Walnut Cove and Danbury are situated on the Dan River in northern North Carolina. Walnut Cove's first settler arrived in 1750, and the area was officially incorporated in 1889. After incorporation, Walnut Cove grew into an industrious town that featured a gristmill, a blacksmith shop, and a branch of the R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company.
