An expert recognized for his uncovering the hidden, and often secret meaning of words, Kevin Hall now shares his wisdom with us all. In Aspire! he teaches readers to understand what words mean in their purest sense and unlock their importance as they develop a thoughtful new vocabulary.

As Stephen R. Covey so beautifully elucidates in his foreword, "this masterfully written book will help you understand that words have an inherent power, a force capable of lighting one's paths and horizons. Used correctly and positively, words are the first building blocks for success and inner peace. Used incorrectly and negatively, they are capable of undermining even the best of intentions. This is true in business, in personal relationships, and every other walk of life."

By focusing on eleven words-one per chapter--Aspire! shows how to use these words as building blocks for success and inner peace. The words, from the very familiar to the very unusual, will become touchstones in personal development and in business.

Interesting things started happening when I got my hands on a copy of Aspire... I shared a copy with my brother -- he came back for 3 more to give out to friends (one as a peace offering for a friend with whom he'd recently had a falling out). I shared it with another friend -- she wrote to thank me. I brought it to the office -- 2 colleagues said they wanted their own copy. There is a buzz building about this book! It crosses self-help, spiritual and business genres with ease. The word "power" is printed on the cover in the subtitle, but it's more than just ink on the page. For instance, what a unique idea for a book to not merely mention or reference the power other people have in our lives, but this book almost pauses, as if to say, "Go and tell that person what you're learning! Write their name. Honor them and tell them how they've been an example to you of this characteristic. Go ahead... tell them! I'll wait." Kevin Hall shares stories and unlocks these words in such a caring way that the real page turner begins after I put Aspire down -- with just me with my journal -- digging deeper with these new tools to find more power in my own life. Pretty cool. I wholeheartedly recommend Aspire.

Can Aspire help me with my addictions? The answer is YES! My name is Jason and I am a recovering addict/alcoholic. My dear friend, Steve Carlston, gifted Aspire to me about two years ago. The book sat in my car for two weeks until one night while working a graveyard shift I decided to grab it and read the first chapter. At the time I was only interested in book about addiction recovery, but I didn't want to let the gift from Steve go to waste. For the first time in my life, I was absolutely captivated reading a book. I was blindsided that the entire book aligned with everything I had learned in recovery. Principles that saved my life: such as humility, honoring my God-given gifts, relying on my Higher Power, serving others, and being willing to suffer for what I love. Furthermore, my recovery took on a deeper, more personal meaning to me. I started to set goals for my life and decided to face some of the fears that were holding me back. I made the decision to begin exercising again and have lost 65 pounds. I made the decision to go back to school and get my Masters in Professional Communications and I have one more year left. I decided to begin the process of writing my own book about the gifts I learned through my addiction. My relationships are more meaningful to me than ever before. Ultimately, I understand my purpose in life and that is to assist and inspire others who suffer from addiction find hope and meaning in their suffering. The principles Kevin taught me in Aspire have given me a new life. Today I am in my third year of sobriety and I have never been happier. By reading Aspire, my recovery was injected with new hope, clarity, and motivation. I recommend it to anyone who struggles with addiction, hopelessness, or limiting beliefs. We all have our struggles in life and this book gives them a sacred meaning and directions to overcome them. Just read the first chapter and you will see what I mean. Kevin, you are my brother and I thank you for sharing this gift with me. Changed my life!

As an avid reader who goes to bed with books, pens and highlighters (costly to the sheets when I fall asleep!), this book has been staying on top of the stack since I first ordered it in May. Organized wonderfully, each chapter breaks down a special word with a story, and then a lesson on how to apply it personally. They each culminate in a suggested action...quite cathartic, but I won't tell you so as not to spoil it. "Aspire" has inspired me to be more fully conscious of the power of words, and the power of "me". It is not a fluffy feel-good book, but a meaty one that is certain to stand the test of time. I have since re-read the book cover to cover, and though I love sharing books with others, this is one that I don't want out of my hands...too many notes in the margins; therefore I have bought a few as gifts, and am ready to order a couple more. Highly recommend!

When we bought the book back in January we started reading it immediately. Both my husband and I could not put down the book. We gobbled up each word like cotton candy. I love the flow and format of the book, especially how you have illustrated each word with inspiring stories. The stories kept it really interesting and made each of the words come alive and easy to remember through association. We also loved to learn the roots of the words which gave them each a deeper dimension. We are grateful for your mentor Arthur for imparting his wisdom and knowledge to us through you. The book really opened up our eyes to areas that we can improve and to respect and celebrate beauties in others. It has truly inspired us and has inspired many people with whom we have shared the words. Now, all 11 words and their definitions are on our bathroom mirror to remind and to guide us each and everyday. Thank you! We feel blessed.

The first chapter describes the word, Genshai, which basically means to not make one feel small. I grew up in a world marked by perfectionism. It seemed that I was never good enough, smart enough, talented enough or pretty enough. The more I tried to reach these things the more they alluded me. In my dysfunction, I learned how to subtly put others down as I felt put down myself. When I read about Genshai I found the power within myself to begin the process of not making anyone feel small--including myself. Thank you, Kevin Hall, for helping me to heal through the power of words. cj

I am Arthur Watkins' daughter and I think Kevin Hall does a great job in describing the personality and passion of my dad. From the time I was little I knew that my dad was a "master of words" and it's been fun to see someone else recognize that in him. At 93 he still keeps his dictionary right next to him to look up words that intrigue him. It's great to see my dad's vast knowledge shared in a way that can make a difference in people's lives. It's been rewarding for him to be able to share his love of words with Kevin and then watch the project unfold. As his family we've always known how amazing our dad is, so now it is fun to share him with the rest of the world!

In my life I have read quite a few books, and none have ever touched my heart and mind like this one. I have read it 3 or 4 times and have given several away. My husband took copies to work to share with co-workers. This book has the ability to inspire and guide a person in their life if they will just apply the information to what is going on with them. It is one of the most positive books ever! Thanks Kevin Hall for sharing what you have learned!

Kevin talks about people onto your path at any given time and though it may seem unexpected in that moment, it was truly meant to be. I can personally attest to truth of that statement, as I met Kevin at an event that I wasn't sure I would be able to attend until the last minute. He stated at the very beginning of his talk that he was there to speak to one person and that that person would be greatly impacted. When he began speaking, I felt he had been speaking about me. I went up and introduced myself at the conclusion of the event, and we have been friends ever since...that was earlier this year. In Aspire, Kevin uses great stories from his own life and from those he's encountered. Each chapter is devoted to a word--words that most people haven't heard before, or if they have, aren't familiar with the meaning. What's special about this is because they're words that I feel go far beyond anything you will find in the depths of understanding of an every day dictionary. I've found that many people I now know and whom are my friends thanks to Kevin and Aspire use the terminology in the book and have a much greater understanding and appreciation for what they mean. I can honestly say that I'm not the same person I was before I read this book. I've read it a few times over and still reference it from time-to-time to see what else I can gain from it. It's one of the best books I've ever read--one that changed my life.

This book has a truly inspiring message! It is amazing that, through knowing the power of a single word, your life can be changed! You think you know the definition of a word, but as you read this book, it gives you the origin and background of a few words and it helps you see the words and the world in a new way! My husband and I both love this book!

I love books that are different. There are only so many ways that you can write the old success principles over and over again. I wasn't sure what to expect with this book, but I couldn't put it down once I started. I am a big believer in the power of words, and what you say to yourself, and Kevin has uncovered some words that are not often used and many that I had never even heard of. The way he ties in the origin of the word, the meaning, the stories, and how it applies to your life are educational AND inspiring, and that is tough to do. I would highly recommend this book. Pick up two copies, one for yourself, and one to give a friend!

I absolutely LOVED this book! it caught me by surprise as it is so unassuming however it is perhaps the one book that has completely been a life changer. Aspire is a must read for anyone that is searching within themselves for their purpose and who is seeking a greater fulfillment in their life. The clues are within the book and the journey it takes you on is incredible. Everyone I care about has a copy-if you read it only once it will change your life- if you study it and live it, you will change hundreds if not thousands of lives.Enjoy the journey! Namaste

A dear friend gave this book to me and said it was life changing. I was at a point in my life where I needed a life changing book. For a person who normally felt on top of the world I was down in the dumps. After a year of dealing with some serious extended family issues we had a second child diagnosed with a life alterig disease. I felt overwhelmed at best. When I picked up Aspire I read it with an open mind. The lessons I learn were immeasurable. Every page was filled with the knowledge nesessary to make changes in my life. It INSPIRED me! I read it like a good novel and couldn't get enough. When I finished it felt like I had just been given a hand up. It was needed and I definatly took it. I am reading it for a second time and although I didn't think it was possible I love it even more.

I've read books but none is like Aspire. In this well researched, clearly informed and ageless book, Kevin Hall gave humankind the gift of a lifetime. Tears were dropping from my eyes as I read this great timeless work. I and all around me is blessed by the origin, power and secrets of words expose in Aspire, Kevin L. Hall truely peeled the onion. My lifestyle is Genshai and my greeting is Namaste. Aspire refires me to do more to enrich lives positively. Thank you Kevin Hall for Aspire = the gift of a lifetime. I endorse and recommend Aspire to all and sundry. Namasté.

One of the most inspiring books I have read in years. A great book about the meaning and importance of words and its impact on people. Amazing how the use of words can change your life. It definitely has changed mine! I recommend this book to everyone who wants to create a better life.

I would have given this book six or ten stars, however, I must stay with the rating that is available. Thanks Kevin for a very insightful and well presented work on the power of the 'word'. I was personally impacted with the learning of the word "Genshai" and the creativeness of the Book of Greats. I have shared the thoughts of the words "Passion" and "Inspire" with others and they too were touched by your presentation. I am now on my second read of the book, and it is so refreshing and motivational to reach out to others with a word of encouragement. Again, thanks for a great book of wisdom.

After 5 years of devastation in my life and a tornado destroying our dream land last Sunday, I thank Aspire for keeping me positive and giving me the ability to keep my head high. This book will travel with me from this day forward, so I can read it after a long day of cleaning up the 80 acres of woods.

As a leadership coach & facilitator of leadership development/training, I try to get my hands on books others have referenced to continue to build my knowledge and insights. Once I saw the subtitle, Discovering Your Purpose through the Power of Words, I knew it was something I needed to explore - and boy, am I glad I did! The words needed to express the impact Kevin Hall's words and spirit expressed through this read cannot fit within the confines of a book review. Nourishment comes in various ways, at various times as "opportunity met destiny," thus allowing us to begin to carve a path. Circumstances of life happen, and while we navigate our way through them, the true insight of the journey is sometimes not discovered until later. That's what Aspire did for me... gave me "sapere vedere." Oh the value of hindsight, foresight and insight! At times, I felt as the author had looked right inside my soul and placed the words of my heart on the pages in front of me. With the turn of each page, I grew to understand where I was, stepping in to full commitment of purposeful action. Pg. 197 "Ollin is your way out. ... once you've decided on the direction you want to go, you need to commit with all your heart, might, mind and strength.... Ollin isn't something you do part time. It isn't something you do every so often or when it's convenient. Ollin is something you practice every day of your life..." Please understand, my life has been shaken with a great earthquake and several aftershocks (in a great way!) I truly loved the inclusion of the stories of time with Arthur as I felt like I was in the room with them. What a true delight to have joined paths and to have shared that time together! Thank you Kevin Hall for sharing your journey, your words, your passion and your spirit. I know, some may feel, "it's just a book" but to me, it was inspiration and heavenly confirmation that I'm on a chosen path intended for me for which you've shown a light to take me a little bit further. With sincere gratitude~

I just finished reading the book "Aspire" by Kevin Hall....don't read this book if you are content with an mediocre life. You will desire to be a better person! The story in chapter two, The Pathfinder, of the scout troop in the mountains going the extra mile was my favorite. I like setting goals and going the extra mile by pushing myself. I thought it was awesome how Kevin and the 'extra mile boys' were rewarded by meeting Dr. Gerald Bell, the very man whose story Kevin had shared with his boys that morning. Chance?...I think not....blessings come from going the Extra mile. If they had not gone the extra mile, they would have missed that opportunity. Thank you Kevin for sharing this story along with the many other inspirational and uplifting stories throughout the book.

As I complete my first year of a Human Services Diploma at university the last thing I wanted to do at the end of the day was to pick up another book and start reading. When I started reading "Aspire" it was difficult to put it down as I was always eager to learn about the next word. I have a great amount of gratitude today for Kevin and the special friend that introduced me to "Aspire" I will be forever grateful to both of them. After reading "Aspire" I knew I was clearly on the right path in my life. People, actions, thoughts, happiness, thank you Kevin for your inspiration. Namaste,my friend.

I have read pretty much an entire book shelf of spiritual teachings and I think book inspired me the most. I was introduced to Kevin and his book through a video series I purchased from Eric Worre and fell in love with the one hour training Kevin did. At that point I couldn't wait for the book. I ended up reading the book in one sitting and loving every minute of it. In fact the words in his book have become a part of my everyday vocabulary and even quote him in many of my talks with mentoring groups. If there is one book I would tell you to read and put everything else down it would be this one.

I was amazed at the power of the words that were selected by Kevin Hall. The book is easy to read, inspirational, very insightful and provides incredible glimpses of lives he has touched or been touched by. I am deeply humbled to have him cross my path. I am also grateful & thankful that he opened his gift to share his knowledge and experiences so that we have a chance to grow in ways that we may not have thought possible. This book is worth every penny. Read and enjoy!

I heard about this book from another author, Dan McCormick, which in and of itself was a great reason to read it. I was able to download the audio for a trip and was actually itching in my plane seat because I wanted to SEE the words, I was so connected to what this author was saying. It ended up that I was able to grab the hardcover that week and read it through on the plane ride back. I have now turned to it time and again for inspiration and "soul food." Kevin Hall has a way of being 1)educational, 2) familiar, 3) affirming and 4) inspiring. This is a book that will be on my gift giving list this year. (And get the audio, too. I feel like I am in the "study" with them.)

Once in a great while a book comes along which is thought provoking to the extent of creating a desire to become a better person. "Aspire" accomplishes such inspiration. Kevin Hall's insightful and enlightening discussion of certain powerful words will impact the reader in a way few books ever will. Being an author myself (Dill Pickle Love: What Love Really Is & Is Not), I have a passion for the power of words and their meaning. Kevin, you have made these noble words take on new meaning and come alive. Namaste. Paul McCormick

I could not put this book down. Each chapter inspired me to think about the words I use and the impact they can have on people. I loved Kevin's stories and adventures while I was captivated with learning the origin of words. I'm reading it again and getting more out of it. The book really helped me be a better communicator in every area of life!
