Baiting the Maid of Honor by Tessa Bailey

He'll own her from the very first touch.

Julie Piper and Reed Lawson have nothing in common. She's a people-pleasing sorority girl hiding behind her perfect mask. He's a take-no-prisoners SWAT commander who isolates himself from the world. But when they're forced together at their friends' posh destination wedding, one thing is clear-Reed wants Julie more than he wants his next breath. Which is why he's not about to stand by when she's dared to seduce another man.

Julie wants neat, tidy sex, so she could get back to what she does best-making everybody else happy. She never expected to slip into a dark bedroom and have her mind blown by rough, demanding hands, and a sinfully filthy mouth-neither of which belong to the best man.

One night should have been all Reed needed to get the blond temptress out of his system, but when one taste is nowhere near enough, he'll be forced confront the effects of his hellish past. One that may push Julie away forever...just when he realizes he can't live without her.

This is Tessa Bailey at her best: hot, alpha hero, damaged and dominating; tough, sexy heroine with her own problems who knows how to press all the hero's buttons...and glimpses of the other characters in the series that make you want to on-click the other books and find out what's happening.  One of the things I love best in Tessa's books is the way she wraps up the story, with the hero -who doesn't have a romantic bone in his rocking body- wooing his lady in a way that melts your heart.

First off, sexy. But the story line is pretty good. The characters are strong and the dialog between them, and the sex, really move it along.

Julie Piper cannot believe the audacity of the handsome stranger and the way he approached her while she was trying to get some fresh air in the midst of wedding planning/executing/problem solving hell. Never before has she been propositioned in such a way…with dirty talk and the promise of no frills sex. And to find out he’s part of that very wedding party with her and her friends is the icing on the buttercream iced, three tiered cake. The bigger problem is that if she’s being honest with herself, she kind of liked his dirty talk and his gruff and alpha male manner. It was so unlike her and her southern ways and yet it was such a welcomed breath of sexy and fresh air. The more time they end up spending together, thanks to the wedding, the more she realizes she may be falling for this tatted up, über masculine SWAT commander. Could opposites like this really ever attract? Oh, man. You may know I’m a huge Tessa fan and in true Tessa fashion, she knocked my socks off with this story. No one does alpha male like she does and Reed is just one example of how well she writes these manly-man type heroes. Julie had no idea what hit her when she catches Reed’s eye and as it turns out he is just what she needs. He’s opposite her in every way. She loves pink and girly and cuddling after sex, he likes dark and manly and the word “cuddle” isn’t even in his vocab. I happen to adore characters like that and ate Reed up with a spoon. That man is alpha sex on a stick. But the softer side (well, as soft as Reed can be) he shows to Julie is simply amazing. He does the best he can to show her he wants her in his life. He shows her that he’s listened to her when she’s talked and the way he does that had me crying my eyes out. What a man! No spoilers from me, so you’ll just have to go grab a copy and enjoy Reed and Julie for yourself….and enjoy you will! Thank you, Tessa, for giving us Julie and Reed!

When this book started out I kept reading but wasn't sure if I love him or hated him because he had a BIG attitude plus a chip on his shoulder. As the story unfolded you saw him start to change even though he couldn't understand what was going on and trying to stop it because he felt he was not good enough. Once the two of them got their head out of the a** and realized they should stop fighting each other it was a good read. The reason it got 4 stars and not 5 was because I felt the end was rushed. Stuff the was in the epilog could have been another chapter thus allowing the epilog to finish their story but I felt it was still left open. Otherwise it was a really good story.

Reviewed for Read Your Writes Book Reviews by Kim Baiting the Maid of Honor marks the second time I’ve read a book by Tessa Bailey. Tessa is known as being “The Queen of Dirty Talkers”, so I was surprised to find the book tamer than what I expected. Don’t get me wrong, Reed is STILL intense. Julie Piper and Reed Lawson are two people who are polar opposites. Julie is from a rich and privileged family, with a wonderful childhood. Reed is from the wrong side of the tracks and had a childhood full of nightmares. His mother died when he was young and his father was verbally and physically abusive. These two have nothing in common, except for the love they have for their friends who are getting married. Julie is a people pleaser who has lost herself in being who people expect her to be. Reed just shuts himself off from everyone. Without question, there is an attraction between these two. While Julie prepares to seduce the more appropriate best man, someone switches the room key she has stolen with Reed’s. When the huntress becomes the hunted, she isn’t prepared for the feelings awakened by the rough and dominate Reed. Julie and Reed are two people who are so different from each other, yet they need each other. They need each to realize they aren’t the person they thought they were. They also need each other to heal themselves and break the chains they have been carrying around in order to truly live life. Baiting the Maid of Honor is the second full length novel in the the Wedding Dare Continuity series. While it might be read as a standalone, I strongly suggest you read the rest of the series to get a better understanding of Reed’s character and background. In particular, the story to read is Seducing the Bridesmaid by Katee Robert. If you would like to read the series in order, this is the order you should read it in: Dare to Resist by Laura Kaye Falling for the Groomsman by Diane Alberts Baiting the Maid of Honor by Tessa Bailey Seducing the Bridesmaid by Katee Robert Best Man with Benefits by Samanthe Beck Source: Publisher Rating: 4.5

Tessa Bailey and her dangerously sexy stories strikes again. Baiting The Maid Of Honor, hooks you right away, is filled with so much sexiness it explodes in the pages, and there is nothing to be bored with in this fast-paced novella! Living through what Julie has and having a family who expects so much of her, I'm not sure I would quite be able to keep my cool and I commend her for it, but also scold. I say that because no one should ever try to be anyone other than who they want to be and it made me so happy to see Reed come in and break down all her walls. Firstly, the name Reed is just so...UNF. Yes, there is no other word because I adore that sexy name. With Reed, I loved watching his controlling, keep-everyone-away attitude get broken down by Julie. It's funny because you know these big bad boys are capable of affection but you wonder why they never show it and I just love watching big bad boys get taken down by love. With this story though I kept finding myself looking for something a little more. I'm not sure if it was background stories, or a little less sexiness, or what it was. Overall though, I absolutely adore everything Tessa writes and this one is no exception! Sexy and satisfying!

Wow, just Wow. This story had everything: great characters, a interesting storyline, drama, sweet girl and dark guy, and a lot of great sex scenes. It was a quick read but a great HEA. You really were rooted for this pair to get together.

Embarrassing confession time: I'd never read a Tessa Bailey book until now. I feel like such a failure. After reading Baiting the Maid of Honor (which I constantly want to call Biting the Maid of Honor... which also works), I have seen the error of my ways and have the sudden urge to devour her entire backlist stat. I don't think I could have picked a more perfect book to introduce me to Tessa's writing though.  I could gush endlessly about this book, but I won't. It was so fun (and SEXY!) to read about what happened when buttoned-up perfectionist Southern girl Julie and sexy, demanding, alpha Reed collided. I really liked Julie. I'm a planner and a people-pleaser so I could totally relate to her. I understand what it's like to be so busy making other people happy that you stop thinking about your own needs and wants. Reed definitely broke her out of her shell. Can we talk for a minute about Reed? Holy. Hell. I read a lot of books with sexy scenes, but I don't think *any* of them can hold a candle to Reed and his dirty talk. Good lord. I thought I was going to have to take a cold shower when I was finished because damn, this guy gives good dirty talk. And he delivers too. Reed's definitely landed a spot on my sexy-steamy book boyfriend list. Unf.  Even if you disregard the sexy scenes, though I'm not sure why you'd want to (SO DAMN HOT!), this was a fantastic book. The chemistry between Julie and Reed was fantastic. Neither of them was what the other was looking for – or what they even thought they wanted or needed – but they were a perfect match, even if neither of them wanted to admit it. They challenged each other. They were both strong characters on their own, but even better together. The love/hate dynamic was strong and their banter was fantastic.  If you're looking for a great, sexy adult standalone series, I can't recommend this one highly enough. I've read several Brazen titles, but I've never read an entire series yet. I tend to stick with the ones written by authors whose work I'm familiar with. This series has made me see the error of my ways. I'm definitely missing out on something. I thoroughly enjoyed the way all the characters appeared in each novel, giving another perspective to the pairings and the individual characters. These stories all meshed really well together and that's one of the things I enjoyed most about each of the books individually and the series as a whole.

Baiting the Maid of Honor (A Wedding Dare Novel) by Tessa Bailey Julie. Reed. Oh my. I was drawn to Julie because of her perky, energetic self, and also her way of accommodating everyone  in the wedding...and accommodating her mother. I felt sad for her because of her home situation where her mother did not  recognize Julie’s gifts. Reed…well I was drawn to him because he was a human volcano on the inside and calm but still dangerous on the outside, deadly handsome, built, and smart. I loved it when he let his heartfelt emotions show, and in turn,  when Julie also let down her have-to-please-everyone manner. I wanted to yell at both of them from time to time and then I  wanted to hug both of them. It made me laugh, become emotional and become abit frustrated at both Julie and Reed. A definitely  read again book…and again.  by CWL

## HOLY HOTNESS. This book was EXTRAORDINARY. Man, I really do sound like a broken record every time I review a Tessa Bailey book. But I feel compelled to tell others how brilliant this author is. Her books are simply unforgettable. I am immensely grateful to Ms. Bailey for writing the best characters I've ever come across (and I read a lot. A lot). "Protecting What's His", "His Risk to Take", "Asking for Trouble", "Staking his Claim", "Unfixable", "Officer off Limits" and not to forget this current book "Baiting the Maid of Honor". All of her afore mentioned books have the most amazing heroines and exquisite heroes. In this current book, Reed is absolutely scrumptious. His dirty talk was mmmm....yum, downright sexy! The chemistry between Reed and Julie was off the charts. I am so excited to read the rest of this series. Obviously they won't be as fabulous as this one, as they aren't written by Tessa Bailey, but I'm holding out hope that they will still be great. Please, please do us avid readers a huge favor and keep the books coming Ms. Bailey. You simply rock!

Reed is your stereotypical bad boy with a heart of gold. He has overcome a rough childhood to become a swat police officer.  Julie is the maid of honor who is struggling live the ghost of her dead sister. They are attracted to each other, but each has their own reasons for resisting. This leads to a steamy build up that is smoking hot. The book has a hint of kink, and lots of humor. I really enjoyed it and would recommend it and the other books in the series.  I was given a free copy for an honest review.

.My thoughts: "Girls, come on over and meet the groomsmen. Hands off the groom himself, but otherwise it's open season." BAITING THE MAID OF HONOR by Tessa Bailey is the second erotic romance in The Wedding Dare series. It's a very entertaining, relatively quick read at just 127 pages. All the tales in the Wedding Dare series take place around the wedding of Kady and Colt. Kady and Colt's story was told in Laura Kaye's prequel novella, Dare to Resist. BAITING THE MAID OF HONOR can be read as a standalone if that is what you desire, but your enjoyment will be exponentially increased if the series is read in order as follows: Dare to Resist by New York Times bestselling author Laura Kaye (prequel) Falling for the Groomsman by New York Times bestselling author Jen McLaughlin, w/a Diane Alberts (#1) Baiting the Maid of Honor by New York Times bestselling author Tessa Bailey (#2) Seducing the Bridesmaid by New York Times bestselling author Katee Robert (#3) Best Man with Benefits by USA TODAY bestselling author Samanthe Beck (#4) BAITING THE MAID OF HONOR is the utterly captivating story of Julie Piper, the maid of honor/wedding planner and Reed Lawson, a groomsman.
