Awesome reads

Wow....... If you are open to extremely hot and masculine M/M I recommend this book. I hated how short it was, but I'd buy it again. The emotional struggles both lead characters work through were heartbreaking. The HEA stayed true to the series - how they skirt the need for M/F flowed beautifully and was fully understandable. Even with 137 pages I was sucked in, and throughly satisfied. ? This will definitely be another book I re-read for a quick engine revving. Now, I have to go stand in front of my freezer to cool off!

OMG! She wrote a MM in a series I loved back when I read MF, how amazing is that! What else is amazing, even though this is multi books into the series and past were I stopped reading, I had no issues picking up and reading. Completely remembering the things that made this series great in the good old days. Raze is another brother, working at UGH for Eidolon and of course Wraith is near by causing issue. So are the other old fav’s like Gem. Raze biggest issue his, he’s gay. and as his demon has to have sex with women this has been an issue his whole life. Many years ago, he befriended another demon, a women, that understands he’s needs and lets him play. Until one day someone walks into a bar and rocks Raze’s world. Slake is an assassin, working for the worst boss on a case that could cost him his soul. What he doesn’t expect is finding his soulmate in the processes. Now he must race against time to save his soul or lose both. These two, WOW. Such sad woe is me cases. Raze being lead down a path he felt was no end because of who he is and the fact that he such a nice guy, the woman he befriended just latched onto that. And Slake, which is better, lesser of two evils. Home life or work environment. When they start working together and realizing this is real, its just magical, and when ‘he’ gets involved, just funny. I really hope we get another MM out of this series.

Reviewed by Francesca and posted at Under The Covers Book Blog I have a weakness for seminus demons. And Raze is a Seminus demon working as a doctor at UGH, but he’s got a secret. He is actually attracted to men. But the problem is that as an incubus he needs sex to survive. But he can only come with a woman. Being gay is actually a matter of life or death for him, so he’s suppressed his wants and just tried to live his life with a woman. That is until he meets Slake. His few experiences with other men could never have prepared him for Slake and the chemistry is explosive from the first time they meet. If you’re looking for intensity, these are your guys! Two strong alpha males who can get things done and don’t need saving, but can use someone to take care of them and show them some love for the first time in their lives. If you’re a Demonica fan, this is a no-brainer. You must read this! BASE INSTINCTS packs everything I love about this series in a small package. And for lovers of LGBT romance that are just getting introduced to this world, well you’re in for a treat and you should definitely check out the rest of the series. BASE INSTINCTS is action packed and gives us a fun story arc for Raze and Slake, at the same time we get small glimpses from our favorite Demonica characters. I fell for both Raze and Slake right away and I couldn’t put this book down! As always, I’m left wanting my next fix from Ms. Ione and from this series. Hopefully there’s more to come.

Base Instincts is fabulous!! When I see a book releasing by Larissa Ione I know that I can sit back and become a part of the world she creates and Base Instinct is another amazing example of this I just loved it. Raze is a Seminus demon he works at the Underground General as well as picking up shifts at Thirst a nightclub that caters for the not so normal. Raze needs to have sex with women to survive so he has an ongoing arrangement with Fayle that gives them both what they need. Slake is an assassin he is also Duosos a rare demon. After escaping his home Slake sold his soul and must complete a hundred mission to get it back. His next mission would be his hundredth and it would be his most difficult Slake’s latest mission is to find a demon named Fayle and it won’t be long before his search leads him to Thirst and Raze. The attraction is instant but Raze needs to make Slake off limits he can’t afford to risk what might happen. But when Thirst is attacked and everything around Raze start to destruct it is Slake there with him and Raze knows he will not be able to keep pushing him away. As their worlds collide Raze and Slake will need each other to navigate the turmoil that is to come. When secret are revealed will it bring an end to what they have or will it open them to a happiness neither thought possible.

NUMBER OF HEARTS: 4 1/2 Okay first, EEEEKKKK!!!!!!!!!!!!!! *shouts* I love the Demonica series!!!!!! Okay, not that I got that out of the way. I was so excited to be able to read Base Instincts early!! I seriously love everything that Larissa has written. I have been in love with the Demonica series from day one. I am very happy that Larissa keeps writing more stories for us. This was a very quick read. I loved Raze and Slake. They are both tough as nails yet each want what they have never had in the past. Love!! I really enjoyed the twists and turns in this novella and no I am not going to give you anything. Go get this novella and find out yourself. I loved the cameos by Eidolon, Wraith and Revenant. Oh my goodness Revenant was in top form!!! Seriously, Rev has a wicked sense of humor. I can’t wait to see what is next for the Demonica world!!! Disclaimer: I received a complimentary copy of this book from Netgalley & RipTide Publishing in exchange for an honest review. This review is my own opinion and not a paid review.

A compelling story that depicts the heartbreak and betrayal endured by this M/M couple as they strive to obtain what comes so easily to others; their forever partner. Base Instincts provides the usual excitement, danger and the myriad of emotions that we’ve come to expect from a Larissa Ione novel, while revealing the prejudice and deception that surround these passionate and engaging Demons. If you’re even marginally romantic, then Raze and Slake will capture your heart and leave you breathless by the depth of their love.

Base Instincts, A Demonica Story,  Larissa Ione   Review from Jeannie Zelos book reviews   Genre:  GLBTQIA, Sci-fi and Fantasy I’ve read and enjoyed  a few of Larissa’s novels now, and in fact bought and read some of the early Demonica novels, but somehow I lost track of the series. I recall enough though to be able to follow this story easily. Its a stand alone, complete novella, though links in to the other series and we meet characters from them. It was a fun read, but didn’t for me have the depth of the other stories. Everything was just that bit too convenient and the solutions to the very real problems faced seemed to be some rather slick, fortunately advantageous side effects of the type of person/creature each of them were. I like the struggle, the search for answers using abilities we already know about, and when its done as it is here it doesn’t give me that same feeling of satisfaction when all works out. Its a clever book, with some genuine emotion and issues ( even the demon groups have bigotry problems), but for me the opportune fixes discovered were too much to believe in. Even in fantasy I have to believe that if things were real the solutions would work that way, I need the struggle, the brainstorming for answers, the feeling that things might be beyond help, and here it didn’t work that way for me. If you’re looking for a fun, light and sexy paranormal this is great, but if like me you want more depth, more struggle and drama then you’ll found that the main series provides it and this one is just a light addition..   Stars: 3.5/4, a good read but a bit too slick for a great one.  ARC supplied by Netgalley and publishers. If you enjoyed my review I'd love it if you would please click “Like” and if you didn't I'd love to know why, in case I've inadvertently added a spoiler and need to edit.

Liked the book. Read it in one sitting. Wish it had been longer on my nook was only 139 pages but was a good read. Had characters from previous books in there as well. Always like when authors introduce new characters but also mention the old ones since they are who we fell in love eith to begin with.

I read the book in one setting. Like other Larissa's books it was interesting to read and has an unexpected ending. Lots of good twists!

Stupid idea to write this kind of story into her books and within a popular series that should not have this disgusting kind of romance in it. The series has been based on a specific type of romance for a specific audience that does not want anything like this material in it, including the other one she slipped in there earler in the series.
