives ARES focuses on the brothers’ battle to protect the Gates to the Underworld. With the recent influx of ‘daemons’ in searching for the elusive Gates Ares and his brothers have had to step up their nightly patrol but Ares finds himself out maneuvered in a battle where he will have his powers stolen by a daemon of unknown origin. Enter Megan, a human with some powers of her own, who witnesses the struggle of the man who will steal her heart. What ensues is the building relationship between Ares and Megan, and Ares battle between recovering his powers and the love of a woman that calls to his heart. The relationship between Ares and Megan is one of immediate attraction. Ares believes Megan is his mate, and with the loss of his powers he is helpless against the feelings and emotional fall out of their physical relationship. We are introduced to Ares brothers, each with their own power and abilities but brothers who know that once Ares recovers his powers Megan may be destroyed by the man that she loves. ARES is a sexy and decadent story of ‘forbidden’ love told through character introspection, reflection and plenty of internal dialogue. Felicity Heaton invites the reader into a passionate tale about one man’s search for what he lost, and the love of a woman who offers everything and more. The premise is enchanting: the characters are colorful and animated; the romance is emotional. There is plenty of exciting and lively action as the brothers battle for their lives.
